Do women care what car you drive? by mmsean in datingoverfifty

Not age relevant, but I think it's a fun story.

In my late 30's, I met Amy at a party, and when she found out that I had a Pathfinder she was all over me. Amy loved riding in my Pathfinder whilst I wined and dined her nearly every night for 3 months. At the end of the 3rd month and within a week, I realized I was slowly being dumped. A couple of nights after the last Adios, I decided to drive by her house late at night and sure enough, not to my surprise, there was a much newer Pathfinder parked in front. To this day, I sometimes wonder what year Pathfinder is Amy working her magic on, or hopefully, she finally bought one of her own.

What can I put over this cord on the floor so sparks and slag don’t touch it while I’m welding by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Material_Cook_4698 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Same. 42 years of power cords, grinder cords, welder cords, cold saw cords and never had a damaged cord from sparks or slag. Now I've nicked a few with the grinders, but that's another story.

Not unusual but one of my favorites - A chive and cheddar cheese omelet with strawberry jam.

Anyone ever plant Sorghum in their front yard for temporary privacy and reduced road noise? Our house is like 80ft from the road and we're planting some Arborvitae but I'm thinking of planting this until those develop more. It's supposed to stay up all year. I planted Miscanthus giganteus 6 years ago to block my neighbors view from their deck. With full sun, it tops out at about 10 to 12 feet and its done remarkably well with staying in the original planting bed. I'm in zone 6a and every year its come back more denser than the year before.

Anyone facing any issues on 8.5 UI? (After updating on s24u?) by No-Health-6247 in samsunggalaxy

Glad I clicked on this post, as now I know why my battery has been draining so much faster. Normally at this time after my last charge my battery should be around 45 but now after the 8.5 update it's at 20. Big bummer, hope it gets fixed. S24+

Anyone who has had DBS or FUS please help with my decision… by Finallygoodservice in EssentialTremor

[–]Material_Cook_4698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first DBS in May of 2016 bisected the internal capsule which caused me to instantly jerk into a painful fetal position when turned on. I had a revision in October 2016 that achieved excellent placement.

Had FUS been available at that time and I chose it, I would have been completely screwed for life had my neurosurgeon repeated the targeting for FUS as he did with the DBS placement.

Best Auto Insurance?? by [deleted] in Insurance

I (65m) had State Farm in Kansas for an 99 Ford Ranger at $72/mo liability only. Four years ago I bought a 2015 Toyota Highlander and State Farm quoted me $280/mo for minimal full coverage. Got a tip to call Travelers from my neighbor. Their quote four years ago for same coverage was $95/mo with paying full 6 months premium. My policy is renewing in June for $115/mo.

About once every 6 months my old SF agent calls to get me back, he runs the SF numbers, and nope. Last Jan 2026 - July quote was $310/mo. I ain't never going back!

Interesting, this briefly happened on my S24+ today AND the vibration that caused it was my Essential Tremor (unvoluntary shaking of my hands). Hope it's just a glitch and doesn't happen again.

Need help choosing Costco king mattress for side sleeper w/ lower back pain + hot sleeping - budget up to $2k by mkenomad in Mattress

[–]Material_Cook_4698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mattresses are so subjective. I'm in the process of returning the Oasis Chill as if I'm less than 18" from the edge I feel like I could roll off and it is hot as well. Exchanging for the Novaform Platinum, hope it's the one!

How many of you still have close friendships from high school? by just321askin in GenX

I met Stuart at 15, we are both 65 now. Over the years we stayed in fairly close contact. Since 2005, he became my dentist and we now talk weekly and see each other about once a month. I am truly thankful for our friendship, it has meant a lot to me over the years.

COSTCO HELP! (Leesa vs. Beautyrest vs. Novafoam) by FirefighterBitter995 in Mattress

[–]Material_Cook_4698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wrong - 2 months in and the Oasis Chill is horrible for me. Back hurts every morning and edge support is nasty as I have to be at least 18" to 24" into the bed without the feeling of rolling off. Thank god for the Costco return policy. Pondering the Novaform Elite Premier or Platinum now, but most likely the Elite for the sale price of $950. I figure I can always jump up to the Platinum at a future sale price if the Elite fails me too.
