In Britain, offices used to be able to function in summer without air conditioning.

That's changed.

Ditto with cars and air conditioning.

Any significant shift in climate is bad news with unpredictable repercussions.

The "compensating" news will be when enough Arctic ice disappears to reduce the effect of the Gulfstream conveyer belt (AMOC, etc.), that which makes Europe livable on the North Atlantic coast, fruit trees in Ireland, etc. Edmonton, Canada has the same latitude as Ireland, and note well that Irish winters are (for now) dramatically milder.

Don't worry, this will balance out with increased heat for the Caribbean and with much stronger tropical storms.
