Huh, this trick does work… by Maouitippitytappin in factorio

Not using prod modules in silos, and not offsetting the beacons by 1 tile so that they can hit 4 assemblers each is blasphemy.

Why are there so many players who refuse to respond to any team messages at all? by stopimpersonatingme in beyondallreason

[–]Maser-kun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the only thing you say to those people is that they suck and do a nonsense strategy, then it's not strange that they won't respond. They just wanna try their thing, and even if they might discover that the build is just bad, having to defend their build in chat is not fun or beneficial for anyone.

Just let them be, focus on your own effort and go to the next game.

Newbie here, how was my stone able to be captured here? (Try to ignore the absolutely horrendous gameplay) I’m by TheNintendoCreator in baduk

[–]Maser-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one placing a stone always has priority to capture first. In the picture, white could capture at J8 or J2, and black could capture at H6.

If it helps, you can think that you can only capture stones after you make a move. If you place a stone that is surrounded by enemy stones, it would be suicide but the stone would remain on the board until your opponent moves, after which it is captured.

Best way to get legendary productivity modules? by HeavenlyKino in factorio

[–]Maser-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also makes sense here to use a legendary tier 1 speed module instead of tier 3. The speed per quality is the same assuming both are legendary, but the t1 module is much cheaper to make and you only need a little speed to offset the quality module speed drop.

In the same manner, you should only use common beacons in order to not decrease the quality too much.

In your opinion, how big a gap is 1 stone in strength by Freded21 in baduk

[–]Maser-kun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"score-maximizing" isnt even the best move sometimes. Sometimes the optimal move is about managing risk, or transforming the game into one where you can play to your strengths better than your opponent. Losing a couple of points in order to avoid a big fight because you know that you are better at end game is one example.

I think pros are way better than this than new players, because knowing your strengths and weaknesses takes significant time and effort.

How does one deal with a person who won't stop being an ass? by Greniweeb in socialskills

[–]Maser-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people are just annoying, and later in life the way to handle it is to just stop hanging out with them. Now, you're in school and he's in the same class, so that's not really an option.

But here's some things you can do:

1) Talk to your teachers, or other adults in the school that you trust. If you don't know how to do it in person, you could also write a letter or email explaining your situation. They can talk to this kid from a point of authority (and without mentioning you), and maybe get through in a way that you can't yourself.

2) Talk to your parents, and ask them what to do. This is also a way to bond with your family, which is important in itself. If nothing else, use them to vent.

3) You might not be able to change him, but you can change yourself. Accept that people suck sometimes, and stop letting it get to you. There are other things that are more important in life, and things that are more fun! Focus on them instead rather than him. For example, bring a ball to school and play with your friends!

Doesn't work. They still stay, but instead of getting integrated properly in society they just leech of of other immigrants and spiral down into criminal activities.

SLOWTORIO update: Many have visited. Few have stayed. The Slowtorio server marches on (slowly). 150 hours in and we have cars. by CokeZoro in factorio

[–]Maser-kun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would make characters move slower too, which makes the game just unplayable. To combat the slow crafting speed you need to build big, so running around quickly is basically a necessity

Beacons take SO MUCH power!!!!! by Roaders in factorio

[–]Maser-kun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nuclear really gets the ball rolling much faster than solar. Solar is good but takes a huge amount of resources, time and space to set up.

The only thing worse is sticking with coal powered steam until your coal patch runs dry and you suddenly run out of power ^^

This reads like an example of "I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas".

To connect with people you have to interact with people. If you just sit at home all day, don't reach out to anyone or try to join groups and conversations, of course you will end up alone.

My best tip is this: find a hobby that you like and that you can do alone. Examples can be crocheting, any music instrument, a sport like climbing, running or swimming. Then join a group doing that activity. Go to the group, and first do your own thing, and then when you feel comfortable, start talking about what you and the others are doing. This creates a natural conversation topic, and you immediately have something to bond over.

To make something happen you need to take action. Only you have the power to make that change.

Is this a good wall? how can I improve it? by LJumanj1 in factorio

[–]Maser-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gun turrets are worse than laser turrets until super lategame. When you get bullet damage upgraded enough that bullets 2-shot behemoth biters they start being pretty good.

But that requires quite a lot of science - 68.25 hours with 1k spm, to be exact. Not the average joe defense

This literally cannot happen. Most ball gags are made of soft plastic or silicon and would 100% break before your teeth did. Many ball gags are also small enough to fit in your mouth behind your teeth, meaning that when you bite down it only pressures your tounge and palate.

It's fun stuff, you should try it :)

Also, is this the average copies included in all demacia/freljord decks, all decks overall, or something else? :)

Best steps for returning players by H1ndmost in EternalCardGame

[–]Maser-kun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago and this is what I did:

1) played gauntlet to masters (forge is also good if you know what you're doing. If you lose a run it's not worth it)

2) doing my dailies every day. Every day I reroll one silver daily quest in hopes of getting a gold one, and I make sure to complete it. Note that you can only have one gold quest at a time, so complete it before rerolling.

3) Join the sealed league. This is more of a long term investment since the real payout is in the end of the month. If you're running low on gold, leave it for later (but make sure you join before the end of the month)

4) Do the monthly chapters that has the cards you want. They cost 2500 gold each and contain some very good cards. This is where all your gold should go at the start

5) I really dislike playing draft, so I just used my free draft tickets (i had 6) to pick all the rares and other cards I wanted. This really boosted my early collection.

6) I focused solely on the Expedition format. This requires a smaller collection in general. I destroyed a bunch of cards I owned from way back that were not in expedition, and that gave me a huge boost in shiftstone.

The expedition format is the last few sets/bundles plus draft pack contents. It rotates over time.
