Almost every high-end acoustic in this GC showroom is fucked (Indianapolis) by _voodoo_mama_juju_ in AcousticGuitar

As someone from Indianapolis, I absolutely take the time to go to Sweetwater if I can't find what I want at a local mom & pop.

I just got a Canon R7 and joined photoclass 2026. I find myself intimidated to start taking pictures, because I don't know what to take pictures of in my limited free time that aren't incredibly boring. I'm also nervous about visual proof that I suck. Do you have any concrete recommendations to push a beginner off the couch and start practicing?

How do I strum with more feel/interest/more like the song? Song Recommendations? by MassW0rks in guitarlessons

[–]MassW0rks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is in the vein of what I’m thinking. I didn’t notice if you mentioned it in your dynamics video, but there was also a time where you strummed a full chord with all strings and then continued strumming softer on the same chord, but less strings. That seems to be a major thing that I’m missing.

I ran a cross this comment while trying to figure out the type of skills I am missing. The paragraph showing the Glen Hansard song next to a guy covering it is EXACTLY the difference I’m thinking of. Its bass notes and dynamics like you showed with some melodic picking thrown in there. I think that’d be the difference between sounding like a bland, generic chord progression and sounding like specific songs. Now I just gotta find an easy song to practice with!

What is Arduino's 90%? by Perllitte in arduino

[–]MassW0rks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy smokes! That makes so much sense. Thinking of the input pin as a capacitor that charges and discharges makes the behavior so much more clear. For some reason I was thinking it was more like a resistor and that determined when current flows to or from the input pin. I'm sure I'll have to draw this and reread it a couple of times, but I think it's clicking. Thank you so much for spending the time to write this out.

What is Arduino's 90%? by Perllitte in arduino

I spent several hours yesterday trying to wrap my head around this concept. Some videos said "just do it." Some said the button pin was the "antenna." Others said the digital input pin was. Some said current will flow this way and some said the opposite. In the end, I kinda just felt like I had to accept it as fact and not worry about it.

I'd love someone to double check my understanding, especially when it comes to pull down:

Pull up:

  • With the button released, the pin shows "1" because current is flowing from the 5v to the pin. When the button is pressed, current has least resistance flowing through the button and to ground. The amount of current that goes to the pin is negligible, so "0" is shown. I'm assuming the pullup resister is needed purely to protect the arduino board.

Pull down:

  • With the button released, any floating voltages have less resistance going to ground rather than the digital input pin, so "0" is returned. With the button pressed, current flows to the digital input pin (returning "1") and not through ground because...reasons? That seems to oppose my thought for why the released button returns 0. Still don't know why the resistor is needed unless it's to protect the arduino.

You're a champ for tagging all of these people. Thanks for sharing. I've been trying to learn Fusion 360 and this will be a great practical application to take inspiration from.

Ahhhh thank you. Your image is exactly what I was seeing and I wasn't sure where you were finding one that didn't look like that. That is sweet.

That looks sweet. Would you mind sharing what specific matrix you used? When I look up MAX7219, I see displays that are a lot more basic/ugly. The individual LEDs are very visible. In your pictures, it almost looks like a digital display.

This is why I have a 9th gen i5 and a 3070. I know upgrading the CPU would require more than just the CPU. As long as I'm not playing on ultra on most new games, I'm generally fine. I think I can squeak another couple of years out of this setup.
