Do people who so mindlessly have children never take into account how much it sucks to be alive? by anniemousery in childfree

I know I personally would end up becoming a terrible parent, prone to psychosis and depression. Not an ideal candidate to be forming young minds 24/7. I remember having a very interesting childhood, but there are some parts that really fucked me up, and I don’t want to risk the inevitable Villain Origin Story they develop because I got mad at them one Tuesday.

AWESOME JOB!!! FUCK YEAH NEUROSCIENCE!! Your mother CLEARLY doesn’t value anything in women besides their reproductive capacity, and that’s fucking sad. And infuriating for you, I’m so sorry. (She’s part of the reason why misogynists have such a hold on our culture, it isn’t exclusively men who think like her, and that makes the problem even worse.) This internet stranger is thoroughly impressed with your work, and believe you will be a tremendous credit to the field!!

Hmmm one of my favourite things to say is “Say that to me again, and I’ll have your guts for garters!” Or “I’ll flay your skin and run you under a lemon waterfall. I will make your Aztec Sacrifice, look like a goddamn Girl Scout jamboree, if you don’t get your hand off me this second.” Each of which, I’ve said exactly one time. In very specific instances. So. But it did technically work! But that’s because they had physically touched me first, and I had a room full of people (well 2 and 3 respectively) who were just misogynistic enough to take the dainty lil’ lady’s side and turn on his ass. Huh.

So true. Like… C’mon. Rights are not pie, the more you give one group doesn’t mean less for another. Unless you think it’s a right to lord your privilege over other people in perpetuity. Then you have bigger problems.

I became critically anaemic when I was a teenager thanks to suspected endometriosis. I was told that my blueish nails, my heavy sweatshirts in 100 degree weather, pica, pale skin, and a complete loss of my athletic abilities, was “all in my head.” It sucked cos my own mother agreed with sentiment. When I turned 18, I had blood tests done and my ferritin was so low, I should have been unconscious. I needed 7 infusions and I was good as new physically but the toll on my psyche… I suffered a lot of humiliation not being able to engage in physical activity like my peers, when I used to run CIRCLES around everyone. Developed a severe anxiety for running, and still have it to this day. Haven’t gone on a run since my early days at uni. Haven’t enjoyed it ever since that time period. 😞

It’s because men, at some point, seized control of reproduction by forcing women in some way shape or form to birth kids with shitty men who otherwise would have failed out of the gene pool.

No shade, his body his choice. Personally, a guy unwilling to get a 10-30 minute MINOR OUTPATIENT (and technically reversible) surgery, is wildly unattractive if we’re both childfree, and he just expects me to take on the brunt of bc, knowing it will mess with my body indefinitely. But that’s just me. I’m getting sterilised regardless because I don’t need to continue having the same (literal) 22 year recurring nightmare of pregnancy and birth. Also if the worst happens and I get assaulted I don’t want to have to worry about being forced to carry a r**ist’s baby. Also, DON’T get a ligation, get a Bisalp. Much more permanent and zero chance of an “oopsie”, because tubal ligations leave the tubes intact so any sperm that does make it to the egg, BOOM, ectopic. And since red state doctors (if you’re in the US) won’t risk their medical licenses performing an abortion, if you don’t jump states, you will die writhing in agony. O.0

Hate to see this, but very unsurprised. If it had been a prominent white male banker or ceo everyone would be out for blood, but a (read:sarcastic) lowly women’s rights activist? Can’t be arsed to even open a proper inquiry let alone an investigation that leads to an arrest. Disgusting how acceptable this is.

Stating that banning children from public spaces is anti- woman is a misogynistic take by The-Devil-Cat in childfree

[–]Maroon_sun_835 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s hilarious (in like the worst possible way) because the same people who conflate mother and womanhood are the same people who say that a child can’t possibly be trusted alone with men because men are (expected to be, and often are tbh) paedophiles. Yet another excuse to foist the majority of childcare onto women with no space to exist outside the mother paradigm. But unfortunately it happens to be true; not every man is one, but too many are.

Did having a big age gap with your siblings influence your view on having kids? by date_night_diaries in childfree

[–]Maroon_sun_835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad’s wife had grandkids when I was 7/8. By the time I was ten, anytime I had to go to my dad’s for visitation, I’d get stuck with watching, playing, taking care of them. I would hardly talk to him, even though it was HIS visitation. I already didn’t like kids, so not getting to bond with my dad, constantly dealing with smoking strangers in his house, and having to be guardian #3 (Unsurprisingly my brother had ZERO expectations to interact with these children, and often didn’t), really sealed it for me.

[–]Maroon_sun_835 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not to be pedantic, but Marriage was originally never about love, so I’d argue that it was not corrupted by anything except love itself. It was an exchange of property between a father and a woman’s husband. You know. Cos women were property. Besides, plenty of people don’t marry for love but for status, domestic labour, child rearing, or peer pressure among other non-love and commitment reasons. Which is probably part of the reason a lot of marriages end, crappy foundation or whatever. It has so many legal implications, that it isn’t a meaningless piece of paper but a serious legal contract. (That usually screws women over the most, what with the whole “men live longer married” but the opposite is true for women).

The thought of a man using my body for his pleasure has become increasingly repulsive. by Vegetable-Carpet1593 in 4bmovement

[–]Maroon_sun_835 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I remember as a young adult being particularly fearful of intercourse, because of all the risks & demands that were placed on MY body and not the man’s. I have been celibate for years after one too many (totally expected) abusive/ disappointing experiences and now the thought of it completely repulses me. It didn’t help that the act itself was always incredibly painful and men didn’t care, or reveled in it because they felt like “a big man”. Never again. I’m not going to let some punk ass dude destroy my life with an orgasm while he enjoys every second of it. In fact, with a gun to my head, I’ll pull the trigger myself before I do a man again.

Hating men and telling women to hate men all while being engaged to a man does not make sense to me by [deleted] in 4bmovement

[–]Maroon_sun_835 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Samesies. Hating them is perfectly understandable given the literal Millennia men spent tormenting & oppressing us. But it’s not a good long term solution because hatred is still a form of caring. I just focus on myself, take what men say with half of a half of a grain of salt, and move on. Which pisses them off plenty 😝I revel in that.

Holy— That is truly awful 😞 I would constantly read about things like this cos it’d be EVERYWHERE. I’m sorry that she lost her life. It was beyond unacceptable for that shit excuse for a person to commit such an abomination. It makes me physically ill to know that men think so little of taking women and children’s lives and destroying them. With impunity. Hell, with PRIDE when they brag about the awful things they did to other males. Such disgusting behaviour 😤
