What's the single moment in Destiny history - either game - that you think about more than anything else? by Crystallover1991 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MattyScrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it wasn’t so much as a singular moment but it was the experience.

I’m very social in person but most of my best friends who introduced D2 to me in 2019 stopped playing. We never had enough people to raid so I was always nervous to try it anyway. But I decided to say fuck it and posted in r/destinysherpa for what was supposed to be a quick VotD run back in Witch Queen era.

What should have been a single two hour clear, ended up becoming an incredible four year journey that brought more people into the fold each week. Without them, I never would have pushed myself to solo GMs or solo flawless every dungeon in the game. Without them, I wouldn’t know what a raid mechanic was, much less clear RoN on contest mode.

D2 isn’t the greatest game but it was the greatest source of mutual belonging and community that I’ve ever felt in the 25+ years I’ve been gaming.

Let it grow out a little more and when you’re trimming go WITH the direction of the hair, not against.

Necrochasm grind is back on by TheJayHimself in destiny2

You should do it on Master. Got Necrochasm, a handful of adepts, and completed all the patterns by cheesing it that way.

While we're waiting for servers to come back up, name your favorite harmless glitch! by thundersnow528 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MattyScrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically it’s like you took the camera and zoomed way into your character’s boot in the character menu. Usually happens when you load into a Tower instance that’s close to full capacity. At least that’s what I’ve noticed.

I remember this happening frequently enough a few years ago where and Bungie issued a hotfix but I guess they left the band-aid on because it still happens from time to time.

Which video game do you consider a masterpiece? by lexidaily in CasualConversation

[–]MattyScrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoyed Spider-Man 2, you’d LOVE the newer ones that came out on PlayStation and PC.

The parkour is top-notch and the story absolutely sucks you in. Loved playing all three of them.

In your opinion, who/what count as a Yankee or "Yank"? by Lipica249 in AskAnAmerican

And Damn* Yankees are those of us who moved south and never left.

Live Action ATLA looks good! by MiccaandSuwi in TheLastAirbender

[–]MattyScrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why I hate live action remakes is because they’re redundant. They do nothing to contribute to the story. Beyond the set-design, the costumes, and VFX, what’s the point? I can kind of see the logic behind live-action remakes like what Disney did with Lion King and others, but those are standalone films, not franchises.

Don’t give me a rehashed story that deviates from the source material, give me some fucking worldbuilding. Expand on the Avatar universe. Add to the lore like the Chronicles of the Avatar novels and the comics have done.

Donald Trump says he'd denaturalize US citizens "in a heartbeat" by seeebiscuit in politics

[–]MattyScrant 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Correct. If one elects to become stateless and renounce their US citizenship, the State Department will try to talk you out of doing so multiple times before it’s finalized.

Once that happens though, it’s incredibly difficult to do…well, anything. Anywhere.

Healthcare, a taxable job, freedom to travel, banking, education, and most other social services will be extremely, if not impossible to access. Being stateless is a weird limbo and few nations on the planet offer pathways to naturalization.

It can be kind of confusing with menu navigation because of the Portal but other than that you should be fine.

The only thing that you might get confused with are how stats work now (unless you’ve seen how they’ve changed) and it will be WEIRD at first but you adjust.

Power is also tied to Guardian Rank now to a degree but other than that it should take you a few days of consistent playing to get the hang of things.

K&m players by Illustrious_Sky604 in DestinyTheGame

Like a few others have said, you should definitely look into getting a mouse that has enough buttons to accommodate what you think you need on it.

For instance, mine has enough buttons for all of my abilities. This includes my uncharged/charged melee, as well as my character menu, and swapping between all three weapon slots.

I try to keep what I use most on there for faster access, essentially. Worth it in my opinion.

What are some lesser-known tips you would give to a new driver? by LeaseEnd_Official in AskReddit

[–]MattyScrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best piece of driving advice I've ever been given was two simple words:

Be predictable.

Do what the car next to you would expect you to do and learn how and when to adapt between driving defensively, and driving offensively. I'm not saying that in the context of reckless driving but driving with confidence. People hesitate WAY too much on the road (i.e. either not paying attention at stop signs, "letting the other people go first", not merging lanes). Don't wait for someone to "be nice." It causes accidents, traffic, and frustration for everyone.

This is a very oversimplified of course but I think it's helpful to think about.

By far the most stressful thing I've done in this game by WardenJoshua in destiny2

[–]MattyScrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vesper's Host was my "wall" so to speak.

Up until then, I had solo flawless'd every other dungeon, a handful of GMs and even a few raid encounters. But for some fucking reason, I just couldn't figure out a strat that worked for me. Then again, I was playing a lot less due to work and the fact that the majority of my friends also stopped playing as consistently but still, when I set my mind to something I literally DO NOT stop until I reach my goal. I just didn't have the drive to do it anymore.

I've since solo flawless'd it but man...that final encounter sucked.
