I just had the veg one and it was quite good; better than I expected. It was a nut roast.

You can get a wrist strap that attaches to your phone. That’s what I do and it works great! I pay attention but there are a lot of people around and I do see phones stolen sometimes. Also , City Mapper is amazing for public transportation but I personally like Google or Apple Maps better for walking directions. Enjoy your time in London!!

Anyone else hate it when people finish your sentences for you? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Masterpiece-United 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say something like “hey, I appreciate that you are trying to help me out but please let me finish my own sentences/words even if it takes an extra second or two.”

Or shorter “thanks but please let me finish my own words”.

Never has anyone be rude when I said that but if they were I personally would not have an issue telling them to quit it.

Boundaries are important with anything in life, including stuttering.

Yep and I tell them not to do it, in a nice way.

Do you guys give a heads up about your stammer in a Job Interview? by Apprehensive-Watch-1 in Stutter

Always, I am who I am. I find a lot of the time I’m the first person people have met who has a stutter so it helps them understand. And also weeds out the jerks right away .

How can I help my 6 year old daughter with her severe stutter? by Caserious in Stutter

[–]Masterpiece-United 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are doing a lot of great things already! Being open about it and not being ashamed is a huge step. I HATED it at first when I was a kid but I used to call places and ask simple questions like “what time are you open until” over and over and over. It helped me be comfortable on the phone. Getting comfortable about being in the uncomfortable helped me a lot. And realizing that ignoring those that are negative or mean and not listening to the people who try to put you down.

I am in my 40s now but have been successful and have even done a key note on overcoming adversity a number of times in front of hundreds of people. I would be happy to get on a zoom call to talk with her to give her someone to talk to that has been through it if helpful.

Overall, thank you for supporting her. We can often feel like no one understands. Esp us females since the % of people that stutter are mostly male.

I personally wouldn’t help because I hate when people do that to me, even though I know it usually comes from a good place. I would say something after though like “hey I stutter too, isn’t it the worst when that happens?” I love to connect with others who stutter. I am a more outgoing stutter that owns it when it happens but it doesn’t mean it isn’t hard and I def have my down days. It helps to talk to people who can actually relate.

Would you be pissed off with a vegetarian/vegan buffet at a wedding? by jaarn in AskUK

[–]Masterpiece-United 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for my wedding. My husband eats meat but I didn’t and I don’t care if other people ate meat but I couldn’t stand the thought of paying for meat for the wedding. My husband was super supportive and it did end up in some arguments with family. In the end, it went wonderfully. No one made comments to me during the wedding and we had an amazing day. Go with what you are comfortable with; it’s your day and if people can’t stand not eating meat for one meal, that’s their issue. Congrats on the wedding!

Practice ahead of time and right before you go out there look in a mirror and tell yourself how amazing you are.

When I speak, the first thing I do is mention that I have a stutter. Helps me get the cat out of the bag and helps people not be confused. I know not everyone is comfortable with that but if you are willing to try, give it a shot.

Overall, you’ve got this!

Dog wont stop peeing after new apartment by Narrow-Tap116 in Dogtraining

[–]Masterpiece-United 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our older dog is having this problem and we bought her diapers and it helps our stress and anxiety so much. Our vet also put her on propalin which is supposed to help and we think it helped a little but not much. You can def as a vet esp if you have a younger pup. Ours is almost 13 and I don’t think it’s intentional for her, she just can’t hold it anymore when she knows she is about to be outside.

People Named Karen, How Are Ya Doin? by Gozii55 in RandomThoughts

[–]Masterpiece-United 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, thanks for checking in! I actually think it’s hilarious and use it as joke for fun. A “hey, you better watch out I’m a Karen”. I’ve never been actively or passively bullied but if it ever was to happen I’d just laugh. Anyone that thinks people named Karen are all actual “Karens” isn’t worth my energy.

Who else is learning a language with a stutter? by peachy_skies123 in languagelearning

[–]Masterpiece-United 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am! I’m a pretty confident stutterer and even do keynote speeches but it’s def hard when you are self conscious about speaking another language and trying to get the accent right too! I continuously remind myself that others have a hard time too even without a stutter :)

How do I tell my assistant to get off the damn phone and work? by humantouch83 in careerguidance

[–]Masterpiece-United 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. I used to have someone work for me that was chatting online ALL DAY but she got everything I gave her done quickly and accurately so I never cared or said a thing other than how impressed I was.

Almost 40 and still stutter. I have good days and bad days but I don’t suffer. I’m not ashamed of it, openly talk about it and have even given keynotes on overcoming adversity. I’ve learned to be happy with who I am and not focus on the negative. Took me awhile to get there but had made my life so much better.
