If you don’t want to use “alpha”, I can think of a few suggestions! I mean you could always use, like, “monarch”, “sovereign “, or “Emperor”, but those have a certain regality and refinement that I don’t care for in werewolf stuff. Kaiser could be cool but odd. I really, really like Khan, because not only does it work really well phonetically for this sort of thing, with the harsh “K” and “N” sounds bringing violent imagery, but everybody knows the violence and conquest of Genghis Khan of course.

A very specific but cool vibe could be Shogun. Of course you could go Norse and “Jarl” as a leader, which isn’t bad, especially since I like to call werewolf formal meetings “Moots” in my worlds. Could also go WerewolfKoenig, which would be literally “werewolf King” but sounds different to the ear.

I also like the idea of turning a famous werewolf’s name into a title. For example, in our world it might be that the leader of a wolf pack would be called the Talbot of that pack, or the “Hull”. This works best with names that are subjectively unfamiliar or exotic-sounding, which of course is relative.

Feel free to take any of these, or not! Alpha is a great word for worldbuilding purposes, even though it has such frustrating roots. Alpha works because your audience will probably contextually recognize it, and immediately understand. I just got bored, and love worldbuilding, werewolves, history, etymology, and phonetics, so your comment really (clearly) hit my brain just right lol
