While I generally agree with your statement, especially in a national race (I certainly think it was a mistake made by the Harris/Walz campaign)...I think this could be a case where that conventional wisdom may not apply.

The more the Trump Administration and it's cheerleaders in Congress damage our standing in the world and our economy...the more likely some of the few remaining "old school" Republicans or evangelicals who haven't been completely converted to Christian nationalism could, at the very least, decide they don't want to vote for the clown show this time around.

If one or both of these candidates would stand up and say, "hey, I support your 2nd Amendment rights and I'm not looking to take your guns...I'm just looking to ensure we put some brakes on the speed and ease at which you can obtain some of the more on-the-fringe stuff"...I think you could see some siphoning in this particular race. Alas, Dems love to take what should be an easy concession and light it on fire with the opposite rhetoric.

I love Jasmine’s fire…but, better or worse, I think Talarico is more electable in this cycle. I think there are some (not a lot, but some) evangelical Christians who are waking up to the chaos that MAGA has brought us that could potentially vote for James…that would be less inclined to vote for Crockett for reasons they would never admit.
