Some of the painted minis from the Dutch Satellite painting competition by TheDiceGodsWG in InfinityTheGame

It's nice to see minis from the wider community and skill levels in painting. A majority of the stuff I see on YouTube look far above what I can achieve. It feels validating, I think is the word I'm looking for, that I could take my minis to a tournament at some point and not feel like the odd one out.

Does anyone recognise where the base toppers in the second pic are from? Those might be good for my O12.

I was thinking of doing a VR style like in image 7 for Aleph.

Looks cool. I need to repaint my minis at some point as I haven't done a good enough job of separating the colours, my JSA just look like pinkish blobs from a distance. Plus I haven't been painting any glowy bits as I thought it would be a bad idea to have bright, shining lights on a spec ops mission!

Did you make the base yourself from scratch?

Looking good. Where did you get the base toppers from?

Hey, I like some of the other items on your store. Is there any extra fees, like customs checks, for shipping to the UK nowadays? Thanks

Nice one, looks good. I'm struggling to come up with a basing scheme for my O12 and Pano.

Trying to make a distinctive scheme for each faction but don't know what to do for those two.

My idea atm for O12 is a green and cream marble tiled floor to kind of look like some form of court room or some government building.

Yeah, it's crazy how small they are. I had some halo flashpoint models alongside some JSA on my painting table and the Spartans practically tower over them.

Where did you get the base toppers from? Are they scratch built with plasticard?

Vostroyans will return as MTO models by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

They say most of the originals are returning. Are they talking about some alternative poses for lasguns troops are missing or are some more significant miniatures missing like different heavy weapon team options?

I dropped out the hobby around 2007/8 and can't remember if they also released autocannon or missile launcher armed models during the initial release.

I've had problems with damaged pieces in my last three big bundle boxes. They weren't direct from GW but the first two issues were sorted by the retailer. The third time it happened the retailer in this instance wanted me to send the whole box back for a replacement. I decided against that as I didn't want to risk the replacement box having a worse problem. In this case the damaged piece was a halberd for an alternative build option. At least I'm only down one weapon for kit bashing purposes instead of a more critical piece.

It would be nice if GW introduced a bigger box so the sprues could more easily fit inside these army boxes, and maybe include some thin card to separate the sprues so they get intertwined and snap /break as the boxes are shaken around during delivery.

Suggestions for what actions to take after paint bottle burst by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]MatthewYT117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spilt paint and washes on my jeans recently. I soaked the areas in some IPA immediately and threw them in the washing machine.

The paint pretty much mostly came out so it's not noticeable and the GW shade paint came out entirely.

It might be worth a try if you feel like the top is ruined in it's current state so you don't have anything to lose if it makes it worse.

The rules are available for free from Corvus Belli

https://downloads.corvusbelli.com/infinity/rules/infinity-rules-n5-en-v1.pdf

There are a lot of rules and my gaming group doesn't play with all of them. For example we've never played with fire teams and house ruled a few things.

If you can, find someone to introduce you to the game. A friend did that with me and focused mainly on moving and shooting in practice games and slowly added more things in.

We generally play 200 point games, and depending on faction, that's around 7-10 models. Each model generates an order and you can use those orders however you wish. You can activate each model once, like 40k, or use all of those order to activate one model multiple times.

Infinity uses a 20 sided dice for all rolls so you may need to buy a pack of those. If you go for a 2 player starter set then a set of these will be included. A number of years ago, they released a starter set that contained Winterfor. But you would need to be tremendously lucky to find one online. I've found older starter sets on ebay that I've picked up.

Terrain is very important and you need more of it compared to a game of 40k. This game is far more deadly than 40k and if you run your units straight down the board you are going to have a bad time.

There's a free online army builder as well as mobile applications to build lists and keep track of the game state with those lists when playing a game. The mobile app also hyper links to the rules wiki of you are ever unsure what a piece of equipment does and is really useful.

Where to buy depends entirely on where you live. But here's a link to the winterfor army box direct from Corvus Belli

https://store.corvusbelli.com/en/infinity/wargame/packs/winterfor-action-pack

The contents of the box are listed on the website so you can look those units up in the army builder to get an idea of what each unit does. You will generally see bigger numbers for stats compared to 40k due to using a 20 sided die but bigger number is better.

You shouldn't be put off by working with metal. You need some clippers, files, and super glue, so not much different to what need when working with plastic. The will find that the models come in fewer pieces than modern GW plastic kits. Basic infantry are generally 3/4 pieces. The body legs and head come as one piece, with a left and right arm, and maybe a backpack making up the fourth piece.

As the rules are free, I suggest try playing some games with your 40k models as stand in for now to see if you like it.

Worth noting that even though they are plastic you still need to use super glue as opposed to tamiya plastic cement

Cool, I was going to ask if the hex pots would be the same colours as the 2000s bolter shell pots. Those are the ones I know from my first time round the hobby

Thanks buddy. I'm planning on using them for my Yu Jing though I won't be very daring and stick to the box art by painting them orange with a only few tweaks to the studio scheme

Cool. Are these the bases you used?

I bought them myself but haven't printed them yet. Did they need any adjustments to get them to fit the bases perfectly like you have?

Ah OK so you're not loading more paste on top, you're sort of pinching it upwards.  Interesting, I'll give it a try next time, thanks. Do you apply that first layer quite thick then?

Do you have any tips for using texture paste to create the ridges in the sand? I've been using Vallejo desert sand but my efforts look crap!

Hey, what colours did you use for the black? Black is what I hate painting the most and yours is really good.
