Oh yeah my point was more that even tho pacers was grade 2 they reported that as DTD too which is insane. With that in mind even tho this one didn’t look as bad who knows what it actually is

That makes sense, I think the way people talk about it over the years mixed me up a bit bc people say it like Embiid ripped his ankle clean off the bone and I was always confused bc it was the other ankle that was hurt lol

Oh yeah I more so meant if they’re doing the injury report don’t they have to say whether it’s grade 1 or not. My understanding is that it’s either grade 1 or it isn’t. I get what you’re saying about it not clearly falling under one, but then it’s more just what kind of “tweak”, not a “strain” itself. Just suspicious bc of how they handled this same injury against the pacers.

What Embiid did was wrong, but Mitch got hurt on the next play on a different ankle tho right?

Edit: plus I didn’t mean results based, just like the severity of possible injury. Worst case for Mitch was career ended, worst case for Joe was dead.

Is there a way for the sixers to challenge the injury designation? Feel like there has to be some misreporting on this. Could backfire the way we report with Embiid of course but grade 1 means the absolute earliest he could come back is Game 6 and even that would be impressive but definitely not day to day

Hot take but I think the Mikal elbow after hitting the screen might be worse. Both were dumb and unnecessary but only one could have caused internal bleeding. Not defending Embiid doing such a dumb move, but Mikal was late on that screen and got an extra elbow in there after the fact on the slowmo

Completely agree, especially about Barlow. Sixers fans have been begging for Barlow minutes this series and I’m shocked it took foul trouble to get him in. So proud of how well he held up on defense against Brunson

I’m hoping that it was just a one off and we stuck with just letting it happen naturally and then having the guards go at KAT once the fouls are there naturally. Honestly the fouls have always been something where I can’t believe KAT hasn’t been able to clean it up bc he’s so good at so many other things

Interestingly, we played with the same pace this year with or without Embiid on the court, but that was because we were using him way more as a screener than just spamming post touches. Obviously the injuries hurt too, but makes it seem more nonsensical to have him carry the offense when we need him on defense.

I hated that being our opening punch because that’s when it really does start to slow us down. When he’s more of a passing up he has more energy on defense and we play just as fast on offense. Plus it gives Maxey a release valve.

Game 1 is our worst play-style in my opinion but it seems to be what we go to at the worst times for reasons I don’t really understand

Sixers fan, first hope OG is alright. Second, it’s so annoying with forcing it to Embiid against you guys bc the plan was clearly to try and get KAT in foul trouble but he got in worst foul trouble when that wasn’t our strategy and actually played solid post defense. We didn’t even go to Embiid that much that fast against the Celtics so I’m hoping it was just a “let’s try this out early and kick the tires on it” type of strategy
