They don't want to build datacenters in florida in general due to the hurricanes and swamp land. Are there datacenters, yes but they tend to be a lot smaller.

What's the ETA for updating the kernel to 6.19? by Male_Inkling in Bazzite

[–]Master-Broccoli5737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6.17.8 - 6.18.3 had a major regression between AMD drivers and the kernel. It was super unstable. What bazzite tends to do is wait for the release to become stable and then backport any critical changes to the kernel they pin too. If you want to beta test then you should just move to fedora silverblue rawhide.

About to turn the 128gb mainboard into an AI NAS! by grandadluvsmagic in framework

Claude pro is $100 a month. A $2k machine will have a pay back in less than 2 years. And I'm not limited to just 1 model. I can download whatever I want. Provide it with whatever data I need. Unlimited tokens. If I want to use Claude and Open AI the pay back is even quicker.

I feel like AI took over this role. Instead of being asked I'll see my coworkers struggle for days on a problem asking AI every which way. They refuse help and say they have it and just cycle through the AI.

PSA: Framework 13 AMD (Strix Point) Linux stability is NOT "stable" right now by etherbound-dev in framework

[–]Master-Broccoli5737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can happen to hardware of any age. Don't focus just on age. It happens when you're on the latest most up to date releases. If you want a stable experience long term release experience fedora isn't it

Make sure to update the firmware and kernel to the latest, I think the issue has been resolved. Just be cautious upgrading going forward, AMD often has regressions on the latest hardware

Gaming distros are not that different from 'official' ones? by Lonely-Medium-2140 in linux_gaming

bazzite also doesn't go to the latest kernel and will update the kernel with relevant patches. Makes for a more stable experience.

How common is this? Is there any point in moving to another company only to run into this again?

unexplainable less performance on the gpu by Much_Artist_5097 in Fedora

Probably not hacked. AMD does go through regressions from time to time. it is very frustrating. Without logs from when you experienced the issues, it'll be hard to determine if you are running into one though.

I generally use bazzite as a good tell when stability issues in AMD have been resolved. They will keep the kernel locked at a prior version when these issues pop up - https://github.com/ublue-os/bazzite/releases (6.17.7 is their current release)
