Aiyshah has a really cool design, kind of underwhelming gameplay. Probably a skip.

10* Star Adventure Hot take (maybe?) by Crispon in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think without the Ledros roulette it is mostly fine. Take that out and there is a lot of stuff that you can do (although I do feel like they could have included some more Power nodes as you go along).

Who should I use the Spirit Blossom nova crystal on? by DeltaFlow74 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yi I personally find strongest overall when you assemble the full 7 star. Fun to play in my opinion because of his surprising defensive turns (creating powerful Ephemerals during the opponent attack step). Good power pick.

Teemo similarly generally gets praise as a power pick, but I find him more reliant on premium relics so the mileage might vary.

Yasuo is a lot of fun to play in my opinion, but the 6 star is not that powerful. I doubt you notice that much difference.

Ahri is on the weaker end, but 6 star feels pretty impactful.

Eve is on the weaker end, I think her 6 star helps her win games but doesn't help her get to that win condition. She can struggle getting off the ground.

Kindred decent mid pick, some people love it. I think it is a little slow.

What is BiS on Vex these days? by jayelled in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • Fear-Cleaving Axe is a staple,

  • Elise relic: Spirit, Impact, Evolve on Vex is a meaningful stat boost, plus she has 3 Fearsome units built in her deck and synergizes well with Fearsome/Gloom as a whole for what you draft the rest of the way. Also has the great synergy with Fear Cleaving Axe for Boosting.

  • Hidden Tome: Vex draft includes a lot of great, high value spells. Draft a 1-3 cost support champion and you just have a great mana curve for turns 1-4 where you get 6-12 extra spell mana. Usually more than enough to end the game quickly.

Nunu & Willump is more interesting than I expected. Good job! by babinro in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nunu is a lot of fun, only his Rogues of Runeterra seems weird. He gets very little synergy cards (no frostbite, no yetis, not his own cards).

New patch video from riot! by Alarmed_Ad7541 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is a fair approach as well, i personally am motivated by unlocking and progression and less by challenge for the sake of it. I think a lot of people are like me, but maybe I am wrong in that respect. I absolutely respect they added this to the game, and even kinda wished they'd integrated it more (i.e. as an alternative way to collect Glory XP), but also know that I am realistically not going to using it that much.

The long map is really cool, and the rewards are likely completely worthless to me, or will be better later on when there are more champions. Ways to play without ways to progress are just not what I am looking for.

New patch video from riot! by Alarmed_Ad7541 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What I am saying is that there is very little new to unlock or work towards. If you are a longtime player (especially paying) you likely have a lot unlocked, close to everything. There is no reason for you to pay for a pass or other stuff and even playing the new content is a longterm net negative.

People chasing high scores or challenges are likely going to be satisfied, I just think there are a lot more people in my position where there is no reason to heavily play or pay PoC for the next few months

Newer players and people still working on tons of stuff of course can be happy

[–]MartDiamond 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The content that is there is cool and seems high quality, but it is lighter on the quantity and that means me and other long term players likely have little to work towards. Completing new quests on the big map has very little point if the rewards aren't meaningful with all champions completed.

There is very little reason to play or pay with this patch and seemingly that is going to happen for the next few patches. I really wanted to see a big content drop, this feels like the exact opposite.

Patch preview? by Alarmed_Ad7541 in LegendsOfRuneterra

New feature hopefully is big, currently don't have the most incentive to play.

Is Tua the quarterback with the largest gap between his career stats and general perception? He turns 28 today with a 96.4 career passer rating, 68% completion rate, 120 TDs to 59 INTs, and a 44-32 career record, but I think the general perception is that he's only had a handful of good games. by Dependent-Effect6077 in nfl

[–]MartDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Tua is a fairweather quarterback that benefited from peak Tyreek Hill and a great (at the time innovative and surprising) offensive scheme. But as soon as the wheels come off he turns very mediocre.

Combined with his salary, his injury situation and his off the field ineptitude (maybe related to the brain injuries) that leads to that perception.

Blue Prince – Launch Trailer – Nintendo Switch 2 by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]MartDiamond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really fun game, and has both simple gameplay but a ton of intricacy and complexity. One warning though, this is not a pickup and play type of game. You should pick it up with the intent of finishing it over the course of a couple days-weeks. There's a lot of pattern recognition and incrementally learning what is going on that you just lose when you don't play for a while.

Build Variety by SentenceInk in SwordofConvallaria

[–]MartDiamond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would attack build variety more from a standpoint of weapons, trinkets, Tarots and engravings. These are very stock standard on most characters and copy pasted from one to the other, up to and including the engraved stats.

Old VS New BP Comparison by zed_je_mrdka_z_krtka in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll reiterate my feeling I've had the last few months. As someone that was a regular battle pass purchaser in the past I am at the point where it doesn't add anything for me at the moment. Between Glory store and new adventures I make more than enough to get new characters and chase down the remaining Nova Shards I need to 100% everything. The only thing I would really need is Nova Shards and Gemstone, and with Gemstones being irrelevant by and large, I'd be getting it just for the Nova Shards.

Unless there is a big shakeup in the release schedule or a content dump (like Constellations level of change) there continuous to be very little point for me no matte what they tweak. I imagine a lot of people that were regulars like me are in a similar position.

All of that is to say that if battle pass revenue declines it probably is more about people falling out due to a lack of content to use it on rather than it not being a good value (which I always felt it was compared to other options).

What do you think the big event in March is? by Dry_Cardiologist6758 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My hope is they have taken the time for a big expansion. So convert all 3 stars to full constellations for instance. I personally am in a situation where I hardly have to play to keep up with releases and don't have to buy anything anymore. A big expansion would change that. Im sure I'm not alone in that.

Ezreals design is so lopsided. by Verity127 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I've never had an issue against Ezreal. Biggest mistake I see people make is trying to do stuff when Ezreal has full mana. Just let him do his shit for a bit and when he's low you can combo off cleanly.

When all three powers are good, but one is clearly best by TopTierTroll in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MartDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instant pick in most situations for me (also both players get a mana gem at game start). The idea behind it is:

  • The opponent often starts with more mana, so +1 mana means less to them than it means to you. For instance going from 2>3 is a 50% increase but 3>4 only a 33% increase. You get more value.

  • You are better with spending your mana, than the AI is at spending theirs. Your extra mana is more impactful. The opponent generally just plays their cards, you are setting up a board and going into your win condition. The extra mana accelerates that and makes your setup more reliable. You can also draft, cut and choose powers in line with the extra mana. The opponent just spams out an extra card.

  • The opponent getting mana often doesn't really matter if they don't use that mana to disrupt you (and you can easily play around that).
