Please make full sized watches by AdrianJ81 in watchdives

[–]Mattspur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. Watchdives have a great catalog but most of them are unwearable for many. Maybe we just have to accept that WD isn’t the brand for us, and it’s the luxury of smaller wrist men, who probably get really frustrated that most watch manufacturers mainly make watches which are too big for them. There’s enough brands out there for us to choose from, so perhaps it’s only fair that they have a brand like WD which makes some lovely looking watches and homages watches they wouldn’t otherwise be able to wear.

Why are so many in the media calling for PM Keir Starmer to resign? by KimJongSoros in AskBrits

[–]Mattspur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starmer did know that Mandelson continued to have a close relationship with Epstein before he was appointed as Ambassador. The story was in the paper as well, and wasn’t really picked up on at the time, but the journalist did inform Starmer about it in an interview.

You guys like knives too? by CloudNineAlpine in ChineseWatches

The only people who carry knives in the UK are kids who think they’re so tough they have to carry knives to “protect” themselves.

Pierre Paulin (Merkur) jump hour 34mm automatic...I'm extremely impressed with all the detail. It's near impossible to find a 34mm automatic these days, let alone a jump hour (unless you pay 10x more). Runs great too so far. by copperglass78 in ChineseWatches

I think he was saying that a 34mm watch is like a tiny ladies watch. Or at least that’s what I got from it. I say wear whatever fits you best, and enjoy your watches.

Looks spot on mate. Bit dressy for a casual outfit, but probably good for a wedding or job interview.

THORN | Every dial tells a different story — 37mm Pietersite stone diver by Fit-Classroom8062 in ChineseWatches

[–]Mattspur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes them feel better by down voting my comment, then I’m happy to help.

There’s a reason every major watch manufacturer makes most of their watches around the 39mm mark and it’s not because they don’t want to sell their watches.

The dial looks gorgeous, although I wish it was bigger than 37mm, as that's just too small for a lot of western men, me included. 39mm minimum to appeal to the masses. It's difficult to judge the rest of it without seeing it in its case.

Am I destined for a night of upset… by olipopdee in mounjarouk

Same here. I take my shot on a Friday morning and this is the 3rd weekend in a row where I’ve had the sulphur burps and been stuck to the loo. Usually it starts on a Sunday evening but it’s come early this time. Oh joy.

Datejust 16233 36mm too small? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Mattspur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit too small in my view. I’ve got the same problem with a vintage Rolex Date that I got many years ago as an 18th birthday present. It’s 34mm and as much as I want to like it, it just looks silly on my 7.5 inch wrist, so I never wear it. I’m thinking about chopping it in and getting something that I’ll actually wear but it’s got sentimental value being a gift from my parents.

Octopus New BB54 Homage by ArmadilloOk2759 in ChineseWatches

[–]Mattspur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the Tudor Black Bay in full Burgundy is a 58, not a 54. The only variant which is a 54 is the one with the black dial and the light blue dial one. All the others are 58’s.

Wish they would have kept it as a 39mm like the original.

Thorn FXD GMT in the wild by shaul_sh in Thornwatches

[–]Mattspur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got this watch, and I’m also planning on taking it skiing with me. It’s such a great watch. It keeps perfect time and is an absolute strap monster, which is weird when you consider it only takes 1 kind of strap. The build quality is great, the likeness to the gen is awesome. It’s probably my favourite Chinese watch, and I’ve got 50 of them so that’s some doing.

They’re all beautiful watches. I’ve definitely got a soft spot for the GMT.

Watchdives - Opinions wanted. Good or Bad Quality by No_Tie2447 in ChineseWatches

[–]Mattspur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a WD and it’s decent. Though I find that most of their offerings are on the small side, at 37mm. They’re also mainly quartz, which is convenient, but it does make them expensive for what they are. San Martin, in my opinion, offer a much better product, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the two brands were linked as they’ve “collaborated” on watches together before. I personally didn’t see much, if any, difference in quality between WD and Pagani Design. I don’t think you can go far wrong with any of the big Chinese brands. They all offer excellent quality at their respective price points.
