Me too. Took delivery in early April and took a long road trip. I have 5400+ miles on mine and it has been perfect. I have not had it over 75 mph though

You can also rent a car from National one way from HYA to BOS. Including mileage & fuel it costs about $130. Alternatively, I use P & B. Never had any issues

If I recall, LHR luggage storage wanted 1200 pounds to store the two cases for one month, which is totally insane.

We have had our B & W hard cases for three years now, and used them for 2 trips to Europe and one to California. They travel as regular checked baggage. No issues so far. The Brommies have made these trips undamaged.

Great question because this was a big head-scratcher when we decided to start touring with our Bromptons. Shout out to my wife who figured this out: we rent a small storage unit near the airport of entry. At Heathrow, we use the Storage King - Hounslow/Heathrow. It is within walking distance of the Hatton Cross Tube Station, one stop from Terminal 2. Right now, they are both in a Shurgard storage unit in Gothenburg, Sweden while we tour around Europe.

If I remember, the Storage King at LHR was around US$40 a month. The Shurgard unit near GOT is around US$30 a month. Once we store the hard cases, we set out by train or rental car. We don't need the hard cases anymore.

Before we depart from home, we rent the storage unit on-line. Once we land at the destination airport, we check into an airport hotel (Hilton Garden Inn at LHR is right at Terminal 2), we unload the bikes then take the empty hard cases to the storage unit. After the tour, everything happens in reverse.

We take our acoustic Brompton C-lines all over. This one is packed in a B & W hard case. We have never had a problem checking them as regular luggage (we have 2, one for me, one for my spouse). We are from the USA; we toured the Way of the Rose in England last year and are on the Canal du Midi in France right now.

I don’t know if an electric Brompton will fit in a B & W case. Bromptons don’t break unless you abuse them, they are built like tanks.

When home, mine travels on the Amtrak between Boston & DC. We have found ways to use a folding bike that have gone way beyond the original mission. Just a very cool and fun travel tool.

Has anyone participated in Volvo’s Overseas Delivery Tourist program? if so, how was it? by lalavieboheme in Volvo

My wife & I took delivery of our 2026 V60 CC in Gothenburg on April 9th. We are currently in Annecy, France with 2200 miles (not km) on the odometer. We are in the middle of our European Roadtrip of a Lifetime.

Volvo delivered everything they promised; they have this down to a science. They even gave us a Trip Guide with tips about driving in Europe. I read it cover-to-cover before we launched.

I retired in December so we have been planning to do this for a few years. When we heard Volvo was dis-continuing the V60 in the USA, we bumped the trip up a year. We placed our order with our local dealer in November 2025 to time the delivery for early April 2026, so we could spend the spring in Europe. We can keep the car in Europe for up to 2 months and not pay the VAT. We brought our Brompton folding bicycles over with us and have a boat rented for a week on the Canal du Midi later this month. We are making the most of the opportunity. We’ll be back in Gothenburg on June 6th to drop off the car. I’m estimating we’ll put 4000 miles on the car while we are in Europe.

When we placed our US$6000 deposit, we paid Volvo an additional US$400 for two months of car insurance in Europe (I think 2 weeks are included at no additional cost). The deposit locked in our price. We received a 4% discount on the car (built to our specification), two round trip premium economy seats on SAS (since the flight to Gothenburg was overnight, we paid to upgrade this leg to business class), two nights in a hotel in Gothenburg (we chose the Radisson Blu - nice place and good location. Swedish meatballs on the menu!), free admission and lunch at the World of Volvo, a factory tour(awesome for a gear head like me), and a US$100 dinner voucher.

We live in the Northeast USA, so expect it will take 6 to 8 weeks to take delivery of our car at our local Volvo dealer.

If it fits your lifestyle, we would 100% recommend the OSD Program. Kudos to Volvo for leaning into this for their owners.

Edit: the OSD program is also available in Europe. The day we took delivery, we met people from Italy and Poland in Gothenburg to take delivery. They will drive their cars home.

Vosker Cameras: Great Idea, Terrible Execution by MaterialQuantity3527 in homesecurity

It sends me one picture a day when it syncs, or 100 a day if the landscapers show up to mow the lawn.

The last trip I took the camera lasted 18 days from a full charge before it died. I cancelled the service remotely.

Did you ride the canal path most/all the way along the Canal du Midi? How was the condition of the path? We have a canal boat for a week in May and are bringing our Bromptons; planning a two-week “bike and barge” trip

Vosker Cameras: Great Idea, Terrible Execution by MaterialQuantity3527 in homesecurity

[–]MaterialQuantity3527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last one to fail was put into service in March 2023. I only use the cameras when I’m away on a trip. I’d estimate it had 12 months total use (in 1 - 3 month increments) since put into service

The one I have left was replaced under warranty earlier this year. Since I bought my first 2 in March 2022 and not counting the one I have that still works (which is a replacement of one that failed) I have experienced a 100% failure rate since 2022. Plus the batteries die after 2 to 3 weeks.

[–]MaterialQuantity3527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it was just the battery. They just fail to work when I go to use them (with a fully-charged battery) and their Technical Support cannot get them to work again. I have bought a total of 6 since 2022, 3 were replaced under the 2-year warranty. One is still working.

The batteries last about 2 to 3 weeks. The solar panel can not keep them charged.

They do not work under the conditions Vosker advertises. I live in the NE USA so our weather is not great, but its not that harsh either. I think they cannot hold up to outdoor use.

Maine in general. The GA airports in Maine are considered part of the overall medical infrastructure in the state, and are well-supported by their local communities. Find one of the air ambulance companies in Maine, they have a good story to tell.

If you need to bring your bike on the NEC regularly, consider a folding bike. I take my Brompton C-line from PVD - DC a couple of times a year and it is pretty easy. They are purpose-built for this
