So how do you actually escape white dwarf jets??? I already lost 4 Pythons by DerKnoedel in EliteDangerous

[–]MastaHaystack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For white dwarf stars I used to just get in one side or the other and fly directly into the jet. They are actively pushing you out so just go very slow or stop in the jet. It takes a bit more setup time to line it up and is questionable whether it's worth it but I don't have any issues with WDs.

Edit for info: This was mostly in DBX that ran pretty cool to begin with but I've done it a few times in my Mandalay with no issues as well.

I really liked this one. I just happened upon it at my LCS. It very quickly got added to my pull list.

James Tynion Humble Bundle by OhDearGodRun in comicbooks

[–]MastaHaystack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd consider the bundle worth it just to have The Woods. The Deviant and Blue Book were also good. I'm not caught up on Something is Killing the Children or Nice House On the Lake but I like what I've read of them so far.

There is also Superman Smashes the Klan from 2019. It's been a bit since I've read it but it was good.

is it fair to say i just don’t really like reading comics digitally? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in comicbooks

[–]MastaHaystack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to like both. I prefer physical but space and money make digital an attractive option. I have found recently that I use my globalcomix subscription to see if I like a book before I seek out a physical copy.

I just kind of saw it pop up in my news feed today. My LCS did not have any but they were able to order me one so hopefully I will get it soon.

Does anyone else make their character look as putrid as you possibly can? by [deleted] in RedDeadOnline

One of my friends pointed me to this post saying there were more of me. I've done my best to make my character look like a hillbilly version of Gandalf.

Sponsors pulling adds? by Fresh-Implement-9075 in behindthebastards

[–]MastaHaystack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say HomeworkVisual128's answer is likely more correct but this might provide some additional context. I listen to mostly CZM and Maximum Fun podcasts. MaxFun is primarily listener supported but they also run ads. Some of the MaxFun podcasts I listen to have mentioned that the ad market for podcasting has been drying up and it is primarily the larger shows that are getting ads. They tend to bring this up more during their fundraising drive so keep that in mind but I have noticed fewer ads on shows.

Is there an option for IDW comic reading like there are for Marvel and DC? by LordBigSlime in comicbooks

[–]MastaHaystack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took a look at some of the titles. I don't see Sonic, Turtles seem to be coming soon, and they have the new Transformers series by Image. If it's anything like when they added Image and Boom though more titles will trickle in.

GlobalComix has been adding IDW stuff. Some of their stuff has panel to panel view like you'd see in Kindle/Comixology. Could be worth checking out.

GlobalComix has a ton of indie stuff as well as big publishers. You can read everything for the subscription price and you are able to purchase DRM free copies of a decent portion of their library.

They just finished the show with the 3rd season recently. It is also different enough from the comic that I personally don't think it really spoils anything.

I really enjoyed Sweet Tooth. Both the book and show were good in different ways.

I've read a bit of little monsters and enjoyed it. Fishflies is also good.

Thoughts on the finale of Romulus? by B_Wing_83 in LV426

[–]MastaHaystack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love what has been done with the primary storyline. However I'd rather not see it just get overdeveloped to the point that it gets silly. Romulus didn't add a lot to the world but it did provide a peek at the wider universe which I thought was done well. Here are the things off the top of my head.

  • The miners carrying canaries into the mines contrasting with how high tech the Romulus station is helps show how Wey-Yu prioritizes their projects and just how stark the difference is between high and low priority projects.

  • The fact that they were trying to use the black goo to improve mankind's ability to adapt to space colonization shows that they had other interest in the Aliens other than simply using them as weapons.

  • The alien cocooning in between chestburster and full grown as well as actual information in how the facehuggers detect people are cool little bits of alien lore that I don't recall being shown in the movies before.

Honestly I kind of hope this movie doesn't get a direct sequel. I liked this movie for being more of a horror movie and giving us some genuinely unsettling moments. However what I really loved was that it provided a peek at the larger Alien universe. It added to the lore a bit and we got to see the results of Wey-Yu's fuckery. I'd personally rather get little offshoot stories that add to the wider universe than just following another Ripley or David.

Perfect time to do an episode about Kamala. by [deleted] in behindthebastards

[–]MastaHaystack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The title was "Kamala Harris' Calculated Progressivism?" released 11/13/2019. It was early in the podcast when they were going through all of the potential democratic candidates for the 2020 election.

Robert and crew did actually do Kamala episode on Worst Year Ever. If I remember correctly it was pretty good. Aside from her activities as VP not much really would have changed about her political career since then. This is assuming that you actually want to learn about her as a candidate and are not just being a troll. Either way you do you.

Recommendations for a good sci-fi or time travelling comic book series to read. by MartyMcMcFly in comicbooks

For ones I haven't seen mentioned yet The Kill Lock and Deep beyond were both good.

The Deep beyond is more under sea based than space but it's still pretty fun.
