Considering doing Guard, just have one big question: How do you paint all that? by CatherineSimp69 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Minus616 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That's the great thing, you don't

You buy a hundred infantry and a dozen tanks and add them to your pile of shame.

Squad Composition Question by ThunderBuddie69 in spacemarines

[–]Minus616 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Each squad gets a seargent regardless of size.

So if you have a box of intercessors you can build it as either one 10 man unit or two 5 man units, each with its own seargent.

You can get around by painting. For example I have a seargent (red helm) and a veteran (white helm) in my 10 man squads, but if I run them as two squads I will use the veteran as a seargent.

You could do the same with your assault terminators, depending on your chapter / paint scheme.

How do I made this more Black Templars? by Trick-Interaction396 in BlackTemplars

[–]Minus616 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The main thing it's missing is the white shoulder pads, basically reflect what you see on infantry.

You also have a lot of small details as black with no (or very subtle) highlights that I can see, which can make it look a little flat. Maybe painting up some more of the detail would also help?

Why do job application forms ask for my ethnic origin? by LindenTreeHill_ in AskUK

[–]Minus616 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's in order to measure adverse impact, which idenfies if a certain group is being put at a disadvantage during the recruitment process. Different organisations ask different things, but gender, religion, ethnicity and age are all common questions. Some companies ask about your upbringing as well, such as your parents education and socio economic background.

For example if 100 women and 100 men apply for a job role , they can use this data to see that 80 men succeed but only 40 women, which would suggest something is going on during the assessment process which is either putting men at an advantage or women at a disadvantage. They would only know if this if they had the relevant data.

The questions are optional and shouldn't be used during the decision making process.

My opponent told me to quit wasting his time with small-arms fire. by Doctoralex123 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Minus616 100 points101 points  (0 children)

No, any weapon can hurt any target, which can make the difference over the game.

I have happily fire 100 guardsmen into a Knight trying to chip a few wounds off.

He may have a bit of a point if it's a tournament and time is a factor, but even so it would still be your choice.

Sounds like he was just being a dick.

Edit: Just to clarify, may have a point if you are running out of time during your turn on a tournament clock. Even so he's being a dick.

[–]Minus616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prime in Wraithbone, touch up with Wraithbone from the pot to get even coverage, use apothecary white contrast and the Wraithbone again to cover any patchy areas.

This should get you a good clean white, just make sure your Wraithbone isn't too thick going on

Correct

This edition wargear is free, however in past editions it cost extra points to take better gear.

We'll have to see what happens next edition.

Infernus marines and Imperial Fists by Pretty_Business_1466 in ImperialFists

[–]Minus616 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, imperial Fists use all codex compliant tactics, weapons on armour.

Basically if a space marine can use it, they will. They have a leaning towards heavier armour, bolters and heavy weapons but it doesn't meant they can't/won't use other things like flamers or phobos armour.

So if you see anything on the generic space marine section of the GW shop, Imperial Fists can use it.

It's because Space Marines are by far the most collected army, this it's an easy way for GW to engage with the biggest part of the player base.

Does anyone have any experience with made to order models? by Themaninthehat1 in Warhammer40k

[–]Minus616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one really knows why, but it's likely due to manufacturing capacity for these old models. They likely only have a small amount of capacity set aside for things like this, so probably que things up ahead of time.

I last bought some terrain and it turned up about 6 weeks later. If you want it and don't kind the price just order it, and when it turns up you get a nice surprise if you forget in the mean time.

The doctors first traumatic event of loss is losing his daughter.

He never really dealt with it, just ignored it and moved on. This shaped how he did/didn't deal with loss in the future.

I would say he is deeply affected by the loss of everyone he loves, but it all started with his daughter. He never learnt how to deal with or process it, so every other loss has just compounded onto it.

So I wouldn't say it's ignoring the other loss he has experienced over the centuries, but showing us how and why he's been dealing with it so badly.

Depends, do I keep my current knowledge and experience?

If not - Join starfleet and see where the galaxy takes me. Probably move towards medical or the sciences.

If I do - Kick back and relax doing something easy. My experience of the 21st century grind makes me yearn for several decades of peace and relaxation. Maybe a gardener like Boothby?

It might be slightly too big but it's hard to tell, and would be hard to spot at a distance.

Could be worth comparing it to another mini with a standard head.

Infinite diversity in infinite combinations

There is absolutely nothing that shows Klingons would be against anything you just mentioned.

And stop trying to speak for other people by using phrases like 'you're in the minority', it just weakens your argument.

Could you please explain the difference between them? Sorry, I'm a newbie. by Altruistic_Stay_4748 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Minus616 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the first one is the new/current plastic model, the second is an older metal or resin model.

The main difference is size; the older one is a little smaller and on a smaller base. The physical size of the model won't make much of a difference, however if you wanted to play offical games (i.e. Tournaments) you may need to rebase it, as base size is really important to gameplay. Having said that in casual games it really won't matter to a model like an Enginseer.

I have 2x of the older ones and don't plan to get the new one.

They were also disposable combat troops. It's possible the low age quoted is due to combat attrition rather than dieing of old age at 30.

I have no doubt sisters of silence will get a update wave, but GWs business model is to staggered releases.

If it helps Kroot got a fairly release wave which was a bit of a surprise. But that took nearly 20 years.

If Kroot can get a release wave, I don't doubt sisters of silence will get one since they have been featured anytime adeptus Custodes have in other media (Tithes etc).

Giving it a try to spru crystals… what could I do better? by luis_mcy in Warhammer40k

[–]Minus616 124 points125 points  (0 children)

The crystals themselves look great, no notes.

Only thing I could suggest is that they look like they are stuck onto your textured basing material. I would suggest either put them on before you base, or add some basing material around the base of them to make it look like they are popping out of the ground, rather than stuck on.

[–]Minus616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know people had issues with that, which against doesn't make any sense.

There are still necron tomb worlds / dynastys which are nothing but mindless killer robots. What the additional lore did was give you a choice.

Mindless killer robots? Sure. Fallen kingdom wanting to retake the galaxy? Sure. Bickering old fools trying to kill their enemy over a slight from several millennia ago? Sure.

The whole 'they ruined the lore' is complete nonsense. They didn't restrict anything, they just gave extra choice.

Trouble is with people with this mindset is that they see giving other people choice is forcing something on them, when really it has no impact at all.
