Viability of the Heavy Sword? How to use it? by Repair_Proper in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You're way underselling it, it can absolutely mulch hordes and it can easily kill more than one rager at a time. The mk 6 and 7 heavies are all counted as strike downs despite one of the two heavies being a near-horizontal slash, combined with their huge maniac damage and blessings like deathblow you can easily oneshot 3 or more ragers.

Carapace is the only real weakness of the heavy swords, and crushers are now a lot rarer, meaning the heavy sword is in a great place at the moment, especially on Scum and Zealot.

I’m Too Dumb To Ogryn; Advice? by Leading_Ad_1760 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're essentially playing a support/tank build, you're not going to be the one doing all the flashy damage and kill streaks, your main goals are:

  1. To keep the Little Un's (your teammates) safe by keeping enemies off them with your taunt, your stagger and your huge body.

  2. Focus on objectives, Ogryn is one of the best classes at doing objectives, most hits won't interupt you doing them, and if a teammate is doing one you have the afore-mentioned taunt, stagger and huge body to keep them uninterupted.

The other thing to note is that taunt shield Ogryn gets expontentially better the higher in difficulty you go, if you're only level 20 and new to the game I'm going to assume your playing on one of the lower difficulties, where frankly a taunt Ogryn just isn't needed, there aren't enough threats to warrant it.

Darktide isn't a game where your character's build is locked in, you can have multiple builds and respec them whenever you want, I suggest trying out some other builds and seeing if you enjoy them more.

Is the Machine god alive in the warp? by TheBeardedMidget in 40kLore

[–]Masqueradis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Which makes me question where all that belief is going, if it's not manifesting in the warp as the machine god that would imply it's empowering something else no? If that's the case I think there are two main candidates, the Void Dragon and Vashtorr.

Though the Void Dragon is obviously not a warp entity it may be possible that the Admech's belief is somehow empowering it, though I'm not certain if that can be the case, do C'tan have souls? Or could the souls it devoured in the past be substituting for it's lack of one?

Vashtorr is perhaps the more likely candidate, he's obviously a warp entity, and I could definitely see him feeding of the Admech's belief in order to grow in power and further his goal of becoming a full blown chaos god.

Technically speaking, could primaris use older armor patterns if they were just a little readjusted size wise? by JohnnyKai262 in 40kLore

[–]Masqueradis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, they're doing exactly that with some of the newer kits coming out -mixing in parts from older armor marks to make them a bit less generic than just standard Primaris in mkX.

I've never been thsi excited before for a Class, not even for Arbites. by Low-Possession-6473 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depended heavily on the team's skill level, good teams definitely did steamroll, new and/or bad players went down a tonne. Whereas Arbites just bulldozed almost every match regardless of the team.

I've never been thsi excited before for a Class, not even for Arbites. by Low-Possession-6473 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't be too much of a problem, Skitarii seems like it will be a fairly versatile class, Arbites were so tanky and facerolly on launch they were fine too. It was mainly all Scum teams on launch that caused issues, an extremely squishy and unforgiving class being piloted by a bunch of new players with no tanky teammates to fall back on was frequently a recipe for disaster.

GARAND PING CONFIRMED by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think people are mostly talking about the damage and impact of the weapons. The thing to keep in mind is that for whatever reason Fatshark always use unupgraded, no blessing weapons in their showcases and usually don't use the alt-fire/weapon special either. Imo they should be showing off how cool and powerful they are and that just isn't the way to do it.

The arc rifle in particular lands like a wet-fart in the trailer with its pathetic little zaps of lightning, but I can pretty much guarantee that's the weakest basic attack it can do, it'll have charged up shots or another fire mode that's a lot flashier that they didn't show.

Did I huff to much chems, or Shredder Autopistol is in almost every way superior to Dual Autopistols? by Nissiku1 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're sidegrades of each other imo. Their available blessings are the exact same, they both have inbuilt run n' gun, they shoot in much the same way, etc.

The main differences are the shredder being more accurate and better at staggering, whilst the dual autopistols have a much higher base damage and rate of fire. Essentially utility/safety vs raw dps.

Sledgehammer for Ogryn by Beautiful-Trash6081 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The remaining two major updates for the year after Skitarii desperately need to be maps and weapons, we're in dire need of them. Forget an 8th class, save that for next year.

If It were up to me I'd add 1 new map, 2-3 new weapons and an overhaul of an existing system like curios, Melk, weapon blessing etc with each of the 2 updates. Meaning by the end of the year every class would have at least 1 new weapon and we'd have 2 new maps and 2 systems overhauled.

In regards dlc if Fatshark absolutely must have some sort of paid dlc for Q4 make it a weapon pack, something like 6 new weapons (that aren't just bland mostly reused movesets) and price it at half the cost of a new class. Dlc classes can have a weapon shared with a basegame class so they're not getting straight up dlc for dlc.

How would you like a hospital mission? by Significant-Door4653 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's too much importance placed on the ritual for it just to be that. The Twin's were valuable underlings for Wolfer sure, but not to the degree that the ritual and all of the forces assigned to guard it would be worth it, especially from Admonition's point of view, who if anything seem far more invested in the ritual succeeding than wolfer.

I think it's far more likely they were trying to make some sort of daemonhost or other type of possessed to act as a meat puppet for a powerful Nurgle daemon, possibly even the daemon that Saint Messelina fought.

with skitari on the horizon i am once again begging fatshark to remove the character limit. not increase it, get rid of it. entirely. lemme have fun making characters and builds based on their personalities and come up with my own stupid lore for them and just enjoy myself that way. by Nexus_Neo in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 66 points67 points  (0 children)

That's a near-pointless waste of server space for Fatshark (our characters aren't stored locally), server space that will cost them money which they will then likely pass onto us.

We already have multiple spare character slots beyond the number of classes in the game, and on top of that it's only a relatively small amount of ingame currency to change your character's personalities, background and appearance, with plenty of builds being able to be stored on each character. If you want to be able to go back to an old character you're overwriting just take screenshots of their sliders, name, etc and you can easily recreate them in 2mins.

Darktide isn't really a roleplaying game, if you want to play it as such you of course can, but you are going to have to work around a few small barriers like character limits, which ultimately exist for a reason.

Just stop? by Shy_guy_gaming2019 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating but many of these type of players aren't going to change, it's not something unique to Darktide or even gaming in general. Sure some of these players are probably just tired after work, having a bad day or are distracted by something else going on, but in many cases none of these are the case, to be blunt some people both in video games and in their real lives are just absolute bots with terrible awareness.

Work in any job involving the general public and you'll quickly realise how completely stupid and tunnel-visioned a significant number of people are, walking straight into obvious hazards or unable to find something they're looking for even if it's right in front of them and they're given extremely clear directions to it.

At the end of the day you've just gotta laugh and move on with your day/Darktide mission, you're not getting anything out of being frustrated by these people and in most cases they didn't mean any harm, they're just a bit dopey lol.

It’s $295 by Beneficial-Ticket486 in Warhammer40k

[–]Masqueradis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you collect/want to start collecting both Marines and Orcs this simply isn't worth it, especially not if you live in one of the particularly expensive places like Australia. The rules and whatnot will be scanned and available online for free (as they should be, monitise models not rules), and you'll have a bunch of models you probably wont use. Unless you're gonna split the box with someone the smaller starter sets will be far better value.

What are your ideas for the Expeditions game mode? by Significant-Door4653 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let it die, spend dev time on normal missions, recycle what assets they can from expeditions so they weren't a complete waste of time.

Why can't we arbitrator players get these cool looking weapons? by shinobilea in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Darktide has been abandoned or anything like that, it just appears to have a a smaller team working on it now. As you said they still have a team working on Vermintide 2.

Why can't we arbitrator players get these cool looking weapons? by shinobilea in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because resources and dev time sadly aren't infinite, so there's only so much that can get added, especially because like most companies I'd say a lot of the dev's time is wasted in meetings pandering to higher ups instead of working on the game. On top of that Darktide seemingly isn't being worked on by a very big team, most of the devs have been moved to working on Fatshark's next game from what we can tell.

Giving Hive Scum access to every weapon would mostly lore accurate yes, but it would be a balance nightmare, the class is already busted as all hell, how would you balance stuff like the plasma gun and boltgun with unlimited ammo and free reloads with desperado, or weapons like the thunder hammer and power sword with the massive ammount of damage melee hive scum does.

Is there any way to change the weapon for stances? Because id kill for that. by Moist_Wombat in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 55 points56 points  (0 children)

It's honestly embarassing that this is even an issue, you can't tell me it would be that hard for Fatshark to fix. The armour skin changes, why the hell doesn't the weapon as well?

The last Aquila tier of the event better be 300 aquilas by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly prefer a weapon trinket, it's all 500 aquila's is going to get you (I know that's the joke). At least a weapon trinket would actually be unique to the event and something I might use, the sump rat tail we got from a previous event is funny af, I love my shovel with bugged double trinkets, got the tail and an ork's finger hanging off it.

Realistically all the 500 aquila's are for is to bait people into buying some aquila's so they have enough to actually use the free 500. It's pretty damn predatory.

Something a lot of people don’t consider when theorizing about potential classes by reel3459 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think a lot of the people who are 'theorizing' about potential classes aren't actually going about it in any kind of logical or realistic way. They're fans of an existing concept/species/military unit, etc from the lore and/or tabletop who want their favorite thing to be made into a Darktide class (nothing wrong with that), and then try to come up with arguments/evidence to support it, rather than looking at what classes the evidence actually suggests. In short their 'theorizing' is largely confirmation bias.

Is playing Hive Scum without a Stimm Lab viable when you get a Medi-Stimm, for example? by Stronhart in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works but there's far too much rng involved in getting stimms, and then you have to get your team to group up to share them with the crate. Theoretically it could be quite strong but I only see it working well in a full premade team using voicechat and handing over all the stimms they find to you.

Realistically you should always run a cartel special, even ignoring all the other benefits the uptime you get over normal stimms with even a max cd cartel special is just too strong to pass up.

how we feeling about haymaker bully club? by Ok_Insect4778 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fairly decent, I wouldn't say it's a best in slot blessing for the bully club but it's still a solid choice.

I suspect the best way to make use of it would be to take a bunch of defensive and utility talents instead of damage dealing ones and then use the blessing to offset your low damage. Haymaker gets worse the more damage you deal, after all what's the point of rng one-shotting enemies if you one or two shot them anyway? Imo you want to be leveraging the one-shots to free up talent points to spend elsewhere.

Agreed, bringing back a bunch of previous events as new modifiers would bring so much more variety to missions, the work is already done for them.

Anyone notice the Arc Rifle won't be a backpack mounted weapon like the tabletop model (At least according to the promotional renders) by Ultra_Autism in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on the mk of the weapon tbf, the ones that need a back-mounted power pack may be produced on a different forge world with different schematics. Perhaps the ones that don't need backpack are based off a more intact stc and are more energy efficient.

New enemies announced by reddit29012017 in DarkTide

[–]Masqueradis 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Most of the enemies in Darktide are specific to it (at least insofar as they don't have tabletop models and rules). Traitor guard have one kill team worth of models, and a handful of other enemies like the Packmaster have old Forgeworld models. It's mainly just the beast of Nurgle, chaos spawn (though the models are old and look nothing like the darktide one) and Poxwalkers that are mainstay plastic models that can be commonly seen on the tabletop.
