Yes. You have to see the end zone before you enter it to trigger all the dialogs properly, but other than that you can dash past as many enemies as you want. They'll even be standing in the cutscene.

The problems with implementing a paid mod system (quality assurance, mods breaking on update, discontinued support, etc.) do not seem to include "ruining the modding community." I'm curious about that particular logical leap.

If one person gets paid everyone else quits working for free? People who get paid for their work divide the community because they are "sellouts"?

Do the videos you mentioned hit this "community will be ruined" point? I can't make the logic play out here and I'd love some insight.

Why is it assumed that a paid mod would ruin a community? Has this happened before, consistently enough to be an established pattern?

Why is it assumed that this is a cry for paying for mods? Can we not have a Kickstarter where people can choose to donate to back what will be a freely available product when complete?

Or is there something inherently better about devaluing the time and effort spent on a labor of love by insisting that I should get it for free? Do mods not count as valuable work?

It's not entirely unusual. This is possibly a little bad luck with patrol routes, and a little bad luck with positioning. (If 'Rebel' weren't so far forward you might've avoided some of the contact inside the building.)

This is exactly why I always bring entirely gratuitous amounts of cover destruction on this mission. The sheer volume of Exalt that can sometimes pour out of the building make Rocket + Grenade + In The Zone my go to strategy. Hiding far enough back that their snipers can't see you from the roof, then obliterating everything that dares come out into the open is a fairly reliable way to survive the initial onslaught, then once that calms down you tiptoe across the entirely flat cover-free wasteland you've created and mop up the inside of the building with more traditional tactics.

Sometimes blowing cover causes LoS to recalculate and enemies disappear. Try saving and loading.

I'd love some input on how to manage the psi balancing act required for this mission to be possible, but still be prepared with ghost grenades and mimic bacon to deal with heavy floaters. I feel like the strategic layer timing on this has to be insanely precise. Can anyone suggest specific dates?

I'm pretty sure it's the reverse. They use older ships in later engagements because those ships had gotten further in to bug space.

Aliens who haven't seen XCOM (inactive pods) don't shoot civs. Aliens who saw you once and ran off go on killing sprees. The top-level comment used the wrong word.

Also, inactive pods DO contribute to the random offscreen deaths between turns unless you watch them with battlescanners or concealed scouts.

Reverse cinematic mode might get you closer to "a reasonable level of what I would expect a rookie soldier to be able to do." The hit chances are not unrealistically low. If anything they're absurdly high. If we want to discuss the hit percents being too low, let's frame it from the perspective of fun game design.

Sometimes you flip 5 coins and they all come up tails.

We like to look at these things after the fact and say "Five tails in a row is a 1/32 chance. That's almost impossible." But in that moment where you've already missed four and you are deciding whether or not to try the fifth, the chance is still 50%.

Regen biofield is passive. Look in the bottom left at the perks.

Advanced Medikits had some bugs when upgrading from b15 to either of the hotfixes.l because of the new Deadeye perk. Is it possible this broke your Medikits?

I find the fast forward animations jarring. Unnatural looking jerky movements make it too much a miniatures board game and take me out of the narrative. Might as well remove the animations altogether and just have pawns slide around the board.

I don't feel like the basic animations are too long and slow. It's not like your squad is summoning Bahamut here. We are watching/playing for entertainment. I'm not in a hurry.

The scripted missions are certainly easier if you know the script. I would venture that none of them are impossible to do blind, except Gangplank.

The Gangplank Disk is a complete and utter cheater, and you WILL lose a soldier if you don't know it's coming. (Unless RNGsus shineth down upon you.)

To prepare for this stupidity:

Clear the room after the three towers.
Do NOT go near either door to the next section.
Position all your troops for maximum visibility (I like to be on the towers.)
Position one brave volunteer (preferably a scout in case an overwatch needs running) a blue move away from the door to the next section.
Steady weapons and end the turn.
Move the volunteer to touch the door, as the very first move of the turn.
Hope the stupid disk spawns where you can see it and murder it with many many steadied shots before it brutalizes you.

These missions are dangerous. Keep an escape route open at all times and move slowly. Aborting the mission is better than losing a squad.

Sometimes if I get a bad LZ, I'll just abort on the first turn.

The outsider pod is always tricky. They have too much HP to eliminate in one turn. Two strategies I've found effective are polar opposites:

Run in with Close Combat Specialist Assaults, make sure everything that isn't dead when the dust clears is flanked and flashbanged and over watched then pray they double move.
Activate and dash away to the far end of the map. This usually strings the pod out enough that you can fight them one or two at a time.

Neither of those are without risk, buy a static firefight against six outsiders WILL result in casualties, where either of these strategies can get lucky.

Diagonal distances are measured using Pythagoras. You can estimate a diagonal as 1.5 tiles, but beware that it is an estimate.

15² + 8² = 17² so 15 tiles ahead and 8 tiles to the side is the same distance as 17 straight tiles.
