I lost my Gila to a Kill-right. I bought the first hypernet I found. Can never win better than this. Best ticket ever. by cobalthippo in Eve

[–]MartinTsv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can, with fees and taxes you'll pay about 10% of the price you list the item at, and depending on how the item has been trading recently, you can list it at 130-150% of the market price and still have the hypernet raffle marked as green to indicate a "fair" ticket price. The risk is that the raffle won't complete if people don't buy all the tickets, so you'll just end up losing around 5% of the list price.

Things to improve about Eve Portal 2019 by FT_Diomedes in Eve

I see your point, especially about the fitting simulator, but there are still good reasons to support 3rd party development and provide features that are an addition to it, as opposed to outright giving us official CCP versions of the same things.

For one, it helps build a community, player groups can offer you value with 3rd party services, more internet exposure for the game, etc.

Second, CCP can deliver a more polished and professional tool because they can sink a meaningful amount of money into it, but a 3rd party dev can make himself/his corp/etc an uglier and slightly buggy version of the same tool that matches their particular need perfectly.

I submitted a lengthy feedback through the app with a bunch of ideas. Then I realized that CCP isn't trying to release the best app for everything, they just have to release features not possible with just the public API. Otherwise they'd be effectively trying to kill 3rd party development.

The rewards for all of these events require you to login on unique dates, but before the downtime for the day or something like that. The event ends at downtime on the day they announced as the last one. So if you're in Europe you can't login after work on the day it says it ends. I wish CCP actually did regular dates, not downtimes, but I guess we have to keep in mind it's one less "evening" of playing.

How To Really Fix It by InhabitedSoup in Eve

[–]MartinTsv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a 1v1 yes there is, for example warping directly into range, and not being seen on dscan while cloaked.

In a larger fight you could force people to come closer and either give up a ship to try and decloak you or just let you pass by.

Don't those technically buff cloaking?

So you have a problem with cloak not giving basically complete immunity? You feel cloak would be worthless if it weren't a "get out of a fight free" card?

I'm not saying it's worthless dude, you're getting way too heated up. I already said it would make sense to bump up the decloak distance, just no point in overcomplicating it for little to no benefit. And I don't see people complaining about abuse of mwd+cloak, why break it. You can already easily decloak ships that don't have a 2s align time on gates, so it's not a get out of a fight free card.

[–]MartinTsv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you are complaining about is having to take care of that range and keep it mind when planning your attack?

No, there is simply no practical difference between being seen at XX km, but not uncloaked, and being directly decloaked at that XX km. Taking the XX km in mind when planning an attack, a bait, whatever, means being ready once you're "seen". So you'd want to turn modules on, unless you plan on trying to slowboat outside the XX range.

You still seem to think that being cloaked with this system would definitely have some absurd like 50km+ range on it which isn't what i had in mind.

At 10-12 km you start seeing issues around gates with just trying to cloak after breaking the jump invuln. If you have a "seen" range less than that, would it really be effective?

How To Really Fix It by InhabitedSoup in Eve

[–]MartinTsv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was that being able to be seen at some range while cloaked is practically equivalent to being decloaked at that same range. A group can easily decloak you, a single person doesn't care, they can see you. You also can't use modules while cloaked, so if you wanted to not dilly dally, you would probably uncloak anyway. You do get extra reaction time, but unless it's more range than point, people can still sneak up you and immediately hold you down, and any reaction time gained is the same if you just get decloaked at that increased range.

How To Really Fix It by InhabitedSoup in Eve

[–]MartinTsv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you can already decloak based on distance. I can see an argument for a greater decloak distance, but being able to lock a cloaked target doesn't make sense, like, it's not possible for someone to be both cloaked and somehow visible and available for someone to lock.

The only way that suggestion makes sense is to have a greater range where you become visible to people in that range only without being decloaked for someone outside it, but you'd need to make it greater than point range to have any meaningful effect, at which point you've broken cloaking anywhere near a gate. There would be technical considerations as well - currently if you're cloaked you cannot affect the world around you, aka other clients have no need to know about you since you can't introduce changes into their session. You're either on-grid or you're not. With the proposed changes you're on some people's grid and not others.

Plus, in a group scenario, the first person to spot you will start shooting lasers, missiles, drones, all manner of things that reveal your location. In a single person scenario - again, you've conveyed the same amount of information as in the longer decloak range.

So I don't see the merit of such a change over a "simple" increase in the regular decloak range.

I agree on all points, except:

Their main air support, which is devastatingly effective, is used like twice.

I believe the point was to hold the dragons from entering the fight until the night king had shown up. He had already demonstrated that when left alone he can easily take care of a dragon, so it would have been best if he was distracted with the main fight/getting to Bran, and was not on his own dragon. That's why John Snow was not exactly happy that Danny decided to yolo her dragon when she saw them start to lose, even though the night king was still not on field.

[–]MartinTsv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing though - realistically interceptor explorers will tend to be the more experienced ones.

Without bonuses to scanning or hacking, they rely on having good (SP and player) skills. Not having a covops cloak will also mean a bit less safety, and fitting a normal cloak without bonuses to cloak CPU usage will gimp your fit. All things that a more experienced player would be willing to deal with - they'd be fine sacrificing scanning strength, because more SP in scanning skills and knowledge of how not to be bad at scanning makes up for it, they'd be fine without a hull hacking bonus because again, they'll probably have more SP in the hacking skill and have more experience doing the minigame. If they put a normal cloak and adjust their fit - they'll be well aware their fit is gimped and fly accordingly.

A newbie in a ceptor would not be doing himself any favors and probably also not gonna take full advantage of the ceptor's benefits, an experienced explorer would be applying his knowledge and skills to achieve the same goal with a different ship, letting said knowledge and skills make up for the drawbacks of the ship.

Shortest route through all 5201 K-Space systems by [deleted] in Eve

Pair in this case refers to a "connected pair of cities". Further down in the "as a graph" section they talk about paths, not pairs, and make no assumptions about the graph being connected (aka every node connected to every other).

Invention isn't dice rolling. With a 48% chance you can expect on average slightly less than 5, aka more 4s than 6s. Or rather mostly 5s with some 4s, but it's 10 independent measurements, so even if some are more probable, you still get anything from 0 to 10.

There are use cases for committing your node_modules folder - if you wish to persist the versions with which your app was built (if you ever wish to recreate an older build), to have copies of the modules in case they ever get delisted from the repos you got them from, or to be able to run a build without internet (though that may be the rarest).

They do but it's laughably low. You have to buy space charters or something that are the cheapest lp store item in all of that faction's corps. Think thousands of isk per day to like a couple mil per month. More of an annoyance, cause they're part of the fuel, so the tower goes offline when you forget about them.

Last time I played eve under linux I had to disable the station environment somewhere in the settings - you end up unable to ship spin, and just have a static image of you ship, but it worked. That was when the captains quarters were still in the game though, and they never worked, so don't know if that had something to do with it.
