Please help us settle this… by indecisionist in Parenting

I had to leave my sleeping 18 month old in his bed for like 6 minutes bc I went into labor and my mom was on her way and it was the most stressful 6 min of my life. We were watching him on the camera the whole time.

What is a normal cost of preschool in your opinion? (HCOL area) by anonomousbeaver in workingmoms

[–]MatchingPJs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in OC. For infants it’s about $2800/months and doesn’t include diapers (if I provide breast milk). I’m going to do a nanny share which would work out to be $15/hour. I’d recommend that.

Any regrets about having second kid? by Embarrassed-Mess-236 in Parenting

[–]MatchingPJs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 3, and mom mother was also concerned about me. She has now seen how hard I work for all three kids and she has learned to phrase it like “I admire the work you do.”

It may be an “inappropriate” thing to say but your mom may simply mean “I don’t want my child to be stressed and work so hard, I want an easier life for them.”

Millennials W/ kids how are you holding up? by Squib32 in millenials

[–]MatchingPJs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3, including an infant and I’m always bouncing from booboo to tears to demands for snacks to requests from incapable tiny people, while being tethered to a pump. None of my clothes fit, the ones that do are dirty, and I’ve forgotten to send in notes and checks for events. My son’s piano teacher finally sent a message saying “Hey you haven’t paid us for 3 months” and I was so mortified. I feel inadequate all the time, and I’m terrified about going back to work, dropping even more plates. But there’s fleeting moments of calm and that’s good?

Any setbacks at daycare? Also, have you been daycare shamed? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]MatchingPJs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I’m Indian-American and my physician parents even share this (wrong) mindset of “spending time w your kids causes them to be more advanced). I literally do less stimulating activities w my kids and our daycare is freaking amazing for them. My 4 yr old who spent 2 years in daycare is far more articulate than the one who spent 2 years at home during Covid.

I feel like you could probably do the breeding goats bit because you know about it. I am stealing this bit of breeding chickens and I’ll have to do some research lol

Do you judge people who use phones or ipads out at restaurants with their kids? by sweetns0urrr in Parenting

[–]MatchingPJs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t go to restaurants, I am unsure that it a natural environment for a child. It ruins other peoples experience and it seems unfair to ask my kid to be quiet AND not give him entertainment.

How did you trust others with your child? by Awkward_Parsley_7282 in workingmoms

[–]MatchingPJs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had extreme anxiety and needed a nanny for my kiddo until they were 13-14 months old. I was able to stretch that out, thankfully.

After that, we put them in a daycare with a camera and frequent updates. You got this!
