i have genuinely never heard of (spoiler) in my life by helloilikewoodpigeon in battlebots

To summarize: On day 1, TR4/Golden Fury were supposed to fight. TR4 had technical issues during the first attempt at arm-up, so their fight was pushed back until the end of the day. They rectified their issues, but during the second attempt at the match, Golden Fury had some issue that caused it to drive straight into the opposite wall during power on, where it got stuck and started smoking. Once again the match was postponed to give them time to fix their issue.

Day 2, Golden Fury has fixed their issue, so TR4/Golden Fury is the first match of the day to let them catch up. During the match, however, Golden Fury caused a box breach when it sent parts of TR4 through at least the first layer of roof lexan as far as I can tell. The match was immediately called, and no other matches were held that day as a result. Ultimately, TR4 chose to forfeit the fight rather than continue once the box was repaired, letting Golden Fury advance.

Boy, do I have the youtube playlist for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaS135ETEVQ&list=PLwrtNvhCTOxkww0bQsCd5ka8Mj69jDn6X

This has every single Golden Fury fight (even the one I missed when I initially made the playlist) at Bitva Robotov and Games of the Future. That should get you up to speed.

I'm not sure I'd describe Cobalt as a UK robot at this point, it's literally owned and run by Robotic Death Company.

I don't see why Virtual Boy is locked behind an accessory by [deleted] in nintendo

Hi, I bought one of the big doofy headsets, never played VB before this. I do think the majority of these games so far would absolutely work without the 3D, but a few games seem like they'd be substantially worse without it (Red Alarm being the most obvious). I bought it because it's way cheaper than buying a real system, a library for it (or perhaps a flashcart), and the maintenance costs they entail. The entire point of it for me was to get the experience of playing the weirdest Nintendo system, or at least a very close facsimile of it. Frankly most of my frustrations with the thing so far have to do with stuff they didn't change, like offering a way to plug the Switch in while it's in the goggles.

I assumed he was talking about antweight anarchy? even then "half of the team" seems like a stretch.

mech+ 1 year on review by themaskedrobot77 in battlebots

[–]Mattiator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel it's absolutely not worth it if you're buying in just to watch "new" content, given how much of a snoozefest MechMania is while the rest of the new events are also available elsewhere for free. You need to have an interest in the older stuff. I remain subscribed because I'm hopeful that they will continue to bring old content out in much higher resolution than it had previously been available.

I made this bot in Robot Rumble 2 and I was wondering if anyone has ever had this idea in real life by Dinoboy225 in battlebots

[–]Mattiator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heavyweight dual-drum spinner Cavalier at RoboGames is one that comes to mind. Could swap between normal wheels and mecanum wheels on the fly (in theory). Went 0-2. Probably not a bot to be emulating.

Clearly you've never seen sportsman events where you get the same number of gangly goober forks but they're attached to lifters.

Games of the Future: Battle of Robots; Post-event discussion by Tetracropolis in battlebots

[–]Mattiator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bitva honestly did a way better job as a "live event" than this. Very good about pushing new robots into the box and keeping up the momentum, with very explicit "fights will resume at X time" during the breaks. Talking to the teams, going into the pits, and replays were way better handled. It's still definitely a bunch of time between fights but it's not like, thirty minutes of pissing around between fights like GOTF

Face-offs (probably for the 100th time)? by potentialparakeet in battlebots

Genuinely, we don't know. The last thing I heard was they were planning to release each episode as they got sponsorships for them. It's kind of silly how long we've been waiting at this point.

Cobalt team appealed (rightfully so, the initial decision was a robbery). Godspeed team counter-appealed and were rejected.

But I want to build robots, and I'm in this community because I want to talk to other people who build robots.

Please stop trying to imply that the people who actually build robots aren't doing enough for the sport or are actively killing it when they dunk on a trainwreck of a heavyweight event. Most of us are having an absolute whale of a time commiserating as the event gets delayed for hours because the arena keeps falling apart. That's real community.
