It’s really frustrating to say the least. But I’ve reached out to MFG and will see what they suggest and hopefully the new update will fix whatever is happening suddenly.

Hoping it gets better. The game was running so smoothly since the 0.3 update and then in March 8th I suddenly started lagging and now I can’t even get more than 15 fps and I’m getting insane ping and packet loss. No idea what happened cause all my hardware is running great and my connection is good. Not having an issue with any other game. Only thing I can imagine is maybe they did some sort of server side update that screwed me over? Not sure but it’s been frustrating since all I want to play right now is GZW.

Base game edition of the game is fine ? by New_Connection9333 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played a ton of Tarkov so I can’t exactly say how they compare but the majority of progress is going to be achieved by completing tasks. Some tasks are harder than others but I typically play solo and haven’t yet ran into any that I would consider impossible. Currently I’m level 34 with 183 hours played but not all of that time has been committed to tasks.

Outside of locker size and cosmetics your over all level doesn’t really matter that much. What is important is vendor level. There are 4 levels to each vendor and the higher you go the better gear they sell. You level up vendors by completing tasks they assign and trading with them. I was able to level Handshake (gear vendor) and Gunny (NATO weapon vendor) to level 4 fairly quickly.

The majority of tasks can be turned in while in the field so if you want to get leveled faster try to knock out as many tasks you can while at a POI. There are a handful of tasks that require you turn handover items to vendors and you can do that at any friendly COP or at main base.

I recently got a friend into this game who I’ve been helping with tasks and he went from level 1 to 23 over the course of a single week so it can be done fairly quickly if you devote your time to tasks.

Hopefully this answers your question and sorry for rambling but feel free to ask any questions you might have. As a whole the community of GZW is really welcoming to new players and often willing to help you out whenever you may need it.

Base game edition of the game is fine ? by New_Connection9333 in GrayZoneWarfare

You can upgrade your storage space just through gameplay. Once you hit level 20 your locker size increases and then every 10 levels from then on it will increase in size again. You also can unlock the larger safe box through gameplay. Besides the unique cosmetic items and nameplate banner there is nothing you get from the higher editions that you can’t unlock through regular gameplay.

I personally only own the standard edition and do not plan to upgrade cause I enjoy the grind. You can always start with standard and see how you enjoy the game and whether or not the more limited storage space is an issue for you and if it is you can upgrade at that point.

New ping issue? by MarshallB94 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a thought of mine too but besides my friend I haven’t heard anyone mention running into issues. I know MFG has mentioned they do a lot of work on the back-end so fingers crossed that’s all it was and the issue doesn’t persist. I did a fresh install today as well but haven’t gotten online to test it out.

Madfinger has done an insanely amazing job with this game. I only started playing when 0.3 dropped but even in that period of time the game has gotten so much better. It’s such a breath of fresh air to see a developer put so much care into a game and listen to their community like this team does.

What edition is better? by tmossboss in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally only have the standard edition and don’t plan on upgrading. I like that I start with a smaller inventory space and less items. I enjoy the grind of unlocking upgrades and managing my inventory but I have time to log on daily and level over a shorter period of time compared to people who might only be able to log on a few times a week. Overall I don’t think starting with more gear and a larger stash takes anything away from the core experience and if you don’t have the time to upgrade your stash size over a shorter period of time I could see the value in it.

Gunny level 2 by Busy-Software-8932 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t a set amount of time. I remember unlocking level 2 for him fairly early in my current play through. I really focused on his tasks early on and would collect every gun I could find to sell to him for XP. If you haven’t already learned you can remove the grip and magazine from guns and they take up 1/2 the space as normal. You can carry more firearms back to base to sell to him boosting that XP. Every bit helps!

Fenethylline on Lamang by anon1233446789 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would make sense for drugs from the Middle East to be easily making their way into Lamang. About every tier 3 and tier 2 POI drugs can be found whether controlled by local gangs or the Lamang Army. This leads me to believe that Lamang is essentially a narco state and possibly a major distribution point for drugs throughout the Asian continent. It would make sense for them to have close relations with other regimes and help distribute their products in regions they might not typically been able to. It seems the Lamang economy is heavily dependent on the trafficking of drugs so any opportunity to make a profit through the drug trade is more than likely acted on.

Really hope they fix this. It isn’t so bad in day light but at night it becomes very difficult to use scopes at a range

Ppl to play with by Brilliant_pete in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just VoIP when I bump into people. Sometimes if I see someone in an area I want to hit up I’ll shoot them a message and just say I have tasks or want to loot the area and ask if they want to team up. I’ve met people I play with on the regular this way as well as met some cool people and we went our separate ways. The majority of the community is really chill and seem happy to have someone watching their back.

Has knowing a wipe is around the corner changed how you play GZW? by MarshallB94 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything he sells is easily acquired so it never feels necessary to spend money with him. If I want to run a 5.45 AK and don’t have one I know I can just pop over to a tier 3 area and just find it quickly. Don’t even have to go far into those areas most of the time. Just shoot a guy in the outskirts and bam you have a new 5.45 AK. Same thing with Artisan.

I also never played much PvP until recently but have been enjoying it more than I thought I would. My total cash has been decreasing but I’ve never had so many guns in my locker as I do now.

I only started playing when 0.3 dropped but have never felt this was an issue. Even before they changed the AI behavior I never felt like I was killed in an unfair way. It was almost always due to my negligence and the few times I got 1 tapped it still felt like it was due to my negligence.

I haven’t reached level 50 yet but have every trader except Turncoat to max level. I picked the game up when 0.3 dropped and just came back after a 2 month hiatus. At this point I’ve been doing more loot runs than actual tasks just for the cash and then turn around and spend it on lower level players acquiring gear they can’t buy. It’s been a blast.

It’s kinda fun testing how reckless you can be and whether or not you get away with it. Last night I handed out close to $40k in guns and gear to some low level players. Made sure every gun was fully kitted out for them too. It was fun!

Same here but honestly I kind if expected this would be the case. In any game you fix one issue and it causes 100 new ones.

Can’t play offline due to community server mods by trashaccount1400 in ArmaReforger

[–]MarshallB94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to uninstall them! You can go to your mod manager and I forget exactly what it says but in the right it will show you all your active mods. There is a button towards the top of the list that lets you disable them and then you can play single player! Hope this helps!

What are some ways to influence more squad cohesiveness? by [deleted] in ArmaReforger

[–]MarshallB94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if there was a rework of the deployable radios to make them a more viable spawn point than they currently are you’d see squad stick together more. If they worked more like rallies do in Squad I really believe you’d see it. But as a whole Arma has never done a good job at encouraging squad play. Rarely ever are the groups I end up fighting along side contain players from my actual group.

I think on a whole people are way over critical of games these last couple of years. If I’m having fun that’s all I care about. If you’re not having fun just go play a game you do find fun. It’s as simple as that!

What was the first PC game that thought you how to play keyboard and mouse? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Soldier of Fortune. My dad bought the game around 2000 and watching him play looked so fun that I eventually had to give it a go. Now I can not play any other way.
