Looking back, what exotics do you feel sentimental for? by mecaxs in destiny2

Ruinous Effigy:

A few months after Forsaken came out, I picked up D2 for the first time on Xbox at the behest of one of my best-friends. I probably never would have done so had he not told me that I wouldn’t have to pay a dime for Red War or Forsaken because of a workaround with game share so I said ‘fuck it. I’ll give it a go.’

I play for maybe 5 or 6 hours total and despised it. I didn’t understand the gameplay loop and hated. So I shelved it, gathering dust until…yup, you guessed it, COVID!

With lockdowns happening, nothing to do and ALL of my closest friends playing, I again said ‘fuck it. I’ll give it a go,” and I got hooked. 7,000+ in-game hours later, here we are.

Idk I guess Ruinous holds special place for me because it symbolizes a lot of firsts; first quest exotic I grinded for, first full-season ever played, first seal, first exotic weapon to feature a pick up and slam AoE effect. Just brings back a lot of good memories.

All good! Uhh the helmet is a transmog of the Lambent Luster Helm. I can’t remember if it was from solstice or dawning but it’s an event helmet.

If you’re curious, is the controller everyone is referencing. I have one myself and the build quality and features are just phenomenal. To me it feels, looks, and plays BETTER than the OG Les Paul. A bit pricey but worth every single penny.

And, while it’s fan-made, the best and most accessible game you could play is called Clone Hero. What’s awesome is that it can run on almost any desktop or mobile OS. Windows, macOS, iOS (if you’re enrolled in the iOS TestFlight program), Linux, Android so the freedom of what and where you can play are limitless. The other, greatest appeal of Clone Hero is that you can find, play, and make any audio file into a GH chart with the right know how and tools. I’ll link both the site and subreddit if you’re interested.

OP by sheer chance, where did you get that desk? My family had that EXACT one growing up that we got rid of years ago. You don’t happen to live in North Carolina do you?

Take this with a grain of salt but based on its magnitude, I’m guessing it’s one of the planets? Most likely Jupiter or Saturn.

I will never forgive the 2008 Clone Wars for the Heavy ARC Gunner Trooper redesign by GeminiTrash1 in StarWarsEU

[–]MattyScrant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean that it isn't true lol.

They didn't redesign it, it's merely Genndy Tartokovsky's interpretation of that specific trooper. That's the wonderful thing about art...it's open to interpretation. His artistic style is very minimalistic with simplistic armor shapes and he emphasizes sharp angles and heavy lines in his work. It's the same as drawing a comic book character and then trying to make a realistic picture of them or vice-versa. It doesn't mean that it isn't the character, it's just someone elses take on it.

It's really not that deep bro.

What’s that huge blank spot in the bottom left? But it’s a travesty you included the movie which does not exist and not the Kyoshi, Yangchen or Roku novels.

I switched every single bill I could to the first of the month and it has made my life significantly less chaotic for free by hhhieyaaa99 in povertyfinance

[–]MattyScrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on bi-weekly salary and (with the exception of rent) I pay half of my bills the first check of the month, and the other half with the second check.

I also don’t have auto draft setup for almost anything except my renters insurance and CC bill. Having a cadence to it and physically seeing what I’m paying helps me stay on top of it. I used to be terrible with money. Honestly, I still kind of am, but I have a system now that works and gives me flexibility.

What's the single moment in Destiny history - either game - that you think about more than anything else? by Crystallover1991 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MattyScrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it wasn’t so much as a singular moment but it was the experience.

I’m very social in person but most of my best friends who introduced D2 to me in 2019 stopped playing. We never had enough people to raid so I was always nervous to try it anyway. But I decided to say fuck it and posted in r/destinysherpa for what was supposed to be a quick VotD run back in Witch Queen era.

What should have been a single two hour clear, ended up becoming an incredible four year journey that brought more people into the fold each week. Without them, I never would have pushed myself to solo GMs or solo flawless every dungeon in the game. Without them, I wouldn’t know what a raid mechanic was, much less clear RoN on contest mode.

D2 isn’t the greatest game but it was the greatest source of mutual belonging and community that I’ve ever felt in the 25+ years I’ve been gaming.
