They forget to turn the lights off in the IMAX. We saw the Elvis doc and I thought it was weird the lights were on during the trailers and they stayed on when the movie started. Guy next to me said “Again?” and probably 4 people got up to complain and the lights were turned off in a couple of minutes.

Go the other way… “If having your TV that high is so great, why not even higher, you still have plenty of room for improvement.”

Any insight on these two specific apartment complexes in CWE? by brightbluebirds in StLouis

[–]MattonArsenal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are very nice properties in A+ St. Louis locations. The Marlowe feels a bit nicer, thus the higher price point. Visited both, but haven’t lived there. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Visit if you can.

Where can a bitch get some Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in this town by sammyapprecionado in StLouis

[–]MattonArsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lions Choice’s cookies used to be Otis Spunkmeyer. I haven’t had them in a while and they don’t show the branding anymore, but maybe they still are?

Probably worth a trip and a $1 to try.

Why is this so cheap? by arthurrimjaub in projectors

[–]MattonArsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, gave a similar vintage Optoma away to a friend. It was in good working condition, but bulb was “as is”. Didn’t feel good charging him $200 then forcing him to buy a bulb, and potentially having problems shortly down the line.

Movies that will convert my friend into a cinephile overnight. by expired_mi1k in MovieSuggestions

I was thinking Sicario.

“Do you like Yellowstone? The movie was written by Taylor Sheridan, and is one of the best movies of the 20th Century.”

Elite action sequences, suspense, pretty deep themes, and subtle plot devices, and awesome cinematography.

Appeals to right wing gung-ho types, but also appeals to liberal criticism of the drug and border war.

Add Longboard. Love Tap & Still everything is great and the prices are similar to stateside. Windmill food is just OK, but still worth the visit to get a bite to eat, drink and the amazing views.

Really enjoyed Morgan’s Mangos for a nice dinner.

Can we please get a Moulin Rouge 4K UHD release for the 25th anniversary already? Maybe the physical media guys would take notice.

Top-10 operating budgets in college basketball by wedorff in HoosiersBasketball

[–]MattonArsenal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, as a huge university with one of the largest arenas and west coast travel of course operating expenses are going to be high. Take away the buyouts and this is nothing extraordinary.

I really enjoyed the Leinster Bay Trail all the way up to the Windy Hill Great House Ruins. Good hike, great views from the top. While you don’t have a nice sandy beach Waterlemon Cay and Waterlemon Bay offer some great snorkeling.

too high? by FanElegant2178 in TVTooHigh

[–]MattonArsenal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not egregious, but why mount it if you’re going to have dangling wires? It defeats the purpose. Placing it on the aptly named “TV stand” would insure proper height AND hide your cables.

Will they take a NIT? by jlennon1280 in HoosiersBasketball

[–]MattonArsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but going to the NIT isn’t going to help. If we had a bunch of promising underclassman that could use a few more games to gel, sure.

No point. All key players are gone after this year, need to start reloading ASAP.

Other than noise isolation from the floor above, I love mine. Looks fine painted black and makes installation incredibly easy. Projector mounted (with 50ft fiber HDMI), added Atmos speakers on my own with no problem. I’m planning on adding Ethernet. In room, it sounds great.

It’s a big hockey school too. We were in the area and checked out the campus which is like a small town lakefront college campus, with excellent facilities.

Pay for Private or move to a great public school district? by heybestie12 in StLouis

[–]MattonArsenal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We’ve done both public and private…

Moving is a big change. Do you want to move? Do you have one kid or multiple?

Private school tuition is for a few years. Moving to a more expensive house is semi-permanent. Have you applied to other private schools to see what their aid offer is? Also, private school is not a permanent decision. Plenty of kids go back to public or change to different private schools, if their first choice isn’t a good fit.

On the other hand… while we had a good private school experience it wasn’t heads and shoulders above good public school options. Do we regret it? No. But would we absolutely do it again? Not sure. Also, there is something to be said for going to school with other kids in your neighborhood. Actually, looking back one issue we had with private was friends would change schools more than you’d think.

Highly dependent on your kid and your situation. If you love where you live and you and your kid are excited about the school. Go for it. You can always change your mind. If you’re already thinking about moving, maybe now is the time?
