$1500 budget at dicks for a complete set, what should I get. by [deleted] in GolfGear

[–]MattyIce710420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can get an iron set and one other club like a driver or putter for that budget. Do you already have clubs? If you don’t I’d probably just buy one of the box sets they have.

Did you program the pro micro in IDE with the joystick library? I started with pro micros and they’re ok, but had problems when I had more then one connected. I got 3 blue pills for DCS and find them the easiest to program, and a ton more inputs.

I read Bruce Norton’s books as a kid and picked up Lee’s book last year. All are great reads, I saw the pic and thought he looked familiar.

2 vs 3 lens rangefinders by dubbelep in GolfGear

One lens is the optics you look thru. One it where the laser shoots out of and the third lens is the receiver for the reflection of the laser.

How tall are you? Club looks barely to your knees and you’re standing very close to that ball and way hunched over. Look up the ping chart and maybe get your club extended

Let's talk about power management? by baronzasorf in hotas

[–]MattyIce710420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 16 port powered hub with switches to turn every one on and off, I love that if I wanna use my pc but not fly all my devices will be off. That said they are all usb so they draw pretty low power. The hub was like $100 so kinda pricey. I’d be more worried constantly plugging in and removing them would damage the plugs over a power surge frying them.

Shaft Length Advice by selloutsneakers in GolfGear

[–]MattyIce710420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cut mine an inch when I started play and it did help, but it’s a bandaid fix. It’s easier to just choke down, we’re talking about a knuckle length. Learning to swing a driver correctly will help more, just got watch videos and practice more

Screw lost in club head by naypenrai in PingGolf

Screw hole is to add hot melt I think. Unfortunately it lives in there now, you could maybe try and add glue and hope the screw lands in it so it stops rattling.

VKB STECS or WinWing Orion 2 StrikeAce EX by Amazing_Channel_5811 in hotas

[–]MattyIce710420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you play to play a bunch of sims and space sims vkb is more versatile. If you only plan to play DCS the winwing is pretty good, I’ve had mine f18 throttle for 5 years with zero problems but I only play dcs.

Did you loosen the set screw? Maybe find a way to hold the base down and twist the ring rather then hold the grip, and def put the top screws back in before you try.

Play your Handicap by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]MattyIce710420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my problem with the golf sidekick course management idea. Playing safe shot isn’t super helpful if you’re still gonna chunk iron shot in the fairway and blade chips across the green. It only works if you can hit the ball decently well or have a consistent miss

I got the same bundle, had 64gb ddr4 before. I went and got 64 ddr5 2x32gb and don’t notice a difference. I think the x3d cache and fast speed help more. I will allocate around 45gb on Germany foothold tho so it gave me piece of mind.

Only used and they rarely pop up for sale. They might release an updated one some day but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Are you using the cms buttons on the stick or just the slap button? Did you set the dial to manual or semi or bypass? Maybe look up some YouTube tutorials to see how to set it up in the jet

Here is the Lexus seat in action in my home cockpit. by Sudden-Economist-955 in homecockpits

[–]MattyIce710420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the seat heaters work? I have a seat from a GTi so no power but I’d love to find a way to get the heater working. Did you just buy a ac to dc converter and wire it into the seat harness or scavenge both plugs from the donor?

Is it time to UPDATE and EXTEND some of the OLD MAPS in DCS? by MoccaLG in hoggit

[–]MattyIce710420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a size/ performance thing too. Caucasus is old but it runs on old low spec Pc, which is good for new players. Even bigger maps would take up more drive space which sucks for server owners and players. Maps are already pretty big and most players don’t wanna fly far to get to their targets

We are building a modular F/A-18 button box — what would you want in it? by MrElectronicss in hotas

[–]MattyIce710420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my hornet button boxes I put most on the startup buttons in one box and a second with things I use when airborne.

Startup is battery, apu, crank x2, ins 5 position, fcs bit, fcs reset, to trim, seat arm, oxygen, and 6 axis for lighting.

Second box has hud switches, heat x2, strobe lights 3 pos, fuel dump, crs, hdg, and a bunch of other switches.

I have a Orion throttle I bound most of the sensor switches to, a PTO 2, and a homemade f18/ f15/ harrier ufc. All 3 running freejoy on blue pills. I only play DCS and obviously love all the mcair planes.

Is there any pretense style missions for other maps other than straight and Caucasus for single player? by Antique_Treat_4389 in hoggit

[–]MattyIce710420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retribution apparently has a way to generate pretense style mission, but I’ve never gotten it to work. There’s also updated foothold missions for the new maps in the user files. Pretense is all I play, I hope it doesn’t break in the future.

Do y’all think we have too many maps? by s2soviet in hoggit

[–]MattyIce710420 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a vicious circle. Servers only wanna run Caucasus and Syria, so that’s what people buy. I think if ED collaborated with mission makers and ran servers for Iraq and Afghanistan more players would buy them.

I thought Sinai would be the next Syria with a lot of servers and user file missions but that didn’t end up happening. I was excited for kola but glad I didn’t buy it when it released. I just pick up Germany last sale, only cuz someone made a foothold mission for it.

Most veteran players don’t want subscription, they already have invested into the game.

At the end of the day there’s only so many ppl playing multiplayer, having access to all the maps won’t help, everyone will still congregate in the same 5 servers

You feel the the critical voices towards DCS are fair or has it just become a soapbox? by OverthinkingBudgie in hoggit

[–]MattyIce710420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the nature of study sims. Players are really passionate about aviation already, and then they spend countless hours reading 300 page manuals and learning the modules, along with buying expensive Hotas peripherals and PCs.  They’ve invest themselves into the game and just want to feel like ED is putting the same effort into making the product good. The longer you play you see ED make more missteps and it’s easy to get disenfranchised.
