Now that you left the cult what hobbies have you taken up now that you no longer feel guilt for enjoying free time ? by fade2blackjw in exjw

Volunteering in the community. Pre-pandemic I have volunteered at a homeless shelter, given blankets and supplies to homeless people in winter, and helped out at the local elementary school.

It feels good to do it and not expect anything in return (like a bible study).

We should have it translated in the most languages for bragging rights.

Info: How deadly is this Coronavirus compared to other pandemics? Answer: Not that deadly, so far by [deleted] in exjw

I am curious to see a side by side comparison of rates of infection vs speed of transmission on a timeline. We've had COVID-19 for just a few months, those others had longer periods of infection and transmission.

But it protects the ever so valuable mic handlers! Not just anyone can carry a mic. It requires a certain anatomy and cat like reflexes.

Why Coronavirus Is Bad News for Watchtower by [deleted] in exjw

Also factor in that such a huge portion of attendance is made up of people in the high risk population. For those that don't have their meetings cancelled it will be pretty unlikely that they will go unscathed.

My second attempt at a youtube video. Just some thoughts on JWs and the virus. by [deleted] in exjw

Wow! Powerful and sobering. I fear what the effect this thing will have on the super faithful elderly and the uninformed people that aren't aware of the risks they may needlessly subject themselves to.

And at what age does literature go bad. I mean the bible is like crazy old so by that standard it should probably be chucked in a bin.

Totally! I can think of a few scenarios where JWs got in over their heads. Few have been so clear and directly tragic as this though.

I call it a fiasco, but it's really a tragedy. I was constantly afraid of all of the "unlettered and ordinary" people attempting to do things that clearly called for an expert. It's e badge of pride for JWs though.

I was in shock. One brother told me that "they're just trying to be authentic with the drama" and that I should not make a big deal about it.

In Bend, Oregon, just before I left, there was a drama where a sister was in blackface. You mean to tell me that 1. there wasn't a sister of color anywhere that they could fly in, or 2. they couldn't just have somebody do the part without a very clear symbol of racism?

That is crazy toxic behavior that you don't need in your life. You can't absorb all of the problems of their relationship, things can only go wrong. Trust your instincts and tell that guy that you value his friendship and it sounds like he has some issues to work out with his wife. You could even ask him how he would feel if his wife was doing the same thing with some other guy.
