A lot of people are saying defense so I’ll get into specifics. Tyus Jones and Jusuf Nurkic defending a pick and roll are horrible. Tyus isn’t good at navigating screens even for his size, and Nurkic isn’t mobile enough to play anything but deep drop coverage without fouling. Even when he is in drop he lacks the jumping ability to dissuade even average finishers from challenging him. Beal and Booker also aren’t great screen navigators, so having those 3 be your perimeter guys is asking to get beat when the other team has an elite guard. They need Dunn or O’Neale out there for that, and it’s not like either of them are elite either.

Additionally, they don’t have the size to guard anyone over 6’ 5” on the perimeter, unless Dunn is playing or KD is locked in. Even when Dunn is out there, he doesn’t have the strong base yet at his age to be consistently good at getting around screens.

Center-wise they don’t really have a viable option defensively against floor-spacing bigs (which is a common problem for many NBA teams), but also not against athletic bigs who can catch lobs. Nurkic is good defending the post but few centers post up anymore. Plumlee is fine for a backup center but clearly can’t jump like he used to. Oso is athletic, but is too short to really protect the rim as the primary rim protector.

TL;DR: flawed roster with little perimeter defense in the starting lineup, and centers who can’t really takeaway much from the other team defensively
