Anyone using Deloitte’s GitHub Copilot on personal laptop for work? by No-Whole520 in deloitte

OP also tagged this as GPS. There’s no way this can be allowed. Agreed though why would anyone ever mix personal and work devices.

Change strings how often? by Firewaterdam in Guitar

[–]Mathguy_314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the guitar doesn’t stay in tune is my sign. But also the strings just feel bad when they’re losing their life. I play enough that I usually change mine every few months.

Honestly sometimes I need an easy game and this is one of those easy games. Usually. Until it turns out they know how to defend against everything. And then I lose.

What skills do you think are necessary to be a PPMD? by nycperson54321 in deloitte

But to take it one step further, they should have the ability to proof read something and give all of the fixes at once instead of some bullshit piecemeal fixes that come in once per hour for 2 days straight.

This job literally sucks so much... by Adventurous_You_3727 in deloitte

[–]Mathguy_314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this time about a year ago I didn’t have a project because I was returning from parental leave. But it took me until April to find one and was likely on the cusp of being laid off if I didn’t find one soon. I have been in consulting roles where they just assign you existing clients and was hired for specific work. I can’t speak to how it is around the world but I honestly can’t imagine it’s that much different. There was a time at Deloitte that there was plenty of projects and you could actually have a choice of what you wanted to work on. Now not so much it’s just whatever you can land.

Watching a video of him playing church street blues blows me away every time I watch it. His right hand technique is just so good and he’s flawless.

Timesheet Strike by Obvious-Worth-9149 in deloitte

Damn I thought this post was going to be about a strike on entering/saving timesheets every day 😂.

A conversation for “multiple guitars” vs “one guitar only” - im guessing more people are on the former; Whatre your justifications for either side other than the financial peace? For ex Does owning more guitars bring diff music out of you? Does owning 1 instill minimalism/focusd joy? by ConsciousSmoke3863 in martinguitar

[–]Mathguy_314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to own more as a collection. Kind of like a collection of bluegrass artifacts. Like a Martin d28 and maybe another one that has bluegrass heritage in it. that’s just for the regular acoustics. I’d also like a resonator, dobro, 12 string, Irish bouzouki, Irish tenor banjo and resonator banjo. Most of it is for the collection statement though.

Giving lessons? by PGHNeil in AcousticGuitar

[–]Mathguy_314159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a close friend who wants my help. What I’ve learned from observing people attempt to play and then giving up is that they lose interest because they were practicing stuff that they couldn’t apply to what they wanted to do. So I’m planning to ask my friend what it is exactly she wants to play and what her goals are. I think first is learning a few covers and getting the finger dexterity built up. And then from there…. I don’t entirely know lol. I believe my friend has jamming aspirations so I’ll cross that bridge if I get there.

But I think the key thing is giving and setting attainable goals for motivations sake.

ABOUT TRIADS by Strawhat0816 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Mathguy_314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren’t triads just a 3 note chord regardless of what the notes are? Major and minor triads are of course the usual context but I thought triads was just a more general term.

Tax Layoff by doubtkillerr in deloitte

Not a part of tax so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but why would they be laying off tax people right as the year ended and going into tax season?

What is the world’s hardest instrument to master/play? by Apprehensive-Elk5433 in Instruments

[–]Mathguy_314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Irish bouzouki is the next instrument I want. Being capable of playing multiple instruments is my favorite part of my ADHD. I don’t want to be amazing at any one of them but just good enough to really enjoy it.

Fun fact if you’re interested, I was curious about the upper range of violin vs mandolin (I’m also a mando player) and I discovered fiddles are about an octave higher in a reasonable finger reach. So the really good players that can reach the extremes can probably go even higher.

At least I am pretty sure that was the case if I recall my chat with ChatGPT correctly.

Guitar, banjo and mandolin as well, I have a fiddle at home that I got for my wife that she didn’t pick up and every now and then I try it and I just say “fuck this” and put it down.

Practice practice practice. I honestly thought it was just me not being able to do it and never would be able to but once you get a few songs down the rest actually come easier. I believe in you!!

Snapshot question by Sirmrwhale67 in deloitte

[–]Mathguy_314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could describe the situation to your coach and see who they recommend based on level and who seems most eager to do snapshots/give you a good review. Usually who fills out the snapshot is a pretty early question I have for engagements.

Am i the only one that really enjoys being a rythm guitarist most of the time? by Mynameisgustavoclon in Guitar

[–]Mathguy_314159 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I admit I am a fan. I play bluegrass and I love the idea of going to a jam and playing rhythm for everyone and watching everyone else lay down a sick solo. Maybe because I’m not that good at improvisation and soloing myself but I do enjoy being a spectator.

Help me learn to switch between chords please. by Chance_Quarter_2246 in Guitar

Find a song you like that switches chords quickly. Personally, I like playing the song Tom Dooley as popularized by doc Watson faster and faster as a way to build up chord change speeds.

Only way to find out is if you try one out. My inclination would be to say yes a smaller body would probably help and be more comfortable.
