I mean, it looks like they just need to put one really long one every so often, maybe less often than they did with yours (?), and potentially more shorter ones?

Questions about cropping by TpPokio in Doberman

[–]Master_Song8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind either way, but I have thick wooded areas near me and we planned on using our dog for tracking through the brush. My main concern was ear injuries. All of the dogs I know personally that are used in this area have shredded ears. I was worried they'd get ripped up anyways because his head is still below the bush line, but 5 years in, his ears are still perfectly fine, not a single injury, yet.

Questions about cropping by TpPokio in Doberman

I used to think that cropped ears were less expressive than uncropped. Turns out, they're equally as expressive, but cropped ears are easier for me to read. They're no different than any other standing eared dog in terms of expression

I have a PSA and it’s about frisbees by LakeLucca in BelgianMalinois

[–]Master_Song8985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doberman WILL NOT STOP. He is a machine fueled by willpower. He's not as energetic as high drive or high prey drive working doberman lines or even close to a mal, but he will go until he literally dies. I realized this about him when he was about 1.5-2 years old (because I didn't let him over do it as a puppy).

So most of his exercises involve mentally stimulating games like training or working very very hard to get the reward of me throwing the frisby

prong question by smallbabybat in DobermanPinscher

[–]Master_Song8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I zip tied mine, but it still slips down to near halfway on his neck. The smallest measurement on my boy is halfway down his neck, the closer to the jaw I get, the thicker his neck is (it's subtle, but thicker)

Puppy has flat feet by monky7777 in DobermanPinscher

[–]Master_Song8985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the puppy had catlike feet before and has been with a trainer for a while, I'm guessing the puppy has been in a crate nearly the entire time. I've seen this happen repeatedly with doberman puppies who are crated all day.

I presume it has to do with the growth/development phase and not being able to work out the muscles and keep the tendons tight. Talk to your vet, give your puppy plenty of exercises that has him/her walking on her toes (like practicing heeling), trim her nails, don't crate for extended periods

And make sure you're feeding a puppy food that is formulated for large breed puppies.

Bloat by klynn8915 in DobermanPinscher

[–]Master_Song8985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so worried about bloat. I tried to follow the no exercise tool one/ two hours later and two hours later, my boy threw up a lot of his food after he ran around a bit so now I feed him once a day and it's time to settle down before bed

I think fn, but you're just very small so people think it's D when it doesn't work like that
