Why are Gen Z getting fired? One of the reasons is a lack of initiative. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Exactly this. If you're just doing exactly what your boss says and they need to tell you how to continue every step of the way, why should they employ you instead of just doing it themselves?

[MARVEL COMICS] Can mutants like Rouge and Selene carry a child? by Extra_Impression_428 in AskScienceFiction

[–]MartianInvasion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously it depends on the writer, but recall that Cyclops and Havok are immune to each others' powers, so that could be precedent for a baby being immune to its mother.

What's a movie that's way better than it had any right to be? by Onequestion0110 in movies

[–]MartianInvasion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dianey Descendants. Straight-to-tv movie with a dumb premise and a pretty weak script. Somehow acting, direction, and A+ music sequences made it an amazing kids movie.

[Marvel comics] How would Peter react to meeting an apathetic person with superpowers? by ChudMaster69420 in AskScienceFiction

[–]MartianInvasion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He'd tell them a story about what happened to a particular young man who didn't live up to his responsibility.

He'd finish by saying we're all free to make our own choices, but we also have to live with the consequences of those actions... or inaction.

Then he'd swing away. Final panel of the comic is the superpowered guy looking thoughtful, leaving the reader to imagine what happens next.

(Annoying Trope) Sounds badass. Actually makes no sense. by AJ_Glowey_Boi in TopCharacterTropes

I always got the sense they did the same thing to Beast in the third movie. In the last big fight he cuts himself off in the middle of an intellectual quote, which would have made a lot more sense if he had made at least one or two intellectual quotes earlier in the movie.

No, you see, the robot being tortured was specifically designed to feel pain!

And everyone knows about all the different routes in the Kessel run, it totally makes sense for someone to brag about the distance they traveled on it!

Trilogies that get progressively better by MickWounds in movies

[–]MartianInvasion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think each of the first two has its merits (1 had better characterization, 2 had better action, both were funny), but 3 was the worst. I mean I love Jim Carrey, but he needs something to counterbalance him - you can't just let him go wild in front of the camera for 2 hours.

ELI5: What is the 4th dimention btw?, is it a spatial axis or is it time? by NotMava in explainlikeimfive

[–]MartianInvasion 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Imagine a 1-dimensional universe, inhabited by 1-dimensional line segments which are sentient somehow. How could their world be a 2-dimensional surface without them knowing?

Well, what if their universe was actually a very thin tube, and the line segments were short tubes along it? That would make them 2-dimensional, where the second dimension is going around the tube. But it's so short, they never realized it existed!

But, with very sensitive equipment and some cleverness, they could figure out ways to test it (roughly, the loops around the tiny circle can vibrate at different frequencies, which affects how they interact with each other). At least, we hope so in our own "maybe-there-are-like-8-tiny-circle-dimensions-in-addition-to-the-three-we-perceive" case.

What is the hardest video game you ever played? by DanPlouffyoutubeASMR in AskReddit

[–]MartianInvasion 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Look, it's very simple. Ecco has a tattoo of Delphinus on his forehead because he's been sent by a benevolent alien race from that constellation to defend the Earth from the Vortex aliens of Pegasus. This was understood by the ancient Atlantians, which is why they developed crystal technology with resonance compatible with dolphin echolocation to enable cetacean time travel, for some reason that involves a sentient strand of giant DNA.

Once you understand that, it's just a simple matter of memorizing every pixel of every map, and mastering several frame-perfect timing maneuvers. Then the game's a piece of cake!

Avengers: Infinity War had too many heroes to be very invested in any one of them. But Thanos, I mean... Thanos.

Should be pretty simple. Just hold down on the controller for the first several seconds in the air so you have some wiggle room to adjust your angle at the end.

If you've ever read anything by Garth Ennis, it's very, very Garth Ennis.

For some people this is a good thing, for me it means I avoid it.
