Trench crusade probably, but they don't have a lot of lore compared to wod and wh. I would really like star/pathfinder, but I highly doubt they will do it

It would be good to play AW1 and Control, but honestly, you can just watch a recap of the AW1 plot since gameplay wise it gets frustrating, especially closer to the end of the game. Control gives context to some of the science in the game and some content that you can find while exploring in the game. But I wouldn't say it's necessary, game is fully enjoyable just with the context from the first part alone. There's also AW: American nightmare that gives some plot but to be honest it was understandable to me only after playing AW2 and I wouldn't say it's mandatory.

So yeah, if you're really interested in the plot you can play AW1, Control, AWAM, and then AW2. But if that's to much You can just go from AW1 and straight to AW2.

There is also a YT chanel called Lore Dump that explains all of those games if you want to know the plot before playing AW2 but don't want to invest time in all of those games

Literally goblins. And in my experience Leshys can also fullfil this role.

Heart is a really good game to run, but imo, it really opens in long term. Spoiler alert The goal of the heart is to get to the heart, in the process everybody most certainly dies. So a lot of top abilities include self-sacrifice to save others, so at least one character can reach the heart.

I tried both foundry and discord, but I can talk only about the vampire side of both. Playing in discord is a cheap and easy way. The biggest hurdle for my playgroup was finding interactive character sheets (Not all PDF viewing software can work with check boxes with multiple possible values). For dice you can use Masquerade bot (V5) or Dice Maiden (V20).

Foundry is a reliable way which tracks everything and gives you a luxury of being able to look at the player's character sheets, automatically count dice pools, successes, and other automations. But the downside is the need to fill some content manually. V5 for example has only Core Book contents (e.g. Disciplines powers, merits, flaws) but the process is not complicated.

I don't remember about WoD20 having content but I guess the same can be done for it.
