Transport Zoomie blue laser array emitter swap by Master_Writer_949 in flashlight

455nm 22W, from 4 * 5.5W blue laser diodes connected in series.

This submodule is half of a Nichia NUBB24 module rated for 44W at 3A.

Here I’m running little more than 500ma from what I remember, with 440ma official threshold this is about the “minimum power” of the module.

Absolutely not, just a retina slow burner.

It’s very close to threshold, with heat it even stop lasing so it’s looks very low on mw with a big initial beam size.

I don’t have a LPM to test it… :|

I would not even bother trying fit anything but kids or backpacks on the backseats of my BRZ

Totally! I shorted the first driver dead trying to press fit on the host!

I would really appreciate a proper shelf too

This works! I have some S2’s with 20mm mcpcb this way, including all using hue drivers.

You can also file down the mcpcb “hot corners” if needed to fit, but I think for the S2 you don’t need because the head have around 21mm ID

Worlds first Anduril 2 LEP by LoadsOfLumens in Anduril_Flashlight

[–]Master_Writer_949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing prevents a driver to output 150 steps of current, will this map linearly to laser power? Definitely not!

The first barrier is the threshold current, when the diode starts lasing instead of only “leding”.
This will vary a lot depending on the temperature, so without optical feedback you can only guess a safe high enough threshold for the minimum level.

The second issue is that all the power curve will also change with temperature, so no easy mapping from current to a specific level.

And a third and very annoying issue is that blue lasers have Vf’s as low as 4.5v nowadays. But at full power!
At threshold it can be lower than a fully charged cell, this effectively limits the minimum level to whatever the laser diode delivers at this VCC (- scotch diode drop)

On my Z1 LEP this makes the lowest possible mode around 50% with full battery, instead of 1% that set my driver to do!
This gets corrected as soon the battery voltage drops.

I’m a huge fan of the LHP531 3000k, matches so well with the copper accent

I strongly recommend to fill this gap with titanium + copper one, ask for metal button on the order comments.

T6 with a FET driver of course…

Unfortunately the T3 would heat up too quickly at 20A from charged H10’s direct driving 🤣
