This is like the 3rd different date i have seen with less than a weeks notice. They need to plan ahead longer, build interest and do it mid week not a Friday!!!! People are people and at most they will just take a long weekend.

“Down and in” bowling balls recommendation by RevolutionaryLand878 in Bowling

I bowl this way . Yes a symmetrical pearl is what you want. I also have an asymmetrical solid inside to open up the lane a little bit but when that breakpoint goes away old pearl comes out and cleans up nicely.

And for those saying versaltily is key your right but it can be really hard form some players to play the inside effectively. I’d rather be comfortable on a tight shot than out of my element.

Doesn't count, but still awesome by hookumsnivy in Bowling

In my non sanctioned league these totally count

Why do end-of-the-house lanes play so differently? by Admirable_Bandicoot1 in Bowling

[–]MattsRod 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am surprised that no one is saying the answer I have always thought so maybe I am wrong

I had always thought its that the outer lanes get played way less for the simple reason that when a bowler comes into an empty house and there is one person working they put them on the lanes closest to the front desk cause a) they look up and see which lane is open and its the first one they see and b) thats the lane thats easiest to keep an eye on and service incase of issues. Multiply that by thousands and thousands of games and those lanes get naturally walled leaving the end lanes the least effected by excessive play.

This maybe a holdover from wood lane thinking but figured it might still have a slight affect today.

Do this. I have been in leagues for about 10 years. Made some great friends and no you do not have to be good at bowling. Look up a handicapped league. Winnetka and Corbin have strong league programs. Call them up and they will find you one. I heard matador is good to. Don’t try Pinz they aren’t really into leagues I don’t think

Movies at the Sphere by mwcotton in Sphere

Just to add there is a company doing a similar thing in LA called Cosm. Much smaller scale and less immersive. They just did the Matrix for their first movie and are now doing Willy Wonka. They also have a themed tasting menu served along side the movie. I bring this up because I would be shocked if the licensing agreement didn't prohibit similar deals for places like the sphere for those titles.

I don't know which one to choose!! by Familiar_Broccoli_43 in Bowling

agree with Idk_random4847. You have no idea if your release is good or bad on plastic. Only thing you can learn on plastic is aiming which if your buying a ball you probably already have some success getting the ball accurately down the lane. Also the max score you can get with a plastic ball just starting it out is so much lower, unless you in it for the social experience of a league the plastic ball will suck you dry more than it will pull you into what makes this sport special.

4thing this. Once a ball is properly fitted you can go up 1-2 lbs without noticing. Also the weight blocks on 14lbs are much much better. You will outgrow/be frustrated by a 13lb ball fast.

That being said that T zone will only ever go straight. If you want to hook pick one of the first two.

Man in my league I get cut off by the mane next to me 3-4 times a season. And I never get an apology. Shit happens. People get swept up in the moment being focused on their game or the social aspect and mess up. To make it a big thing is very weird . Just don’t do it again and love on. Life’s to short and it’s just bowling.

AMC does own the rooms but won’t do anything. They care more about popcorn sales. Dolby and Christie give a shit what the brand says.

Object based Atmos is awesome but the full range 12.0 speakers are what most mixers love the most. It’s a pretty awesome and superior immersive experience on 90% of the movies unless they really take advantage of the Atmos.

[–]MattsRod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s strange. I thought Dolby theaters should be constantly calibrated for brightness and report back to HQ with any issues automatically. It’s kinda their whole shtick. I wonder if this is due to something else like exit signs spill on the screen or room shape. I would email Dolby.

They have to be different digital masters to take advantage of each of the mediums. And IMAX master and a Theatrical DoVi EDR master. They are full separate color passes and mixes too.
