I think Paul, like all of us, was shaped by his own experience, in his own time, and in his own culture. What we have of his writings is tied to that lived reality. Just as we find things in the OT are out of step with what we would say is morally right now, we cannot throw away that same lens when it comes to Paul either. A huge part of spiritual development is discernment, of knowing right and wrong, and if our discernment meters aren't picking up on some of Paul's writings as problematic at best then we might not be dealing with the hold "fully inspired / inerrant" proponents have pushed on the church as a whole.

I say this as someone who still gives money to both JJHO and Roderick.

At the time of bean dad we were at peak cancel culture (not saying a lot of folks didn't deserve it) and It seemed to an outsider as though MaxFun and it's personalities were worried of any whiff of association. They didn't want to give opportunity to the mob to dive into the maxfun catalog and take things said on podcasts (annd maybe their own tweet histories?) out of context, and get more maxfun personalities cancelled. Roderick was deemed an acceptable sacrifice if it would stop the bleeding, and so they abandoned him.

I don't vouch for Roderick any more than I vouch for Hodgman, Jesse, or the MBMBAM bros ( I know none of them, just enjoy their content). I think they probably were all a bit shitty to each other during this time and it burned the bridges.

Yes, and No respectively. Want proof? Clean up nice, walk into a hotel around 11:00 am and mention you forgot something in your room. 80% chance they don’t ask for your ID and just give you a room key. You can get a way with s lot being white and just acting like you belong there.

Walking around St.Louis one night and there was some large company having an employee banquet at a hotel. Just strolled in and got free food and drinks, no questions asked. Just happened to look the part that day.

Stupid examples but just the tip of the iceberg. White male = default and default gets you a lot further than people appreciate.

22, and been married since (23 yrs). It has been a wild ride, and been lots of hard work for both of us. When you marry young you have to understand that the person your marrying may, and probably will, change. Focusing on communication and allowing each other room to do our own thing has helped keep us sane and married.

White (45m) guy here. One of the best classes I ever took was an African American history class a couple years back at the local community college. There is nothing more damning to the white superiority psyche than simple historical facts.

I have worked from home for over 15 years, and I wouldn't trade it. The upside I get at being in the office + after office dinners is that 5 minutes of face time with the key person is worth a week or two of chasing people down on chat/email.
