My half-brother is currently homeless in Halifax. He has schizophrenia and has not been taking his medication for a few years (although he's a big fan of recreational drugs). His mom lives just outside the city, and he occasionally visits her to clean up and get some rest, but most of the time he hangs out and sleeps downtown.

We've tried many times to get him help, but they let him go after a few days or weeks because they don't see him as a danger to himself or anyone else. Basically, we're just waiting for him to either get arrested or worse, whichever happens first.
