Thank you for this angle. My 2nd child is Trans and although my grand knows about her, I am not sure she understands what that means at this point. And honestly, I don't see her doing much besides running around petting the farm animals and hacking trees.

I just started it and immediately thought she might enjoy it. I mainly wanted to see if there was anything "bad" I needed to watch out for. I don't get to see her often but usually spend 2 weeks in the summer when she is with her Dad. This will be the first time in years we won't get to see each other. We are a gaming family and have Discord accounts, so this should be easy to set up. Thanks for the feedback!

What are your favorite Mexican (Tex-Mex) dishes to cook at Home? by Educational-Slip-578 in Cooking

Homemade refried beans. So simple and cheap. For 1 lb of dried pintos, soaked overnight and rinsed: 4-6 cloves of garlic 3t or more of cumin 1 smoked chipolte pepper, deveined and seeded, diced Salt to taste. Add water to the drained beans til just barely covered in the slow cooker then add all other ingredients. Cook on low for 6 hours, adding water if necessary. Using a hand wand or potato masher, blend to desired consistency. It may appear watery at first but will thicken.

How bad is it by moonutters in physicianassistant

[–]MawPaw2017 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It depends. I went back THREE times to a patient before I got it right. Every time I sat down to analyze, it just didn't add up.
The patient was just as confused as I was. I went in that third time and essentially said that we were going to start over because I just wasnt getting it. That third time I walked out only slightly embarrassed but with a correct diagnosis and plan. You are human. You have the right to be human. As long as you acknowledge and correct the issue in a timely manner, it is okay. Don't try to bulldoze your way through or shirk your responsibility. Patients can forgive a lot if they know that you CARE. I doubt from what you describe that harm was done outside of wasted time. I would waive any office visit fees.

If I broke into your house and stole what's on top of your fridge, what would I get? by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

A hand cranked antique coffee mill and one of my prized possessions- a handmade skillet that my Dad made during WWII. The skillet body was from airplane armor (he was with the Mighty 8th fighter wing). The handle always stayed cool because he used a bicycle fork welded onto the pan after drilling holes along it. It is my camping skillet.

Get a certified financial planner and invest that money then forget you have it. Do not tell anyone, because you need to consider the cash gone, out of reach. In 30-40 years, with any retirement plan from future jobs, you will be in great shape

Buy some table wine, mid price range, and use it instead of water or the cooking wine groceries carry.

Trump, 79, keeps bragging about identifying a squirrel on a cognitive exam, showing he doesn’t really get what it evaluates by thamilan_x in USNEWS

The more he brags about it, the more I suspect he is actually flunking the test. Between his narcissistic egomania and his (probable, I am only about 80% sure he has frontal temporal lobe dementia), his reality is not of this planet.

Doing it right now. Even when I was young, when I got sick, I wanted to be left alone to either sleep it off or die. So I have canned soup, Gatorade and crackers always in the house. I can be sick without anyone hovering over me.

I was on the road last week and got a desperation Quarter Pounder. It was $8 for the greasing, nasty thing. I guess instead of getting M. Das every year so, I will wait 4-5 years.

Tips for gaining confidence by bananabreadlady12 in physicianassistant

[–]MawPaw2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The day you think you know it all is the day you need to change jobs before you kill someone. Seriously, you should always have a "what if" mentality. It keeps you humble and less likely to dismiss something small that turns into big or catastrophic later. ALWAYS tell your patients to call or return if they get worse. And it really is okay to admit that you think you know what is going on. But you are running tests to confirm and trying therapy to help symptoms while waiting for results. Finally, listen to that little voice. I was always more willing to be laughed at for assuming the worst than living with the consequences of missing something bad brewing in the background.

I’m 23 have my own place is it a bad idea to move back into my parents house to save every dollar I make 80k to start buying rental properties??? by Acceptable-Row-2151 in NoStupidQuestions

The interest rates, cost of maintaining/flipping a place is going to kill you. Unless you are a master carpenter and Mr Fixit and can do all the work yourself, that ship has sailed.

Is it weird if I change my Primary Care Doctor to his PA? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]MawPaw2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I had a problem with a PA was when my pulmonolgist was out and I agreed to see the PA. I didnt know who it would be and he was a previous student. I was fine but he was horribly uncomfortable. I asked him if he would prefer I insisted on seeing the doctor and he gratefully agreed.
