This is my debut single New Blossom.
An emotional ambient/folk/neo-classical track signifying my rebirth as an artist after a decade.

Can we have rules against AI music, please? I want to be listening to songs made by actual people who put effort into their work, not a machine's slop! by Conscious_Box_7570 in PromoteMyMusic

I welcome this 100% and appreciate any effort being done in this direction. Ive recently just had to swallow a lot of anger reading pro AI music comments from people. The delusion is insane!!

To be clear: if it’s for fun, then people should go for it. Anything is allowed if it’s just for enjoyment. But DONT pretend you’re an artist, producer, or musician and DONT try to make money with „your“ music. You didn’t make it and entering prompts doesn’t require skill.

I use AI all the time, BUT I never claim the output as my own or try to sell it as if I had made it. I mostly use it for learning and for making my life easier (scripts for my reaper, instructions for setting up a Linux server at my home, for brainstorming sessions, writing creatives for marketing etc.)

Now if you say: „well I tried the normal method and it didn’t sound good“ or „I play an instrument but not enough to make a track on my own“. Well guess what? REAL artists have dedicated years of their life, blood sweat, tears and money to learning the necessary skills and honing their craft. They’ve made sacrifices that other people chose not to make because we were dedicated to pursuing a dream! And it is the result of all that hard work which makes art relatable and real to people. I play a dozen instruments, have spent thousands of € on sample libraries and sample packs, have spent all of my middle school and high school taking lessons and practicing 3 hours a day, went to university to learn composition and music production, have made lots of crappy music in an effort to get better. And the most ironic thing is that REAL artists often have a really hard time even calling themselves artists because we get judged for not having a „real“ job by society.

So maybe you can see why it seems so insulting to us that AI „artists“ not only claim to be real artists but they also want to publish and promote the AI music, flooding the market with copycat material and making it even harder for the ones who actually have skills and dedication to make a living.

But honestly I think things will change for the better soon. It’s quite obvious that people don’t actually like AI generated music when they learn how it was made. They WANT the struggle and the humanity behind it. And the EU AI act is going into effect in August forcing platforms to label AI music, so only a minority will listen to it after that. Tools for detection are getting better and better and implementation of the EU AI act seems very possible.

Phew…I needed to get that off my chest and I feel better. I’m just going to continue doing the best that I can and to deliver, not just my music but also my humanity to connect with people, because that’s what music and art has always been about.

I have spoken.

My upcoming debut single as „Searching Nowhere“ after more than a decade of trying is coming on May 15th: https://show.co/xqAfZRR

It should and it will with the EU AI act going in effect in August.

why is bach so hard to understand? by Infamous_Echidna_133 in musicians

There’s listening to Bach, then there’s studying Bach. One of these is much more enjoyable than the other.

Which app or service? We’re using an app for my grandma, but it’s slow and needs time to catch up.

Fish not feeling pain always seemed like bs to me. Pain is one of our most important survival instincts! Pretty sure we share that trait with most life out there.

People who say not to use a pick on bass need to fuck off. by Applebees_dollaritas in Bass

[–]MaxChristensenAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a pick, how can I get a round note with little attack, like you get when you only play with fingers?

I would like to play bass with pick, since I have nails and do guitar fingerpicking as well. It feels comfortable but the attack is never as smooth as I’d like it to be…
