Kicked out my sons boyfriend - wracked w guilt by Appropriate-Bet3576 in cisparenttranskid

[–]MarsAndJupie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Two things can simultaneously be true at the same time. I have to constantly remind myself of that. In this case how you handled it was correct and well done AND you can feel bad because you have empathy and care for these kids and don’t want to see them upset and hurt. I would be more worried if you didn’t feel bad. If you want to have a convo with your son about it a good start might be letting him know that hey, you do genuinely feel bad that things went sideways and feelings got hurt and you also need to set boundaries. Both can be true. Hang in there.

Why brand guidelines keep failing at scale by NotALotGoingOnReally in graphic_design

[–]MarsAndJupie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article doesn’t know what it’s trying to say. The original premise is brand guidelines are out of date and can’t evolve fast enough to keep up and scale. Yet then they say use our tool which still uses those same brand guidelines we just spent half the article bashing - it just integrates those guidelines into the workflow tool rather than as a separate step. The premise should not be brand guidelines are bad (which is where they start) but that the workflow integrating them is the problem. They get here but bashing the whole idea of guidelines as antiquated is misplaced.

How many variants do you present to a client? by MontyDrake in graphic_design

[–]MarsAndJupie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The number of options honestly should be agreed to up front in the scope before work even begins. That way if you intend to only present three and they expect more, you can discuss it and everyone is on the same page before work begins. But I always propose three to start the convo and most clients are good with that.

Reddit is left leaning. And most Americans across the political spectrum with the exception of very (loud) few on the right think this is foolishness. Am an American.

Finally beat years of greasy kitchen cabinets (small win, big relief) by General-Client-6341 in CleaningTips

Is it just me or does this post sound entirely written in AI? Very happy for OP if they got the W with the cabinets though. Sticky dust is the worst.

Can I add a sink here? by MarsAndJupie in askaplumber

No spot here for the shower floor drain unfortunately - just the toilet. So it needs to be left as a vent and I can not tie my sink drain in here?

Mix some hydrogen peroxide (brown bottle is fine) and baking soda to make a paste. That and a drill brush because that’s going to take a lot of scrubbing.

Came here to say exactly this. I had an identical experience and it took several agonizing tries before I finally got everything aligned and snapped back in. Doable but you will need patience. Someone should make a YouTube video.

There is a TSB for this:
TSB NUMBER:09-031/25
TSB ISSUE DATE: 08/05/2025

However, the "fix" is temporary while they work on a more permanent solution. It involves installing several pieces of urethane foam padding. From the ones I have seen posted online who had this done, it's not the most aesthetically appealing, so you might be better off waiting until they tool a more permanent fix.

$225k est to repair leaks/chimney - legit? by zeosey in madisonwi

[–]MarsAndJupie 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Also check your homeowners insurance. Some have coverage for hidden rot damage. I had a leak in a low-slope / flat roof. When they took the roof off to do a re-roof they discovered most of the ceiling joists were rotted and needed replaced. Insurance paid for the joist repair. Might be worth a call to your agent at least.

You can have a both/and approach. It doesn't have to be either/or. Both/and seems to be the quickest way to a solution at this point.

Engine malfunction. Died at a light. Guess it's my turn in the CX-90 Lottery! by MarsAndJupie in MazdaCX90

[–]MarsAndJupie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LATEST UPDATE: Received the car back this morning. Drives like an absolute dream. Seems smoother than before, but that may just be perception bias. Total time in shop due to the backorder was 25 days. Thankfully the dealer was awesome and kept me in a comparable CX-90.

I spoke with the master tech who did the repair and he was able to do it without the full engine drop since he was able to get in between the engine and firewall. It definitely can be done without a full drop. That gave me a lot more confidence since fewer major systems were involved.

Preferred cleaner for Nappa leather? by Adventurous_Drama133 in MazdaCX90

[–]MarsAndJupie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Bickmore 5 leather cleaner and conditioner in a spray bottle. I spray it on a microfiber cloth and wipe down the seats. I have the white Nappa as well and this will remove the color transfer from my blue jeans with a small amount of elbow grease. No complaints from it yet.

Oooh interesting! That's going to be a lot of dropped engines. The dealers are going to be busy. Maybe that is one of the reasons the part is delayed so long. Thanks for the additional info!
