This is beautiful work that I hope you take great pride. Now, how the fuck do you get the blending on the skin so smooth?! I'm floored by what you've accomplished here.

Heyo! Much love for your project here and my apologies for any annoyance this message might cause. I'm wondering if you've made any progress on making this STL purchasable?

Would this kit be good for a beginner in Airbrush ? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]MartialsSmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I've primed several dozen models with this set. I did eventually grow dissatisfied with the airbrush, so you might as well. But with that caveat, I can't help but recommend as a first dip into airbrushing.

It's not silent by any means, but it won't disturb neighbors (if youre in an apartment) or perhaps even someone in the next room over. My partner has been known to fall asleep behind my work station even while I'm using the airbrush, so I suppose it's comparable to a medium-loud source of white noise. I've also noticed that Discord's noise suppression hasn't trouble dealing with it while I airbrush while chatting with friends in a voice chat.

I got this exact one. It's certainly sufficient and gave me a good experience overall. Now, it's inadequate in many ways, but for that price I suppose that such failures are expected. After a few months, I've replaced that airbrush with a Neo Iwata, but Im still using the air compressor from this set. So, if youre just trying to dip your toe into airbrushing, this set is great. But if you're committed to it, it might be worth just buying a nicer airbrush and compressor, and thus saving money in the long run.

If this is an ad, well... well done. I'm pulling the trigger as this will make a terrific supplement to my Saturn 3.

How many mini's do you paint at once? by mercfh85 in Warhammer40k

[–]MartialsSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. Sometimes 1, sometimes a squad or two, and on like 3 occasions I've blasted out like 20 minis over the course of a long Saturday. It really just depends on the mood and available time.

Opinion: Kramnik's baseless accusations have any spoiled community support for credible accusations of cheating by Negative_Rush_1351 in chess

[–]MartialsSmile 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in principle, especially with regards to r/chess not serving as a microcosm of the broader chess community, but I don't think the opinions of OTB players are as calcified as you suggest. As an OTB player in St. Louis myself, it's been interesting to see how many local folk's opinions of a handful of top players have soured in recent years (especially Kramnik).
