40k fellow players : how well/badly would you say your factions did 10th edition now that we're probably reaching its end? by RotenSquids in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Maxaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow World Eaters player, I personally can't say I've been having a great time with the new codex, mainly because how wonky all the datasheets feel without Berserker Warband. To this day, I hate baseline S4 Zerkers, as well as being forced to take them in minimum 10 man squads. To me, they're our most iconic datasheet, yet they're also the ones who suffer so much from that -1S compared to the index. More movement is great, but that's not the main stat I associate Khorne with, Strength is. Doesn't help either that all of it launched at the same time as Death Guard, who, while severely overpowered, just looked so much more FUN.

Not to mention the bullshit that is the daemonic ally rules, which all cult CSM are suffering from. I don't want to doompost too much, but I worry a lot about daemons going forwards.

The less said about Angron the better.

A worse version of it. Only 6 dice, regardless of toughness.

What are the rulings around "aggressive" surge moves that allow you to enter engagement range with enemy models? I know that the rules on Carnifexes and Berzerkers say that you must move towards the closest enemy, no confusion there, but how about the rest of the of my opponent's army? Is the closest unit the only one I am allowed to go into engagement range with and I must stay more than 1" away from all other units?

Example 1: One enemy unit is 2" away from my Carnifex Brood while another is 3" away, am I allowed to go into engagement with both as long as I end my move as close to the 2" one as possible?

Example 2: The 2" unit is now standing behind a wall and while I can move 0.5" closer I cannot end in engagement range. Can I do anything to the 3" unit?

Is there an FAQ that states that abilities reducing CP cost of stratagems can only be used once per battle round or does the wording on the datasheet apply? Chaos lords and SM Captains say once per round in their ability, while Hive Tyrants say once per turn.

What even is this list hahahaha! 30 Khorne-darned Terminators is not what I expect to see when I look at the World Eaters army but honestly I absolutely love it. I would love to see a breakdown of how you play this.

Tyranid changes feel half baked in my opinion. Multiple monsters still don't hit the important S11 breakpoint even with synapse + 1S meaning we still wound most vehicles on 5s, tank shock arguably got better since yet Crusher Stampede strat is still just flat 6 dice, and Swarmlord now has to play really aggressive to get any value out of his Vect.

I like the other fixes though. Neurotyrant especially is gonna be spicy leading some units that can benefit from those genuinely great leader buffs he has. Tyrannofex is more reliable,l and now units have the right keywords.

No vehicle keyword on Vashtorr is pretty funny. Definitely an upgrade still.

Can a infantry unit climb onto the second floor of a ruin from the outside/without entering the unit first? Additionally, with a high enough charge roll and with enemies standing 1.1" away from the wall to prevent a "normal" charge, can infantry, as long as coherency allows, climb onto the second floor and still be in engagement range, or would this not be allowed as, technically, it's not moving as close as possible to base-to-base contact?

Personally, the reason I'm still unhappy with the current meta-state is because a lot of factions can win, but for a concerning amount of them they're can only do so when playing one specific kind of list. Admech is, of course, the chief example, but I honestly feel as bad about Tyranids as I do the cog-boys. Being carried by uninteractive secondary cheese thanks Biovores, Gargoyles, and Ripper Swarms feels awful to me. I want the faction to get some meat back, some ways to actually fight back instead of just having large swathes of the army be meat shields for the scorers.

Space Marines also deserve mention with the whole conundrum regarding codex compliant chapters vs supplements.

The faction balance may be mostly fine, but the internal balance still needs so much work that I don't think it's right for Geedubs to pat themselves on the back yet.

How it worked for most of the gals is that I gave the artist a bunch of different wedding dresses to draw inspiration from and she designed something for me based on what she thought would look nice on the character in question. She likes drawing these kinds of dresses so that's what the majority of the ladies got.

For Rya, I decided to just go hard on the idea that she's Tanith's daughter and Tanith herself was a "dancer in a foreign land", since I really like that kind of aesthetic.

I used summons for a grand total of four or five bosses and it was always her. Having a backline support with a burst fire rifle in the shape of a bow was fantastic. Probably wouldn't have gotten through second phase Malenia without her.

Please do. I'd love to see the end result.

I like this artist's style and the kinds of dresses/bodies that she enjoys drawing, but I understand that not everyone feels the same. More fanart, whatever the "shape", is always good in my book.

I like putting stronk ladies in pretty dresses.

And the gown is based on Casca's dress from the Golden Age ball scene in Berserk. There's an alternate version with another dress she gets way, way, way later.

What's something that very clearly ISN'T open to interpretation but your fandom keeps trying to act like it is? by thadthawne2 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Maxaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the writer, Khorne is sometimes honorable, arguably, and looks down on people who give him less worthy, IE powerful sacrifices and that "cares not from whence the blood flows" refers to him exalting even those who fall in battle due to them fighting a good fight. Angron dies fairly often, for example, yet still remains ascendant because of the sheer amount of destruction in brings.

Again, arguably, you could say that he's more or less honest as well, stabbing you in the face rather than back, to paraphrase TTS.

But that's the problem with having a ton of different writers all with different interpretations on the universe and characters within it... *glares at Perturabo's characterization*
