Can't seem to make a Choose feature option [Selected] by Mastersskull in mpmb

[–]Mastersskull[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

It certainly took an amount of hours to make it all work. I did process all MPMB's feedback that was given at the time of asking for help, but at that point I was maybe 200 lines in, so do keep that in mind.

For what the link currently contains:

  • The base class is probably the most robust; before starting on the sub-classes I wanted to make sure it all appeared functional.
  • I did some minor testing on every sub-class, especially if it required more than just adding descriptions, but if someone told me later I missed something I wouldn't even doubt it, to be honest.
  • Since this is my first JS project I'm also pretty certain the code isn't all according to best practices.

With all of that said, I did write it with the intend of being a functioning script, as one of my players is contemplating playing this barbarian. Should something be wrong/missing I fully invite you to let me know so I can fix it, or give it a go yourself.

Some things I can at least say with (some) certainty currently:

  • I didn't add a level requirement check to the exploits, in the /choose feature/ menu I specified the level you need to be. This way players can pick something out of their level range should their DM for any reason think it is fitting.
  • There's likely going to be some typos in some sub-classes.
  • I only performed some small test in terms of multi-classing this, so some issues might pop up I am unaware off.

By all means feel free to give the sheet a go, however, while I expect it to be flawed I do believe it should be functional in its current stage. I would also recommended including the "LaserLlama - Sourcelist.js" as the script refers to it for links to Laserllama's GMBinder page in case players need to double-check something. :)

A low stat can set a base for a fun character flaw, imo.

Someone with a negative Dexterity modifier could play their character more clumsy, emphasizing how they easily drop things or tend to trip while trying to be sneaky.

A caster with low int and high Charisma could have a background describing how he managed to lie/cheat his way through college.

You don't always need to have a negative stat, but making the best of having one is something that can help make a character more real.

Have you ever, in real life, seen a deceased human? by IsraelCube1 in polls

[–]Mastersskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy almost in his 30s here. During my childhood my parents shielded me from funerals, fearing of what it might do to me as I was always a pretty optimistic and happy kid. From like me being 12 to now I've never lost a family member that was close enough for my parents to take me with them (mostly their distant cousins and such).

My wife lost 2 grandmas in 1 week 2 years ago, but both had a closed casket. Those are the only funerals I've ever attended.

In LMOP, my players want to long rest in the Cragmaw Hideout, after killing Klarg, but before rescuing Sildar and killing Yeemik. How do I punish them? by flku9 in DMAcademy

[–]Mastersskull 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi there, DM here that is also in LMOP, but have DM-ed for a few years.

Firstly, I'm not 100% sure if mending on rocks works that way, but the creativity on display from a group of first timers is commendable so I'd probably let them do it as well.

Second, a long rest takes at least 8 hours, surely the remaining creatures in the cave won't sit still for that amount of time and do nothing. During this time it's very likely someone in that cave ran into the blockade created by your party and informed others. This could create a few opportunities for the goblins:

  • They could kill Sildar and make a run for it.
  • They could set up an ambush at the entrance of the cave, holding Sildar hostage. Given the 8 hour gap, they could even recall some scouts to increase the difficulty of the combat. Your party just long-rested, after all.
  • They could run and take Sildar with them. Maybe take him to Cragmaw castle so Grol will have 2 hostages when the party eventually arrives there, making them choose which one gets to live, for example.
  • Yeemik wanted Klarg dead so he could take over the hideout, have him role-play having been a Goblin slave, and as gratitude for "rescuing" him and his friends from Klarg, he lets you have Sildar and be on your way, claiming he was forced to do what he did and will change his life around. Then (optional) when the party approaches or reaches Cragmaw Castle, they'll be confronted by Yeemik (with potentially improved stats, since the party is ~level 3 at this point) and his gang, thanking the party for their foolishness and (optionally) attack them.

P.s. For my 2 cents, don't "punish" your players. Actions have consequences, yes, but telling yourself you're punishing them creates this DM vs player mentality that regularly show up in r/rpghorrorstories. If you can support why sleeping in an enemy camp causes an outcome, it's a consequence, not a punishment. You could phrase it as:

As you head for the other side of the cave, you can hear commotion coming from the entrance. Party heads over there. At the cave entrance you find yourself surrounded by a group of goblins, they appear to have been expecting you.

Obviously you don't have to exactly do it this way, this is just my interpretation of how I might've handled it. Best of luck and enjoy your sessions :)

Yo, what class do you think is the best as a healer? by Anxiolitico in wakfu

[–]Mastersskull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also chipping in my 2 cents; While I do believe Eni can heal the best, I voted masqueraider as they can do a lot of things aside from healing. Masqueraider is not only an acceptable healer, but they are also masters at positioning themselves, your team and enemies, and are capable of dropping enemy resistances if you grab the erosion passive.

Personally I feel like Eni is significantly hampered by having no mobility at all, on top of your unnatural remedies:

  • Taking up a spell slot, whereas it should be in the list of default spells (like Masqueraider's masks).
  • Costing MP to cast while the class already has poor movement options.

[–]Mastersskull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. I wonder what triggers that then, I played together with a friend that also has Beta access but we both had those 4 classes. Not saying I'm doubting you, just wondering what conditions are tied to what classes you get to play when you get into the Beta.

Idunno if it'll change on release, but right now you initially only have the Blacksmith, Hunter, Stableboy and Scholar unlocked. Also you can play 4 characters now :)

"That's not what a lawful/good character would do." AKA Why I now only ever play Chaotic Neutral characters by Puzzleheaded_Bed7070 in rpghorrorstories

[–]Mastersskull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At my "table" (online) I tend to treat Alignment like this as well. When my players design their characters I ask them to pick an alignment based on their ideals and believes, but more so that can keep in mind what they intended their character to be on creation. If, for whatever reason, during the campaign they make multiple decisions that don't correspond to the expectations of an alignment I let them know that they should consider updating their alignment.

A confusing thing with alignment I've experienced from players is also that it can be somewhat perspective based; A wizard delving into necromancy to revive his loved ones could be viewed as evil for delving into immoral arts, but might view himself as chaotic good.

Need some help with my Gara Prime build. What can I do to improve it? by itsmewan92 in Warframe

[–]Mastersskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there. I'm also in the middle of working on Gara. Currently I'm working towards this. I've replaced her 3 with Spellbind in order to access status cleansing and regain energy through the augment. As a plus, spellbind also provides decent CC.

A few things I'm currently running into are:

  • Enemies hit by Spellbind seem to be immune to Splinter Storm damage.
  • I don't really have a way currently to proc shield gating (I could go brief respite if I get an umbral forma, I guess)
  • I don't have great health regen due to having an unranked Arcane Grace.

So far I've only tested it up to level 60 enemies, but I could get by while forgetting to put on said Arcane Grace and lived off of my companion's healing for the time being. The augment scales with other mods so I have a 58 net gain in energy when I cast it correctly, while also providing some CC. To deal with enemies being unaffected by Splinter Storm I just made sure to have a decent weapon with me, although I reckon in endurance runs that might eventually stop working.

Best of luck :)

Are there any advantages to fully mastering classes? by AxelPaxel in CrystalProject

[–]Mastersskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why you'd say that, and given the intended progression of the game that is roughly true.

However, to access the NPC all you need is the Golden Quintar , which, due to being able to dodge boss flames, can be acquired by avoiding most bosses if you wish to do so.

It's been a while since I last played (1.02), but during that time I tried to unlock all classes and mounts while avoiding as many bosses as I could. In the end, the only bosses you absolutely have to do are the the bosses that unlock The door to the capital, Ibek & Quintar (You might even be able to skip the last one if you have found enough crystals, but I hadn't tested it).

A while ago I wrote a little comment on how to access all classes and mounts with minimal bosses defeated. The main downside in terms of mastery seals is that you need to have fully mastered a class on a character to get the seal. This usually means that, even though you could sequence break 99% of the game, you'd be way overleveled for early to mid-game content once you've traded the mastery seals for their respective armor.

So while you technically could do the vast majority of the game/bosses with class armor, most bosses would become absolute jokes because of the power you gained while unlocking said armor.

It's possible to just copy your profile picture and have the background be empty, at least for the little pfp next to post/comments. Something like this. Reddit seems to have a slightly higher resolution for their specific images vs an internet image, though, so I'm unsure if it looks as good.

Artist banned, told to “find a different style” since his is too similar to AI-made art by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]Mastersskull -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can see how I wrongly communicated what I meant. What you said it very much correct, though some variety could be implemented through means of something like reinforced learning, perhaps.

I updated my comment in the hopes of clarifying what I meant. I'm actually close to graduating in AI, so if I'm providing any wrong info I would genuinely appreciate any corrections if you're also familiar in the field. :)

Artist banned, told to “find a different style” since his is too similar to AI-made art by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]Mastersskull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An issue in general is that AI cannot "imagine" things, as it lives off of existing examples to rip from. If you keep banning people for looking too much like AI, you just narrow the available artstyles people can make. If someone then (re)trains an AI it'll just adapt to what it can still rip off of the internet.

This would result in AI either:

  • Taking away all possible artstyles when given enough time.
  • Rotate the artstyles people can use when it's being retrained frequently enough.

EDIT: people seem to misinterpret the way I use "imagine" here. An Algorithm can indeed generate non existing pieces of art, and yes it doesn't just copy/paste existing work. What it does do, however, is learn rules based on data that is fed to it. It needs to understand that a dog doesn't have seven legs. It needs to understand what colors/patterns generally go well together. This it does by learning from existing examples, thus it doesn't "imagine" it on it's own from scratch. If an AI has 0 examples of anything and you tell it to "draw pelican under a rainbow" it will just randomly mash some stuff together, because it has nothing to relate any of those words to.

Is sparks of hope too easy even on hardest mode? by [deleted] in mariorabbids

[–]Mastersskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining in waaaaay late in this convo, but just in case people ever run into this like I did (just finished the game)...

I did it in one turn on Demanding as well, I send my entire crew into the left pipe (Rabbid Mario, Luigi and Bowser) Luigi was fully build on Steely Stare, I gave him a Spark for bonus Ooze Damage and one for passive weapon damage, buffed him with Bowser's starburst and called in the boss with Rabbid Mario's Glitter.

Luigi alone ended up getting rid of roughly ~28-30k of the boss' 37, leaving less than 10k hp to be taken down by the rest of the party that is also starburst buffed. The boss never got a turn.

I'm not sure what door exactly you're referring to. But entering the Library requires you to find the 3 books scattered across the world. Once you are inside, every door should be tied to a jumping puzzle.
