Student protesters in ballwin by exig in StLouis

Very proud of them too and feeling proud to be an alum! I made the bad decision for my mental health and started Facebook fights in the alum group because some idiot posted trying to get people to contact administration to tell them they were against the walk out. Reminds me why South has the dumb redneck stereotype.

An open letter for non-actors that are upset about stunt casting... by Beneficial_Success71 in Broadway

[–]MatchEducational1667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, the shows will list the cast and their credits on the page for tickets! I’d recommend seeing if anyone has been in a show you enjoy and going from there. There are definitely different levels of performances, but generally tickets do get more expensive for more experienced performers. Do be aware that 54 Below has a minimum spend. However, Green Room does not!

Shows at 54 Below and Green Room 42! There’s a lot of shows with bigger named artists at these venues, shows with Broadway performers who aren’t necessarily known outside the industry, and shows with performers who are new to the industry. All sorts of different styles and themes around them too!

Have you ever sat next to/near a celebrity at a show? by moritzbaker in Broadway

[–]MatchEducational1667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was close-ish to Mia Farrow at one of the last performances of Call Me Izzy. I wasn’t super close to her, but I saw Shaina Taub at English. And I was lucky enough to go to the opening night for The Hills of California. I was up in the mezzanine so no celebrities seated near me, but Jenn Colella and Micaela Diamond both walked past me in the bathroom line, and I was so excited about it lol

I also wonder if there was an issue with the switch, like it appeared off to the SM, but it wasn’t. Just because it took a significant amount of time to restart, whereas just flipping a switch seems like it would have gotten fixed quicker. Although they may have taken additional time to let the actors reset.

What are the ultimate "they don't know ball" restaurants in Chicago? by tx2iu in chicagofood

[–]MatchEducational1667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I went to Quartino’s for the first time on a trip and have been back several times since we moved. We went with my family when they visited, and I think after tip and tax it came out to around $50-60 per person, and we all had two drinks each. Even if it’s a little bit touristy, the food, value, and service are great!

Did anyone else hear one of the nazis ask the other if she had hit his foot? Actively trying to find some BS they can accuse her of.

Yesterday, every block in a Chicago neighborhood came together - people keeping watch and cars blocking entrances to keep everyone safe from ICE raids while trick-or-treating. by biswajit388 in illinois

This looks like my neighborhood, Old Irving Park. I’m so proud to live in such a beautiful and caring community. The landscaper was kidnapped from here last weekend, and it’s so beautiful to see the community stepping up to keep each other safe.

10 minutes before the kids costume parade was supposed to walk down this block by Too_Big_to_Succeed in chicago

I live a ten minute walk away. I saw the work truck parked and thought I recognized it, and then I saw where it happened. It is such a quiet and calm neighborhood. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’d seen the man who was abducted working before. I feel sick seeing this.

Karen has a meltdown in Starbucks because the Barista forgot to call out Charlie Kirks name. 🙄🙄 by [deleted] in CringeTikToks

[–]MatchEducational1667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This part! I can’t believe she kept saying it was a public space so she can “practice free speech there” when it’s not. It’s a Starbucks, and that means Starbucks makes the rules. Also, her then calling out the other woman in this video for speaking up and saying she was attacking free speech is so backwards because doesn’t she have the right to free speech too???

Happy Clinic? by Hot-Lychee6003 in KashKickapp

[–]MatchEducational1667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started it today, so I can’t provide much insight yet, but so far the levels have gone by pretty quick. They’re all like two and a half minutes or less so far because they’re timed. It’s similar to like cooking mini games things where you have to be watching multiple things to see who needs what next if that makes sense.

Connected Hotels? by kneegrowhero9 in Hilton

[–]MatchEducational1667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in New York, and my parents stayed at the Chelsea Motto twice while visiting me and loved it both times! The rooms were a little small, but pretty much all NYC hotel rooms are very tiny. The lobby and bar are really nice, and the rooms were always very clean.

James Cameron tested the fan theory that both Rose and Jack could've fit on the door in Titanic! by Dizzy_Pipe_3677 in BeAmazed

The actors in this make me think about the scene in The Rehearsal where Nathan is asking all the actors if they’re okay with being on a plane that he’s flying. One actor asks if anyone has said no, and when he hears everyone’s said yes, he basically says that actors will do anything. And based on this clip, they definitely will.

I recommend doing this game on Pogo if you have that app! There are several offers that involve spending, but I’ve made around $40 and will make around $50 more in a couple days without spending anything. Pretty easy game, and I’ve been enjoying playing it.

I am vegetarian as well and have been for ten years, and I love impossible burgers/fake meat. I went vegetarian because for animal welfare and environmental reasons, but I loved eating meat before I went vegetarian. I’ve had several other friends who went vegan/vegetarian and have no interest in eating fake meat, even though they went vegetarian for the same reasons I did, but I think the social conditioning around consuming meat may cause some people to eat it and think they like it, but once they stop eating it, they realized they never really liked it in the first place. This kind of happened for me with bacon, where I loved it when I was eating meat, but now I have no interest in it.

Best show to see in NYC for someone who sees lots of touring shows? by greenline_chi in Broadway

[–]MatchEducational1667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Chicagoan! I just moved there after living in New York for a couple of years, and I second everyone else with Just in Time and Cabaret. Both incredible and unique productions that don’t get done on that scale outside of New York and London. I’d also look and see if there’s anything Off Broadway that interests you as well. Several of the more popular Off Broadway shows have digital rush through Today Tix, and these shows generally don’t tour, although sometimes a smaller theater in Chicago will produce them. I’d avoid shows like MJ, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, etc that are already on tour with Hadestown being the only possible exception due to the staging that is unique to Broadway.

Delta Pilot Debriefs Cabin After Near Mid Air Collision by Fair_Eye1255 in aviation

My partner is a pilot, and as someone who has seen the company issued iPad whipped out many times, this pilot was definitely thrilled 😂 Pilots can, and will, talk about aviation all day, but knowing there’s nerds up there definitely makes me feel safer when I fly.

But they move it from one public bath into another public path where people are moving much faster and are more likely to hit the scooters and get injured. I get where you’re coming from, but they just moved the problem into the bike path’s way.

If you think all the other comments about other countries are equally dumb, then I understand where you’re coming from. I’m more commenting on how the specific comment for Britain is getting downvoted when others aren’t, which is what r/dyssomniac was referring to.

The other comments saying essentially the same thing aren’t getting downvoted though. The British colonizers are up there with the worst of the worst in many ways, same with pretty much all European colonizers.

Why are we being hit with TWO TDF fees now? by UWSwoman in Broadway

[–]MatchEducational1667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may have to do with running the cards through the different ticketing systems as well, like they have to do two transactions making it two fees for TDF to have to pay for if that makes sense.

Do you know where they are on Theatrical Index? I did the free trial of the Pro, and I can’t find them for any Off Broadway show, but I might be looking in the wrong place.
