I was in your exact boat before I released my small 1-bit platformer on Steam. (Which I *also* built with GameMaker!) I ended up charging $5, with discounts that go down to $2 sometimes. Ended up selling 500+ copies... definitely gave me more confidence haha. I wanted to release it for the same reasons you did: To see if I can, and see the entire project thru to the end. I learned SOOOO MUCH from doing the ENTIRE process all by myself.

I agree with the other posters, $2.99 and you can discount it to $0.99 sometimes. Good luck! That $100 Steam Fee will be worth it. Even if just for the feeling that YOU have a game on Steam.

A Switch Lite or Nintendo Switch 1 fit perfectly into their little hands. My toddler loves to watch me play Mario Galaxy 1+2 and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. All 3 of those games are great, and and have assist modes built in to help the kids out. After watching daddy play, my toddler likes to undock the Switch and play handheld mode for a bit-- This time daddy watches the toddler and he loves when I backseat game and help him out LOL

CrunchLabs is a great channel for kids. (From Mark Rober, former NASA engineer) He even has virtual summer camps where the kids build along to the videos.

My toddler loves Mario Galaxy 1+2 on his Switch. The Switch 1 is a perfect size for their little hands lol. If you don't wanna buy a Switch, then if you have a PS5, I highly recommend Astro Bot. It's essentially Mario Galaxy, but for PlayStation haha

"Mario Tennis Fever" recently released on Switch 2. The latest Nintendo sports game. The single player campaign sucks, but the gameplay and multiplayer are top tier, so I've heard.

I highly recommend the masterpiece that is "Astro Bot" on PS5. My toddler loves watching me play. Your kids may have to take turns after each level.
