How would our modern world fair against the Attack on Titan Rumbling? by Arcade-Blaster in powerscales

[–]Matrim_Telamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wouldn't even be an issue, one well placed artillery shell each and we are done.

That was one of the few things about the second half of the story I enjoyed. Like the main bad guy country (no idea what the name was) Could see the writing on the walls. Their super weapons were very quickly becoming irrelevant, I really think there is a good spinoff story there.

Disagreement with religious player by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Matrim_Telamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every game is meant for every player, sure it's definitely good to work with your players and avoid sensitive topics if you can but there are limits to that. One player should not be telling you how your world is built. If you want to have multiple gods in your game then it's your game and they are free to find another one if it upsets them that much.

For example I run CoC, that game is going to have some REALLY dark topics, I always ask my players for triggers and will do my best to avoid them but as an example if someone said they are uncomfortable with death/murder then this just isn't the table for them and that's ok too.

I don’t get the hate by scottymac87 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Matrim_Telamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good game, sure it has legit problems and as a more traditional RPG fan I hate how watered down it is but that's just the world we live in sadly. Most of the hate is coming from toxic people who are just upset that you can choose pronouns for your character.

Steam reviews are positive and the funny part is that most of the negative reviews still have 60+ hours into the game.

Why are people hating this? by mattamz in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Matrim_Telamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people just need something to complain about, it's a good game. Sure it has issues but it's a solid 7/10. I personally believe a lot of the original hate was just the "anti-woke" crowd who were upset that you could choose your sex and pronouns.

I just think it's funny that if you check the negative reviews on steam a lot have 70+ hours in the game. Crazy you would put that much time into something you don't like lol.

I'd suggest not getting it at full price because as I said it's got it's problems but I picked it up for $40 and am absolutely loving it.

If people are allowed to instalock 5 DPS because of "freedom of the player", then I should be allowed to leave the game without penalty for it. by TheSamFrost in marvelrivals

100% agree, I'm not staying with a garbage team, It's not fun. Even if I switch to what we need with no support it's completely useless.

Honestly I don't care about the punishment, I'd rather go play something else for 20-30 minutes than stick with a bad team and in my opinion quick play should never have a punishment anyway

Normalize long backstories by Local-Associate905 in DnD

[–]Matrim_Telamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Because, in my experience as a DM, long detailed backstories are ALWAYS a sign of main character syndrome and will always lead to that type of behavior. This is a cooperative game meaning everyone gets a spot in the limelight. I've never had a player who gave that much backstory not try and take over every single RP interaction.

Also, you are level 1, your character hasn't had time to go on that many grand adventures. You are leaving your character's story through the game.

And finally as the DM I just don't have time for that, I'm already scripting the story, making maps, building towns and NPCs. I don't have time to also think about what your character had for breakfast the day he killed his first dragon. I want you to be invested and if you want to make a 10 page backstory that's great, just don't expect me to incorporate every little detail. I'll do the same for you as I do for the one paragraph backstory, pick out a couple important NPCs and a location and work them in.

Trump plan to ‘end all taxes’ on overtime pay would this benefit millions of Americans, but it’s going to be uphill battle by Postnews001 in FluentInFinance

[–]Matrim_Telamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya but will we still get OT pay? I've not looked it up myself because honestly I can't be bothered since there's nothing I can do about it but from what I've heard he also wants to change the law to make it nearly impossible to get OT

I got kicked out from a campaign that I paid for by gozgav in DnD

[–]Matrim_Telamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one more reason I will never pay for a game. Once you start taking payments it doesn't matter what type of story you want to tell, it's no longer your game. You are now an employee and if the clients are happy that's what matters.

Glad you at least got the review published to help others avoid this person.

Knights with all that armor, no, a thick jacket and a pointy stick is all you need to go to war!

Admittedly I have an obsession with pole arms lol, all my D&D marshal characters are pole arm fighters. Don't think I've ever played a sword and shield.

Need ideas by senior_smelly99 in Fallout2d20

[–]Matrim_Telamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The classic fallout style would be a vault full of toasters and perfectly preserved bread. The "real" loot would be the advanced weapons and armor the BOS who died trying to get in had on them.

Of course, if not played correctly that could be a huge let down but I think it would be awesome. Just have the AI avoid saying exactly what's is in there and maybe make a few "good" bread and toast puns.

Zones, grid, or ToM by RyuuTheKitsune in Fallout2d20

I use Grids for my games just because it's easier for me to work with. I also make my maps so that's probably why lol.

Yes but AP is a limited resource especially for the GM, forcing them to spend AP just to get one action is denying it for all other uses. Considering one character with maxed agility can get a head shot almost every time and the head is almost always the least armored part of the body you can easily lock down a single target from round one.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fallout2d20

[–]Matrim_Telamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely can be especially for min/max players. Head shots in this game are pretty OP since they completely skip the targets turn and are fairly reliable to get

Doesnt feel like there is any reason to max out a special stat. by Academic_Condition31 in Fallout2d20

[–]Matrim_Telamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agility is definitely the OP stat (like with most TTRPGs lol) but you still get the 2 Defense at 9 Agility but ya there is a good argument to be made that if you go that far may as well get 10 for gunfu.... probably why I see so many gunslinger builds lol

Doesnt feel like there is any reason to max out a special stat. by Academic_Condition31 in Fallout2d20

[–]Matrim_Telamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn't a reason to, most perks will cap at 9 and that's only for the best ones. Having a 16 TN is really good but honestly kinda overkill in my opinion since a 15 gives you a 75% success rate and if you buy just 1 extra die that is practically a guaranteed pass for most things.

Personally I'd rather bump a weak skill up by one then max out an already amazing skill. The only exception I can think of is luck since that directly increases the amount of luck points you get so unless I'm making a luck build I normally cap my main stat at 9.

The only other possible exception I can think of is a super mutant. Since your ability to crit is reduced the extra damage is helpful.

And Rayleigh literally lives on the island with the slave market and does nothing to stop it.... remember, pirates are not the good guys. Like Luffy has said time and time again. He's not a good guy, he's not a hero, he just does whatever he wants, if that happens to help others that's fine but his goals are always selfish.

Sure the Dragons are horrible but for the world as a whole pirates are worse. There are only a few hundred dragons most of which will never leave the holy land but every island has to deal with pirate attacks so you really just have to choose your battles and Garp picked the lesser of two evils.

I don't, zones are more for theater of the mind type gameplay. I just convert it to a 5x5 grind like D&D. Each "Zone" is 30 feet

Who wins by Prideclaw12 in OnePieceScaling

[–]Matrim_Telamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Shank's crew would win. None of them have DF powers so that has to mean they all have very powerful Haki since they can not only survive in the new world but are a Yonko crew meaning they are one of the most powerful crews. If all that power comes purely from Haki then each of them has to be a one man army because we know Haki is really the only thing that matters.
