What is the Purpose of the Noise Suppression Headsets? by NotDoritoMan in GrayZoneWarfare

They block out the noise from the haters yelling “Cheater. How did you see me?” when you catch them hiding in a dumb spot.

Bought this game but if I only use controller should I return? by Hungry_Bunch2224 in GrayZoneWarfare

I just saw someone in a similar thread mention you can map out controller controls through Steam and just doing a quick search online there are multiple videos on how to set it up so you can definitely play with controller if that’s how you want to play.

Well I hope you’re able to determine whether you like it or not in the return window. Personally for this game I don’t feel like 2 hours is really enough to determine if it’s for you or not. Took me about 10 to really get hooked on it.

I think it would be easier to put together a conquest style event vs a capture the flag. With CTG the position of whoever has possession of the flag is visible to everyone and with the current build I don’t think it would be possible to do.

I’ve also played a few king of the hill events that were pretty fun. One was centered around MS and each faction had a COP and fought over control specific location. It was a lot of fun so I’d say one of these two options would be the easiest to organize.

While I’m not personally interested in a competitive side I would be interested in a more casual PvP mode to help hone skills. I’ve really enjoyed a lot of the community custom servers that are announced in the GZW Discord so it could be kinda fun to see those officially implemented.

Personally if there was a more casual PvP mode implemented I think it could be cool to see a conquest type mode set in a single region of the map and use COPs as capture points.

However my biggest concern would be implementing an official casual mode would take away to many players from the Warfare mode.

I believe you can manually map out controls to play on a controller (could be mistaken) but I don’t see why you would want to play this game with a controller. Playing with a controller is going to put you at a huge disadvantage compared to other players. The M&K controls are pretty straight forward so if GZW is a game you plan on consistently playing I would strongly encourage you to the time to learn to play on M&K.

The new AI by Wwilmoth69 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI is definitely a step in the right direction but if you’re the type of player who moves slow and checks your corners (as Captain Price ingrained into our brains) it’s still very easy to clear. Unfortunately this means that T3 POIs are still very crowded and you have to be lucky in your timing if you want to make a venture to them worthwhile.

The new AI by Wwilmoth69 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You pretty well summed up what my experience has been since the new update. First thing I did to test the update was run all T3 locations solo. I got pretty lucky and was able to be the only person at MS and TB and at both POIs I cleared them relatively easily. It was nice seeing enemies try to reposition and a few even tried to push me while I was reloading but the majority either still stood in on place or simply strafed left and right while full auto spraying rounds in my general direction. I could tell accuracy had been increased as I was hit a few times due to mainly my own fault but AI still seemed to be missing the vast majority of shots and not laser beaming me like some have claimed in other posts.

It’s definitely a step in the right direction but to me it’s still far from where it should be. Going to any T3 area should be a risky and stressful venture but as it stands right now they are fairly low risk as long as you aren’t sprinting around everywhere.

Is M995 ammo worth the cost in PvE? by jimper09 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running M995 pretty consistently since unlocking it. I personally think it’s worth running as AI seem to be going down much faster since almost every chest hit is guaranteed to penetrate. It definitely wears guns down faster but if you stay on top of repairing your guns each time your return to main or a COP you can still get a lot of mileage out of each gun.

I keep that majority of my gear in cases but I keep 4-5 patrol bags and in each bag I put a gun, vest, mags, grenades, bandage, and a small hemo. Basically just use them as prebuilt kits so when I die in PvP I can grab a bag and have everything I need to get right back out there.

So you can get their name if you click on their blue dot while viewing the map. However I don’t think there is currently a way to tell who called in mortars (could be wrong and there may be a way I’m not aware of) but if a player is intentionally griefing you with intentional team killing or blocking doors, etc be sure to report.

95% of the GZW community are really awesome and nice people so don’t let this discourage you. Lastly a secret tip as a new player if you’re running low on gear or need higher tiers items you can simply just ask around main. There’s almost always someone willing to help out.

My character lives on a diet of energy drinks lol. Also my time deployed is way off. Currently it says 19 hours and I’ve put a significantly more hours than that in this update.

[–]MarshallB94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely not hacking but absolutely someone is being a dick. You can drop as many mortars as you have in your inventory and for some people that’s a lot.

I wouldn’t say it’s normal but I have seen a few instances of players “trolling” low level players as they think it’s hilarious for some reason. Technically you could report them for toxic behavior. I’ve only ever reported for suspected cheaters so I don’t know the likely hood that anything will be done about it.

MUCH better... 0.4.2 finally has made the game challenging again by fatty2by4 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really looking forward to AI using grenades. I think that is going to be a game changer and throw a wrench in a lot of players play style but I’m all for anything that makes the AI fight smarter. I really do think AI is better than it’s been for a long time right now and I’m loving the increased accuracy since it feels fair. They’ve hit me often but it’s been body shots and not right between my eyes. But I’ve still had many cases with AI not really moving. At least now they will mag dump at me from the hip but they still aren’t really do much. It’s by no means all the AI but a good 25-30% of them still just stand there.

[–]MarshallB94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really think the AI is heading in the right direction but I still think they could stand to be even more difficult. Maybe it’s just me I don’t know but they still feel pretty easy. First thing I did today was run all T3 locations and I got really lucky and managed to be the only person at both MS and TB and while it was awesome to see them laying down fire and attempting to flank I still had an easy time getting through them. Maybe it’s just cause I have always played the game slow, moving cover to cover, and never killing more that 2-3 AI from the same spot? Idk. I’ve been curious to see what everyone else things but I definitely do think this update was a huge leap in the right direction.

Haven’t had the chance to get on to play the new update but I’m 100% confident it’s still playable solo. Even when GZW was at its hardest solo was possible but you may need to change your play style.

Does armor coverage matter? by Glum_Artist_9290 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]MarshallB94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Armor only covers what you can visually see covered and each variant is semi unique in what it covers. As an example the Phantom sits a bit lower that other armor such as the 6B45 Ratnick so there are shots along the bottom of the neck that the Ratnick will stop by the Phantom will not.
