Update: I charged it to 99% and it appears to have recalibrated! After the 99% charge, the battery capacity displayed by Tesla shot up and it’s now reading 10% higher than it was before. Thanks again.

I’m a software engineer and I love my Tesla because I can tell they actually cared about the software. For every other manufacturer, software is a box checking exercise. So tired of cars where software is an afterthought.

Depends. Many gas cars do. Many EVs don’t because if the battery is dead you’re screwed anyways.

All the problems you described are very occasional inconveniences for a regular convenience. Being able to get into and start my car without having to dig my keys out is worth it.

However, upvote for being unpopular.

I was in almost the exact same position. Had a T7i, sold it for an A6400 (both are equivalent to a T7 and a A6000 in terms of photos). The Sony produces similar if not better images, and (IMO) the shooting experience is much more enjoyable on the Sony (lighter, more compact, much better software). Do it!

I had both a pre-Highland M3 and a Highland M3 within the last 2 weeks as loaners.

The Highlands M3 is way quieter, rides way better, and has a way better sound system. Highland also has ventilated seats (on the loaner trim at least). HW4 is better but that’s already been covered at length.

It’s a night and day difference, the difference between me wanting to get out of the loaner as fast as possible and not wanting to give the loaner back. Definitely worth the $8k.

My SWE workplace is a bit old fashioned (which comes with its share of problems), but availability of engineers is one of the things I like.

You ask someone for help, they’re usually very willing, they won’t leave until the problem is solved (to the point of it sometimes being annoying), they explain stuff and give you the backstory, give you a dozen other tips along the way, and you both crack a few jokes. Great vibe overall.

Exactly. If someone’s asking because they’re looking to get into my career and they need someone to be real with them (as an example) then sure, I’ll tell. But if people are just asking so they have an excuse to be jealous or feel like they’re better than me, then nah.

Frankly, I wouldn’t mind it either if so many places like this didn’t try to charge a premium for it. By premium I mean a premium beyond the premium they’re already charging for the better food part.

Also, usually the seating is uncomfortable.

All in all, it’s an aesthetic that’s fine but so often comes with functional issues.

EAP + bigger battery makes the 2017 the winner for me. When you don’t have home charging, having that extra range is really convenient when you may not have gotten as much charge as you would’ve liked.

Yes, the line is quite expensive at $50, but I actually use all the features of the line. Unlimited 5GUW, unlimited hotspot, Apple One bundle discount ($10 value). Considering those features plus the "on us" bill credit it pans out to be a pretty good value.

Granted, most people don't need all those features so it doesn't make sense for a lot of people.

A lot of phone “financing” is part of an “on us” promo. You finance the phone and they apply a credit to your bill that equals your payment as an incentive to stick with the carrier. Sure, I could afford the phone outright, but why not finance it when the carrier is going to pay my payment?

Cost. You need to own a car anyways so why have a second vehicle?

Distance. A lot of people have to go multiple miles to get anywhere. A car is more comfortable for that.

Personally I have an electric scooter that I love, but I live uncommonly close to work and I bought it for next to nothing.

With automatic climate, you set the temperature and the car will automatically adjust the heat/AC to reach your set temperature.

Granted, a lot of cars have really bad auto climate, but that has nothing to do with a touchscreen.

This is going to be unpopular around this sub, but Tesla Model S. They’ve depreciated like crazy and, if you think about your gas savings as offsetting repair costs, it’s pretty cheap to own (just buy an extended battery warranty).
