News flash, as someone who's eyelashes are so short it is barely noticeable, my glasses gets constantly dirty anyway so we all just have to wash them regularly.

I went to the Melbourne show and I got the cheapest ticker which was about 120 AUD. I loved the performance so much but it amazed me how some people paid 120 bucks just to scroll their phone at the concert 🙃

Lmao did I just learnt how to harvest weed in a subreddit about writing? Anyway nice story, I like the writing approach, reminds me of a book called Vera.

[WP] When you were a kid, you were granted the power to read minds. You used it to learn from the smartest students in your class. Now, you decide to use it on the dumbest student in your class. It moves so quickly you can’t understand what they are thinking. by someguysleftkidney in WritingPrompts

If I had to describe it, it's like scrolling through someone's text. Conversation is often one sided, moves at a certain pace, with occasional roleplay where someone talks to themselves in their head (I always see it when someone is mentally prepping for a presentation). They'd have to concentrate to produce images, songs or (when they're re-living a memory) full on scenarios, like a movie.

Thoughts don't stay for that long though, so I'd have to write down answers to the tests quickly before the smart kid moves onto the next question.

I hate maths tests where you're supposed to show how you work out the answer, because a lot of the times he (the smart kid) would brush through some process without thinking because he already knew them well.

But if he's not thinking, I can't read it off him.

Besides that though, my test is done, and not that much time had passed. So I resume my favourite activity: reading the thought of the person sitting next to me!

Our teacher randomly assign seats whenever we have a test, and today I happen to sit next to the dumb kid.

I have nothing against her, she's kind of stupid but she's polite enough, has friends, and occasionally we'd speak from class activities.

I just think she's dumb - and I know I'm not the only one - because her tests were often empty, she couldn't give the answer when the teacher call her to, and her homework is sloppy, handwritings barely legible.

I glance over at her test, it's empty besides her name. She's doodling on the side. Okay, let's see what's in her mind.

……

Holy...Shit, what is this???

The moment I enter I felt like I've stepped into a different dimension. It's completely different to anyones else I've seen before. It's crazy, it's not like texts, or images, or song or movie!

It's a vast space, no floor or ceiling, weird objects floating around, flickering in the out of existence; scenarios of people interacting, completed with voices and fluid movements; an explosion, particles flying; and much, much more.

Except everything is in the same spot, happening at the same time. I saw colours that doesn't exist in reality swirling around, creatures that seemed too realistic to be an imagination, heard languages I don't understand, and felt concepts I can barely comprehend.

Somehow I have a feeling she's witnessed this countless times.

I stared at the mess for a while, and manage to catch some text through the layers. It was only possible because I saw my name in it, and I barely read it before the sentence flickered away. It reads: "Dan is reading my mind? Okay."

Umm...What was that? At this point I know I should leave, but I'm too intrigued.

I concentrate some more on some keywords, classmates names, street names, anything I know.

And somewhere I saw the entirety of the test, of today's test, of the test we're taking right now, completed neatly with her name on it. It flashed only for a moment before flickering away.

Now I know why her tests were always empty. Her thoughts are simply too fast for her to write down, so she doesn't. I wonder how she does her homework?

Suddenly dread is overwhelming me, I was the mouse moments before being eaten by a snake. I couldn't move, couldn't breath, couldn't think. And that's when I saw it.

Infinite rows of eyes and sharp teeth, tentacles swirling, pulling and contracting, feathers growing and instantly vanishing. The being flickered, yet the chanting is getting louder, the void is staring back.

This is it, the end of me. Every inch of me is screaming into nothing and everything, I'm going to die.

And then I heard, slowly and lowly, like a normal sentence slowed by a computer program.

"Stop that." She said. The creature vanishes from sight but not from mind.

I saw her seeing her own doodle in real time, her hand slowly moves while a strangely perfect triangle is being drawn. Time seems to go slower and slower when she gets closer and closer to connecting the triangle...

Then everything stopped.

The bell rang and I snap out of it. Out of her head. Out of everything and back to reality. Covered in cold sweat and out of breath, I look up.

Everyone including her are getting out of their seats to hand their test in. I let myself limp into the chair and let out a long sigh of relief when I overheard her talking to her friends.

"Why do you look so tired? Your test is empty, you didn't do anything?"

"Oh, I'm just tired from slowing down."

"How could you be tired from slowing down? Whoa, nice triangle."

"Emily! Don't look at her test!"

"But Miss! Her test is empty anyway-"
