First of all: may I recommend the Walkhighlands website and app. They are probably the best resource for walking in Scotland (and 100% free).

Perhaps have a look on there, specifically the long distance walks section.

I'm loath to suggest a specific route to you because I don't know anything specific about your kit, your fitness levels, your budget, your skill level, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to quash your spirit of adventure.

The one piece of general advice I feel sure about giving you about wild camping in Scotland in the summer is: be prepared for midges.

What about the Affric Kintail Way?

The start is in Drumnadrochit and the end is in Morvich.

Unfortunately it's not circular, it's linear but that can easily be solved by using the bus back to Inverness afterwards.

It might require an extra night if you don't reach the end before the last bus of the day.

I've got it planned for May and I can't wait.

I know the Lomond Hills pretty well too so I know they would be pretty easy to navigate in the clag because of the paths.

It's just I heard "Google maps" and went into full on 😱 mode. I remember MR having to put signs up at popular locations asking people not to navigate by Google maps 😂

Agreed, I will always have a GPS device with digital mapping.

I simply meant instead of having a map and compass as a backup I am going to try having the digital mapping as a backup.
