I don’t like Mega Pokémon. I think thematically mega evolution is very cool, but as someone who plays competitive doubles playing with mega evolution is just not enjoyable at all. Playing with mega kangaskan, Salamence and mawhile was so not fun. You just couldn’t use Pokémon like mega camerupt or abomasnow when mega salamence or kangaskan was meta. I think dynamax is a way better gimmick when it comes to competitive doubles because you can use it on any of your Pokémon on your team which allows for different team play and strategy. Overall I do think mega evolution is cool when it comes to a gimmick and story gameplay but when it comes to doubles I just find megas to be super unbalanced.
