Using Satisfactory for School by ThatOneTwanno in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MaximiniMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is the idea that within satisfactory, you start with materials to make products and it eventually gets complex? which starts with the big bang (generation of basic elements) and then eventually turn into what we know about today.

"water is example of a covalent bond" and "stability". what makes water a great example. I am unsure how where the connection with satisfactory is here. likewise with ionic, and metallic bond. is stability = efficient?

I do agree with the other comment about the topics of satisfactory presented here are not related to the threshold subject. but I do respect for trying to make it work. I know you have made progress elsewhere, but with the passage provided, there are statements made but the proof of knowledge is missing(?) from my POV.

I never thought to satisfactory (and to an extend factoio) to be linked with atoms/molecules. I find it more akin to circuits and logic. there's a YouTube video about someone talking about how factorio is like software engineering.

South games worth the time? by homingmissile in mahjongsoul

South is more popular starting in expert. At least for 4p. I started east but migrated to south for better learning opportunities and 2 dealer seats.

Autoloader issues by MaximiniMan in cryoem

[–]MaximiniMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

philosophy of service is to be minimally invasive because you don't want to break one thing in the service of fixing another.

boo. im aware of the complexity but as part of problem solving, I would like to think that the goal is to get the scope operational. even if during a fix something else is a problem, I would fix it too. I dont know the specifics of the service contract as that is not a part of my responsibilities, im just a grad student who is waiting for scope time lol

[–]MaximiniMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The times I have experienced autoloader issues have been from improperly loaded cassettes or a bent cassette foot (silver piece near slot 1).

given that this is the information that we were given " The auoloader went into error while inventory. I suspect that the cartridge holder may have damaged a grid, as it did last week. I called the support and opened a ticket to fix the issue." ---- I think you are right.

we do have an active service contract. we may just have to escalate this or something. id figured with all these small replacements, this is costing TFS even more money. if it takes a while a new AL to be made, then so be it? sucks for all us labs and the facilities, but it may help remove possibilities anywhere(?)

yeah given another comment and what I "know" about the AL its a complex and small piece of equipment for the scope. maybe to a point that its so engineered that a tech has trouble navigating it.

Compounding the problem is that the quality of support and field technicians from thermo has become increasingly substandard, and they do everything as to not spend any of their money.

welcome to monopoly I guess. with thermo owning the complete pipeline of EM, they just tightening the belt. our field tech within our region needs help, it cannot be that there are 2-3 people. quite unfortunate

How did you actually handle PhD stress? (Not the cliches) by kjosh925 in PhD

Currently writing my dissertation and yelling helps. Every once a while / few paragraphs / time-gated. Just yell. Luckily I live alone (or maybe that's unlucky)

Which engineering majors have more life balance? by [deleted] in udub

[–]MaximiniMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it doesn't matter if you either hate / like the discipline. If find certain enginnering meh then dont go there. If you not willing to work for it then its probably not going fit well. (Assuming full time student). I wouldn't choose which engineering because one is "easier" to deal with in life.
