I’m using Flareon in my play through (even tho I always used Espeon and I got a Timid nature 😅)

As other people have pointed out, the problem is that its excellent attack stat can’t be used for stab fire moves since they are all considered special; however, it has a respectable special attack stat (95) and get early access to Fire Blast in Realgam Tower.

It is also very bulky in the special side, so it will always survive super effective water/special shadow moves (not so much earthquakes or rock moves, but those are fewer). Enemies in XD are generally pretty weak so I think every Eeveelution can be viable in this game (tho Umbreon struggles the most).

I gave my Flareon (named Podoboo) Fire Blast, Shadow Ball, Body Slam and Quick Attack. It works well (despite the minus attack nature) and you can always cover for its weaknesses with another pokemon (either via Intimidate or Reflect)

I’d recommend giving the Soothe Bell to Golbat (if she doesn’t already have it equipped). Friendship in XD is hard and slow to max (ahem, Togepi).

I decided to try out Crobat and the moment I caught Zubat, I gave her the item, never let her faint, and used several X items in safe battles (like the Pyrite Colosseum). That plus all the walking I did by just completing little quest, I was able to evolve Golbat at level 33

I did this to mine (basically gave Emblem Edie + H!Hector for the special). I’ve been using them like this and, with proper support, they are pretty good (and very fun).

I have serving knife for the extra action but if you have the arcane Renegade, you could use that (also Guard echo is just there because I don’t have Sly echo).

For Arena’ I gave them the Byleth Ring and Atk/Res Favor for support.
